Coriolis Professional Immersion for Advanced Dancers
This unique professional immersion program offers advanced dance students the opportunity to experience the life of a professional dancer for one week with the cutting-edge Coriolis Dance, by taking Postballet technique class with the company's co-artistic directors, learning Coriolis repertory with professional company members, and sampling multiple different somatic and conditioning techniques to support the unique movement style in which the dancers train. The professional immersion program is open to dancers 14-22, and acceptance is by audition or teacher recommendation only. Contact info@dancefremont.com to inquire. Daily Schedule: 2 hrs Postballet technique class 2 hrs Coriolis performance repertory 1 hr varied conditioning & somatics practices (Gyrotonic, Yoga, Pilates, etc.) Postballet Technique, originated by Co-founders/Co-artistic Directors Christin Call and Natascha Greenwalt, combines contemporary practices with a ballet class structure to explore sensation and imagery in the body. Along with barre and center work, Postballet class incorporates spinal/pelvis articulation, moving in and out of classical lines, and pushing the extremes of rhythmic dynamics. Coriolis Dance is the creative nexus by which Co-artistic Directors/Co-founders Natascha Greenwalt and Christin Call create new, post-disciplinary dance works at the intersection of all art forms . They work together to create stories of strength and resilience through vulnerability. Their works are complex, emotionally raw, and highly stylized experiences designed to immerse audiences in meaningful and challenging ways. The Co-Directors have commissioned and created works for seven fully self-produced shows that curate a larger vision of the capabilities of ballet as an artistic medium with inherent technical rigor. In the 35+ works in its repertoire, Coriolis uses ballet technique as a self-aware vocabulary that, through manipulation and molding, is contextualized with contemporary issues.
