Class Etiquette • Always come to class with the correct uniform and be prepared. Hair should be in a neat bun for ballet and a ponytail, braids or bun for other class styles. • No jewellery to be worn to class (stud earrings are permitted). • Arrive on time for class to avoid disruption to other students. It is recommended that students arrive at the studio at least 10 minutes before they start class to allow time to prepare and warm up. Parents of young students must take their children to the bathroom BEFORE class. • Be respectful to all teachers, students and fellow classmates. No bullying, gossip, discrimination or isolation of other students.
Code of Conduct • Students are to demonstrate respect for staff at all times. Students are not permitted to chat to each other during class. If disrespect is shown to a staff member, the student may be asked to quietly sit out. • Always have appropriate clothing on when arriving and leaving the studio or any event held by or attended by Cammeray Dance Academy. Always put a t-shirt or tracksuit over dance clothes and dance uniform. (No walking around in public with just a leotard on). • Cammeray Dance Academy Logo Uniform items are required to be worn at all Eisteddfods, competitions and R.A.D. Examinations. • No student is allowed to enter an Eisteddfod or competition without prior permission from the principle of Cammeray Dance Academy. • When dressed in dance/theatre costumes, no eating or drinking, except water. • Put rubbish in the bins and clean up after yourself. • Respect and care for studio costumes, equipment, facilities etc. • Parents are to please respect and follow the advice and direction provided by teachers and always be supportive of their child’s efforts. • Parents should please teach their children respect for other students, teachers, parents and adjudicators and lead by example. • Cammeray Dance Academy holds closed classes (with the exception of creative movement classes). Friends and family members are not permitted to watch classes. We hold an open viewing day in the last week of each term for this purpose. • All dances and choreography are the property of Cammeray Dance Academy. • No filming of any Cammeray Dance Academy concerts or classes, as this is an infringement of copyright. • Students are not to leave the studio/premises without a parent/guardian. • Parents acknowledge that they must ensure supervision of their child before and after class, and that noise must be kept to a minimum (including younger siblings of students). • Parents are to demonstrate respect for faculty and staff at all times. If disrespect is shown to a staff member, the family may be asked to leave Cammeray Dance Academy.
Terms and Conditions • Ballet students from Primary and up are required to attend 2 syllabus classes weekly to meet the necessary standards to participate in the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) examinations. The Principal makes the final decision regarding entrance for exams. • Students are not permitted to attend class at any other dance school unless by special arrangement by the Principal of Cammeray Dance Academy. • Cammeray Dance Academy reserves the right to ask any student to leave the school for inappropriate behaviour by a student or parent. • Enrolment at Cammeray Dance Academy gives automatic copyright. Cammeray Dance Academy has permission for all photos and recordings taken during a class or performance to be used for publicity. • Cammeray Dance Academy accepts no responsibility for injury or loss caused during classes, performances, or while participants/audience viewers are near or at the dance studio or any venue for events used by Cammeray Dance Academy. All classes are taken at your own risk. • Parents are to understand that dance is a physical activity; demonstration of exercises and personal correction may require some physical contact to assist understanding of movement. Physical contact may be required to administer first aid. • Parents agree that they will inform the teacher if, at any time, their child's capacity to move is restricted and if they are unable to participate fully in a particular movement or activity. • In the event of an emergency, and where the emergency contacts cannot be contacted rapidly, parents & guardians authorise Cammeray Dance Academy to seek medical attention from a hospital.
