This not only extends to the various classes, events, and programs we like to offer at the studio, but also to the lessons we try to provide our students, the impact we are making on our youth and community, and the ways in which our team operates and focuses. RISK AND INJURY:

As with all physical activity, (including the going to, coming from, before, after, or during) there is a risk of injury in each class offered at the studio, at one of our alternate locations (Bragg Creek Community Centre, Springbank Cottage Childcare, etc.), while at events, or through online classes.
The participant (and/or parent or legal guardian) acknowledges this risk and assumes all hazards involved, hereby not holding Springbank Dancers Inc. or any employee, agents, or representatives responsible or liable for any resulting injuries, damages, or claims.

All those who choose to participate in any activity and have not signed the Participant Waiver & Release form do so at their own risk. They understand that their participation in the activity implies their acceptance of all risks associated with the activity and that they waive their right to hold Springbank Dancers, its employees, agents, and representatives liable for any resulting injuries, damages, or claims.


VIRTUAL CLASS DISCLAIMER (if applicable):

Our instructors will try and produce online content that is safe for at-home practice when necessary or possible. However, all of our teachers would prefer to have the hands on/in-person ability for adjustments and corrections so urge participants to practice safely. This includes ensuring you have a clear and safe space to practice. This may be moving furniture and sharp objects out of the way, considering safe footwear in regards to what type of surface is available, etc. Participants are still encouraged to be asking the instructors questions when available and not engaging in any class they do not have experience in, or feel comfortable with. Should you have any questions or concerns, those need to be brought up with administration prior to registering for a class or event. This is a strange new reality for all of us so we thank you for your participation and look forward to continuing classes with you, safely, at home!!!
 

RULES AND STUDIO ETIQUETTE:

Each participant is to arrive early to class to prepare and change quietly in the areas provided. If arriving late to class, the student may not be permitted to participate in class. This is not only out of respect for the teacher and other students, but for the safety of the participant.
Hair must be off the shoulders and dress must follow the studio’s “Proper Class Attire Guideline,” (please see Shared Documents once logged in to your account), unless otherwise instructed by the teacher.
All participants and guests are expected to pick up after themselves, including disposing of their garbage and storing their belongings with respect to others in the studio.
Participants may be permitted to bring water in a closed bottle into the dance rooms, however are expected to have it kept to the side of the room. Should water spill, the participant responsible is to clean it up immediately. This is not only for the preservation of our flooring, but also for the safety of those in the room.
Cell phones are only permitted in the dance room if they are turned off and not used during class.
Participants are asked to use the washroom prior to class so as to not disrupt the class during the lesson/practice.
Participants are expected to treat their teacher with respect and must be quiet during instruction.
Should a participant be disruptive in class and/or disrespectful to either the teacher or other students, the teacher may ask the participant to sit out or leave the room. Please note, this would be used in an extreme situation and therefore that student would not be refunded for the instruction time he/she had missed.
Should a participant or client cause damage or vandalism to the studio he/she (or his/her guardians) will be held liable for replacement or repair costs. We have a strict “zero tolerance” for vandalism and should a student be seen engaging in such activity, their participation at the studio may cease, without refund.
The studio may not be held responsible or liable for any lost/stolen items. We do provide a Lost and Found, however this is “courtesy” and will not be kept under locked supervision. Please ensure all you leave the studio with what you came with.
 

CODES OF CONDUCT:

Our dancers, parents, participants, and teachers must all respect and abide by the “Code of Conduct” as outlined in our studio Handbooks. Any client/participant, or teacher that does not respect the “Code” may be asked to leave Springbank Dancers Inc. and cease any further involvement with the studio, without refund.

Photos and videos taken on Photo Day, at Recital, during class, at competition/conventions/events, etc. may be used for promotional purposes and posted on the studio website or through our other social media outlets. Photos and videos taken may also be used in our year end Recital slideshows/posters/programs, and our Recital videos are shared via an online, unlisted, shareable link.

Participants understand that once media is shared on social media platforms, it may be shared and disseminated by others beyond the control of Springbank Dancers. Therefore, Springbank Dancers cannot be held responsible for any further dissemination or use of the media by third parties.

For any parents/participants looking to take photos while at the studio or while viewing class, please ensure the photos and videos you post are of your own self/dancer/participant and/or that you've obtained permission from the legal guardians or participants (if under 18).

SICK POLICY

In order to help protect the staff at Springbank Dancers as well as ALL the participants at the studio, we would like to request that all students with a visible cold or flu please remain at home. Please take the follow list as a guideline that we will use to determine if a child is fit for attendance in class:

Coughing, Vomiting, Fever above 100.4, Active Chicken Pox, Head Lice, Measles, Mumps, Pink Eye, Questionable rashes, Coloured runny nose or extreme head colds, Earaches, etc. or any additional COVID-19 symptoms as advised & updated by AHS, OR If your child was not well enough to attend school that day...

Please be advised that any individual who does enter the studio with the above noted symptoms and appears at a risk of spreading an illness may be isolated in the Teachers' Lounge, if needed, and asked to be picked up or exit right away.


STAFF SICK POLICY

In order to help protect the students at Springbank Dancers, we will require that all teachers and staff members with a visible cold or flu to remain at home. This is a guideline that will be used in conjunction with our Sick Policy to determine whether a Staff member needs to “call in sick”:

Coughing, Vomiting, Fever above 100.4, Active Chicken Pox, Head Lice, Measles, Mumps, Pink Eye, Questionable rashes, Coloured runny nose or extreme head colds, Earaches, etc. OR any additional COVID-19 symptoms as advised & updated by AHS.

Please be advised that any staff member with the above noted symptoms and appears at a risk of spreading an illness, will either have their class covered by a substitute, their class cancelled (please see our Cancellation Policies for further information), or their class combined with another class at the studio.

As well, staff members taking antibiotics must have been doing so for more than 24 hours and/or are fever-free prior to returning to class.


 
RETURN TO PLAY POLICY

For any student who is sent home with symptoms or missed class due to an illness, they must be free of symptoms prior to returning to dance or may be asked to isolate for a longer period, based on AHS recommendations.

For any student who is unable to participate in class due to an injury, we strongly encourage you to seek medical attention or a physician’s advice as soon as possible.

For any student who was unable to participate in class for more than 1 to 2 weeks due to an injury, the studio may require a signed Doctor’s note granting permission to return to the classroom (at the discretion of the instructor). This may include a Family Physician, Chiropractor, Physiotherapist, Massage Therapist, etc. Should they have concern or suggestions with what the participant can or can not be doing in class or as part of their training, the client may be required to sign a Release with the professional to forward that information on to our studio and staff. The discretion to implement this procedure for Adult Classes is up to the discretion of the instructor.

At Springbank Dancers Inc., our students’ wellbeing is of the most importance. And while many of our staff have extensive training in injuries, treatments, and injury preventions, it should be understood that it is not our responsibility to provide diagnosis for such. We believe in a collaboration of efforts to keep our participants strong and healthy, especially through the treatment of an injury and the appropriate return to class.
