If you register for and take a space in a class, you are committed to, and agree to pay tuition for that class until the end of the semester.
Registration Fees: Each studio family will be charged a non-refundable annual registration fee payable in September, or upon registration.
Tuition: Tuition is due before attending the first class for the semester that students are enrolled in and tuition is non-refundable regardless if a student continues to attend class. There is a $25 fee for requests to change classes after enrollment is complete and a $50 fee to drop a class before the semester begins and tuition is charged. We accept cash, checks, credit cards and are set up through the local homeschool programs as a vendor for class reimbursements as well as Direct Vendor Payments. Please let us know if you need a receipt for tuition payments. There will be a $35 charge for all returned checks.
Recital Fees: Costume fees will be due by a particular deadline. The deadline will be posted IN ADVANCE at the studio and in the Parent Portal. It is the parents/guardians responsibility to keep informed on these and other due dates. Auto Pay will process any outstanding costume fees on their due date.
Other Fee Policies: All fees (tuition, registration fees, costume fees, and tickets) are non-refundable. All outstanding balances must be paid in full before costumes are handed out and before any student can perform in the Recital. The Auto Pay payment method we have on file will be charged any outstanding balances that are due the week costumes are handed out and at the end of the semester. All accounts must be paid in full before registering for the next session. Accounts with a history of non-payment or non-compliance with studio policies may be barred from registration and may be asked to leave the studio or may be asked to prepay tuition.
Attendance: If your child will not be attending classes, please visit your Parent Portal and submit their absence and or any future absences by clicking on the Attendance icon. Students that miss MORE THAN 4 (ex. 5, 6, 7 or 8) classes in one semester will not be allowed to participate in any performances for that semester. If your child is tardy for class, that will be logged into our attendance and 4 tardies in 1 semester will equal 1 absence.
No Dancer will be admitted to class if they arrive 10 or more minutes after the class start time and will be considered absent.
No credits or refunds are given for missed classes.
There are no street shoes allowed in the studio! Students who walk into the studio lobby from outside in their hip hop class sneakers or dance shoes, will not be allowed in class. All dance shoes must be carried into the studio lobby area and changed into before class starts.
Dress Code: We have a copy of our dress code doc for all classes at the studio uploaded in our Parent Portal under the Class Files tab and in the purple binders at the studio. Children that come to class unprepared without proper dance shoes or dance attire will not be allowed to attend class.
If you have little ones, please assist them in putting on their dance shoes prior to the start of class and have their hair properly secured back and out of their face. Instructors are not responsible for ensuring students have their shoes on and ready to go before class starts or securing their hair back.
We do have lockers for students that are enrolled in two or more dance classes that students may leave their dance shoes or dance wear in. Students must have a lock on their lockers.
There are no cell phones, tablets, smart watches, computers, laptops, gaming systems etc. allowed in the studio. Students must silence all electronic devices before class and are not allowed use of their electronics until class has ended. Any students not abiding by the electronics policy will have electronics confiscated until class ends. If students absolutely need to contact a parent, they may approach the teacher with their request and the teacher will contact their parents if absolutely necessary.
Parents, friends and younger siblings are NOT allowed in classrooms during class; it helps to keep students focused without distraction. The studio's waiting areas accommodate parents & siblings comfortably who would like to view their children’s classes. When the studio door is closed, please do not open the door and interrupt class while in progress.
If your child has a behavioral issue or special need, please advise the studio owner, Jamie Straatsma. If your child has an injury or illness that a physician has suggested he or she be limited from physical activity, you must provide a doctor’s note to hold a space in class AND your child must be cleared by the same physician in writing to return to dance. If your child has a cast, crutches, brace, etc., your child will not be allowed to participate in dance without written clearance from a physician. No refunds or credits will be given for injuries after the child is authorized to return to class.
If your child is in a full class and your child has not attended the class for 3 consecutive weeks without a parent request and payment to maintain his or her space, your child may be dropped from a class to allow others to participate without a refund or credit for tuition paid or owed.
