Pacific West Performing Arts Policies and Waiver - 2019-2020 School Year
Please read the following policies carefully before signing:
Tuition rates have gone up but if you pay between the 1st and the 10th of the month, $25 will be taken off.
Enrollment: Our 2019-2020 school year registration opens June 10th, 2019. To officially enroll in school year classes your registration fee is due. Fall classes begin on Wednesday September 4th, 2019. To register after classes have begun please contact us to inquire about availability. If space is available, your registration fee and pro-rated first month’s tuition will be due. This is the only circumstance where monthly tuition will be pro-rated. It is advised but not required that you pay for your child’s June 2019 costume fee at the time of registration. Costume fees ($75+tax per costume) are due by Saturday, December 14th, 2019. If Costume Fee is paid by Friday, August 16th, you will receive a discount of $5 off, per Costume Fee paid. Enrolling in our auto-pay program is the easiest way to take advantage of our tuition discount. You can enroll in AutoPay through the parent portal with a card or bank account. There is a 2.9% convenience fee for cards and a 0.75% convenience fee for bank accounts. Students must be potty trained to be in class, if they are not diapers/pull ups must be worn until they are fully potty trained.
Registration Fees: A nonrefundable $30 individual fee (and $20 for each additional family member) is to be collected at the time of registration. If you registered for fall classes (by paying September tuition) by July 8th, 2019, your 2019-2020 school year registration fee will be credited back to you.
Recitals: PacWest holds five recitals at Snohomish High School in June. If your child is enrolled in multiple classes or you have multiple children enrolled in multiple classes please expect to participate in more than one recital. We cannot guarantee that your child or children will have all dances within one show. If you would prefer to attend only one show you must refer to the 2020 Recital Show Order and register accordingly. June recitals are tentatively June 20th and 21st.
Absences: A student will automatically be dropped from classes if he/she is absent from class for four consecutive weeks and the guardian does not notify the front desk of the absences. The guardian who registered will be responsible for tuition incurred prior to and including the four weeks. Simply not attending class does not constitute a withdrawal, as PacWest saves that spot for the child that is registered. Be advised that if you do not provide a reason for absence, your child will not be able to make up said absence.
Makeups: If a student misses their regularly scheduled class, they are allowed one makeup in a class of the same length, age range, and skill level, it does not have to be the same style as their normal class. You must contact the front desk before the class begins. Students must complete the make-up within 30 days of the missed class.
Dropping Class: An add/drop/change form, or dropping from the parent portal must be submitted 7 days prior to the end of the month. You will be responsible for the next months full tuition amount if you do not submit in time. Simply not attending class does not constitute an official withdrawal and your account will be billed until proper notice is received. If you have signed up for auto-pay and do not officially withdraw your card will be run.
Due Date for Tuition: Tuition is due on the first (1st) of each month. As a friendly reminder, we will send a balance notice on the 5th of each month if tuition has not been paid yet. If tuition is paid before the 10th of the month you receive an Early Bird Discount of $25 off. If tuition is paid after the 10th of the month, no discount will be applied. You can get the discount after the 10th if you pay for three months at a time. Private lessons, competition fees, bounced checks & auto-pay credit cards declined are all subject to a $25 fee. Any accounts that fall behind in payment will not be allowed to participate in class until the account is paid in full.
Tuition Amount: Tuition is calculated for the ten-month session (38 classes) running September through June. Monthly tuition is divided into 10 equal payments for lessons received for the full ten-month session and will remain the same each month regardless of attendance or Thanksgiving/Winter Holidays/Spring Breaks. You do not pay more for months with five classes. You do not pay for holidays or Picture Week. If registration occurs after September 4th your first month’s tuition will be pro-rated but all remaining tuition amounts will be the standard rate. See the front desk for pre-payment discounts or to sign up for our auto-pay program.
Putting Your Account On Hold: We do not allow a student to take a month off and return in order to avoid paying for a particular month’s tuition. If your family needs to take a month off you must either pay tuition as usual or officially withdraw and re-enroll. You will not have to pay the registration fee again for the season. In either case please let an admin know so your child’s teacher can be kept aware of the situation.
