Registration: A non-refundable/non-transferable fee of $25 per student is required each dance year at time of registration (or $50/family).
Payment of Fees: Tuition must be paid by automatic bank account debit or automatic credit card payment. First month's tuition is due upon registration. Tuition will be debited from your bank account or charged to your credit card on the 1st day of each month. Every family must complete and submit a Registration Form & Automatic Payment Consent Form through our Online Parent Portal in order to complete registration. If your credit/debit card is unable to be processed on the 1st of the month, you will receive an email notification. If tuition is not paid by the 7th, a $15 late fee will be added to your account. If outstanding tuition is not paid by the 15th of the month, the student may be withdrawn from the school. Depending on the availability of classes, students may re-enroll. There are no refunds or credit transfers after tuition has been paid.
June Dance Recital and Fees: Students have the opportunity to perform on stage in our June Recital! This show is optional, but participation is highly encouraged because performance is part of the dance education. We assume every student is participating in the show. This year, rather than having separate participation and costume fees, all students will pay a $99 Production Package, which will include stage fee, costume, and two adult tickets. Information packets will be available in February with show dates and other important details. Account balances must be current in order to participate in the dance recital.
Costumes: I understand that if my child participates in the June recital, there will be a Production Package fee of $99. This fee will be due in full by January 15, 2020.
Withdrawals and Refunds: Should it become necessary to discontinue classes for any reason, 30 days notice is required. Withdrawal must be done through the school office and not with the teacher. No withdrawals will be accepted after April 1, 2021. To withdraw from classes, a parent or adult student must: Inform school administration and complete and sign a withdrawal form provided by the school office. All automatic bank-debiting or credit card charges will stop after the one-month period. Freedom Danceworks reserves the right to terminate lessons to any student without notice. In such a case, a refund for unused lessons will be given.
Extreme Weather or Unexpected Interruption of classes: If the school must cancel classes due to extreme weather or events beyond our control, such as power outages and pandemics, makeup classes will be offered. No refunds.
Substitutions: The school reserves the right to provide a substitute teacher if the regularly scheduled teacher is ill or otherwise unable to teach classes. If a teacher is ill and the school cannot arrange a substitute, makeup classes will be offered.
Dress Code: Required dance wear and dance shoes must be worn to all classes. Failure to wear required dance wear to class could result in students being asked to sit out the class. Repeated failure to wear required dance wear could result in the termination of lessons. Students are not permitted to wear jeans or shoes worn on the street or outdoors to any class. (For hip hop, we recommend students wear sneakers designated just for class.) For safety reasons, dancers and tumblers are not allowed to wear any jewelry other than stud earrings. Long hair must be pulled away from the face. Dress Code requirements are in our information packet, available at the front desk.
Care of Students: The school is not responsible for providing before or after class care for students. Students are not to be left at the school for excessive time periods before or after their classes. All students should be escorted by a parent/guardian into the studio and brought to their appropriate classroom. All parents are responsible for making sure their child safely enters our school, regardless of their age. They are NOT allowed to be dropped off at the curb with the assumption of FDX staff and/or faculty being present. Parents/Guardians are requested to be in the school’s vicinity with 10 minutes of their child’s dismal from class. A courtesy call should be made if the parent/guardian of the student will be late, allowing the instructor and student to be notified in a timely manner.
Parent’s Responsibility to be Aware of Dates and Events: It is the responsibility of the parent or adult student to be aware of all school activities, such as viewing days, recitals, extra classes, and dates the school is open or closed. The school will post all such notices on the school bulletin board as well as emailing/sending notices home with the students and posting the information on our website. It is the parent’s responsibility to regularly check these boards and read the newsletters to ensure they are informed. It is the responsibility of the parents or adult students to inform the school of any address or telephone number changes.
Injuries: Parents/legal guardians of minor students and adult students waive the right to any legal action for any injury sustained on school property resulting from normal dance and tumbling activity or any other activity conducted by the students or parents before, during, or after class time.
Photo Release: The school is hereby granted permission to take photographs of the students to use in brochures, websites, posters, advertisements, and other promotional materials the school creates. Permission is also hereby granted for the school to copyright such photographs in its name.
Attendance & Make-ups: Attending class on a regular basis is important in any learning experience. The consistency and repetition of training is necessary for proper technique to be learned. Arrive early to class. Students may not be allowed to take class if they are more than 15 minutes late. If a child misses a class and monthly tuition has been paid, the dancer is allowed one make-up class for each class missed. Make-up classes are a courtesy for registered students only. A make-up class is any other class that we offer for their age and dance level. Our teachers highly recommend that dancers take advantage of make-up classes in order to help them from falling behind in their dance training. Making the class up is the responsibility of the parent and student. You have the entire dance season to make-up any missed classes. If you elect not to make up the missed class, it will not be credited to your next month’s tuition. There are no transfers, refunds, or credits.
Class Placement: Class placement is determined by the instructor. Dance education requires “hands-on” instruction as well as verbal instruction. Instructors will regularly correct your child by touching their arms, legs, feet, hips, back, and head to move them to the correct position. Instructors will also verbally correct your child during the class and offer encouraging feedback.
Summer Camps & Classes: A 50% deposit for all summer camps and classes is due at the time of registration with the remaining balance due 7 days prior to start date of camp/class. Refunds, less a 15% processing fee, will be given no later than 7 days prior.