All parents and students are expected to read and comply with all studio policies, procedures, dress code and recital requirements (available in the Parent Portal under the Class Files tab).
Student / Instructor Interaction: Breakout Dance Studio instructors have a hands on approach to correcting students to ensure proper body alignment and technique.
Copyright Policy: Breakout Dance Studio reserves the right to photograph, video tape or record student’s dance training, instruction and performances for use for instruction, promotion, publicity and broadcast uses. All ownership, rights, title and interest in and to these recordings, including copyright, belong exclusively to Breakout Dance Studio.
Lobby / Waiting Area: Please be respectful of the furniture and items in the lobby / waiting area. Food and drinks are not allowed in the Studio B lobby on the second floor. You may bring food into the Studio A lobby on the ground floor but we ask that you please eat at the tables and clean up after yourself and do not eat at the couches. The corner desk area is off limits to students and families and is strictly for Breakout Dance Studio staff only.
All children not attending classes are to be accompanied by a parent at all times while in the lobby. We do not allow teens to babysit siblings while parents run errands or other parents babysitting other family’s children while in the lobby area. If a parent exits the building, their children not attending classes are to exit the building with them at all times. Parents are responsible for ensuring their children are quiet and respectful of the furniture, apparel for sale, books, etc. provided in the lobby.
Families with children climbing on the furniture, tampering with fixtures or being disruptive, will be asked to leave the studio during class time. Please clean up after your children when they are done using the art table, books, eating, etc. before you leave the studio. There is always another class that will be entering the building and utilizing our lobby area after class ends and we want to ensure the area is welcoming for each class when they arrive. We have wet wipes and paper towels sitting on the red counter top to assist you in clean up.
The lobby area, tables and chairs, etc. are to be used only while students are attending class and 15 minutes prior to and after classes. Please do not come to the studio to use the waiting area for personal needs outside of classes your child is enrolled in. We like to keep the waiting area unclogged and available for the next group of students and families attending classes.
Communication: We utilize the BAND app for communicating with our student’s families and it is mandatory that at least one parent join their child's class BAND. Instructors have limited time for discussion between classes as we have a very tight schedule and need to ensure classes start on time. If you have a question or concern, please contact Jamie Straatsma through the BAND app via private chat. Please do not text message the studio’s cell phone regularly as it can be very chaotic, overwhelming and consume a lot of the studio owner’s time.
Your child will have a class BAND for each class they are enrolled in and your enrollment confirmation email will have a link for their specific class BAND. You can also find a link to your child’s class BAND in your Parent Portal under the Class Files tab. You may access your child’s class BAND via the BAND app that is private, secure and only for those enrolled at Breakout Dance Studio. Please visit your app store and download the BAND app or you may access the BAND through a web browser on your computer at www.BAND.com. Accessing your account via a browser will allow your child to practice at home utilizing any uploaded videos from their instructors in the BAND.
When joining BAND, you will be asked to create a profile. Please use your full name (first and last) that we have on file so we know who is requesting to join our BAND and can verify they are an enrolled family at Breakout Dance Studio. If you do not use your full name (First and Last), you will not be approved to join the BAND. If you have a child that is a student and would like to join, rest assured, no one will see their profile outside of fellow students enrolled at the studio and their parents/guardians.
Our BAND is where you will find a calendar with all class schedules, performances, rehearsals, events and locations, maps etc. to all events related to the studio. It is also a place where we can share photos and videos of our classes, rehearsals and performances securely and privately amongst one another, chat directly with the studio owner, receive reminders of upcoming themed classes and so much more!
Our Parent Portal allows you to register and pay for classes online, report any absences, enroll in Auto Pay, view a live schedule of classes, access important docs and more! You can access our Parent Portal via this link https://dancestudio-pro.com/online/breakout
Think of your BAND as your communications hub and our Parent Portal as your accounting hub. We are thrilled to have you join our ever growing studio family and look forward to seeing you all the first week of class!