Pre-Payment Discounts: Paying at least 3 months at a time gives you a 10% discount on tuition. If you choose to pay three months tuition it is your responsibility to keep track of when the next payment is due. You must be signed up for AutoPay or have a current card on file to take advantage of this discount
Recital & Costumes: If your child is enrolled in multiple classes or you have multiple children enrolled in multiple classes please expect to participate in more than one recital. We cannot guarantee that your child or children will have all dances within one show. If you would prefer to attend only one show you must refer to the 2020 Recital Show Order and register accordingly. June 2020 Recitals will be held on Saturday, June 20th and Sunday, June 21st. Guardians are required to pay a $75 (plus tax) costume fee for each “costume” class (as opposed to “self-created” costume classes). This fee covers the cost of one costume and one pair of tights. Students must try on a sizing leotard or be measured and submit a Recital Participation Form to the front desk in order to participate in the June recitals. This participation form, along with costume fees (or without costume fees if classes are self-created) will be due by December 14th. Costumes will be ordered the morning of December 15th. Placing costume orders after December 15th requires special circumstances so please contact the front desk. Students choosing not to participate in recital must complete and return an opt-out form to the PacWest front desk prior to the given due date. Once a costume is ordered it is nonrefundable. You must be enrolled in the class to purchase the costume.
Recital Tickets: Tuition must be paid in full including June to purchase recital tickets. PacWest offers each registered family the opportunity to purchase four tickets beginning Friday, May 1st, 2020 online through the Dance Studio Pro Portal. These initial four tickets are available at the discounted rate of $20 each. These four tickets are on reserve for the guardian who registered the student. Divorced families, extended family members, or friends who inquire about tickets in May will be asked to contact the guardian who registered. On Monday, June 1st, 2020, all unclaimed tickets will be taken off reserve and released to the public. You may purchase more tickets at that time if they become available. Tickets purchased in June are $24 adults, $22 kids age 2-17 and seniors age 65+. There will not be group discounts on tickets. Children under the age of two are free if they watch the show from a lap rather than a seat. Tickets will not be sold at the door the day of the shows so please warn friends and family that may not be aware.
Refunds: Tuition payments for classes taken are nonrefundable. Payments made toward costumes or other retail items are 100% nonrefundable. Registration fees are 100% nonrefundable.
Photo Release: Candid photos from PacWest events or HMMM Productions class photos may be used in PacWest ads, on the PacWest website, on the PacWest Facebook page, and in PacWest videos.
Information: It is our intention to keep all PacWest families informed of important information via monthly emails. Information is also posted in the lobby and on the website. Please take the time to read your emails. Contact us immediately if your email address is updated.
Audio and Video Surveillance: All common areas including in the dance studios are being recorded with audio. This is for the safety of our students and staff.
WAIVER AND RELEASE:
As the parent and legal guardian of "Dancer", I hereby waive all claims for injury, damage, or loss to my person, the child listed above, and to any person who might accompany us during instruction and services at and provided by Pacific West Performing Arts. I hereby release the employees, instructors, volunteers, independent contractors, director, studio owner and landlord of 1830 Bickford Ave, Snohomish, WA 98290 and landlord of 508 91st Ave NE, Lake Stevens, WA 98258 from any and all claims, actions, demands, or liability for any injury occurring in or about the premises or occurring in connection with the activities of Pacific West Performing Arts. By signing, I agree to be bound by the above waiver and release agreement. The signing of this agreement is a condition of participation in classes at Pacific West Performing Arts.
Bullying concerns all of us, not just those who are bullying and those being bullied: it also affects those who witness bullying and feel unable to do anything. Bullying can happen in secret and a child being bullied can feel unable to tell.
We here at PacWest take bullying seriously and will not take bullying in any form. Any bullying incidents should be brought to the attention of the front desk. We will follow up any concerns expressed by students, parents, and/or teachers.
If you feel that you or a member of the PacWest family is being bullied please fill out our bullying incident report and bring it to the attention of the front desk.
If a dancer feels s/he is being bullied s/he needs to respond immediately. We understand that verbalizing one's feelings can be a scary step, especially when directed at the bully, but we encourage empowerment. Practice saying the following statements so they are at the ready when needed:
"That hurts my feelings."
"You're bullying me."
Many situations between kids can be seen as bullying from one perspective and is harmless teasing from another. This miscommunication can be cleared up if we allow the kids to take the first step. If after this step the situation has not improved then we truly have an incident that warrants direct involvement. The Administrators will contact the families, and the Administrator's decision will be final.
Let's avoid this situation altogether by monitoring our kids' social media use, communicating with them about the dangers of social media, and empowering them with the tools needed to be confident young adults.
Please contact the Front Desk with any questions.
