Attendance:
•As with any program, steady attendance is a requirement for success. Failure to meet such requirements can lead to adjustment in class level.
•Parents/Guardians are responsible for contacting the dance studio office directly regarding absences.
•Any student that misses two consecutive weeks, without notice, may be required to forfeit their class spot as space is limited.
Make-up Classes:
•Students are allowed one make-up class per month and must be made up within 4 weeks of the missed class.
•Make-up classes must be scheduled and approved by class Instructor.
•There are no refunds nor can missed classes be applied to subsequent months’ tuition.
Schedule Changes or Dropping Classes:
•All schedule changes must be approved by Instructor and Academy Director.
•The office must be notified prior to dropping classes or making schedule changes online.
•All fees are due until the office is notified of any class being dropped.
Addressing Issues:
We welcome you as parents to bring any concerns to our attention. We do ask that you use discretion as you address them with us and that any conversations that are sensitive and private in matter be held while classes are not in session. If issues concern other parents or children, please do not address these issues at the studio. If issues concern faculty, please do not address the issue in front of other students and/or parents. Please resolve the issue independently or make an appointment with the director to resolve the situation. Angry dialog, foul language and/or threats will not be tolerated. Parents and/or students who display this type of behavior will be dismissed. Please remember that these rules are for the safety and comfort of all students and faculty.
Studio Rules for Parents:
•All young children must be supervised. No running, yelling or rough playing at the dance studio.
•To maintain the comfort, privacy, and productivity of our students, our studio policy is that no videos or photos can be taken during class time.
•Help keep your studio clean and tidy. Please throw away all trash.
•No gossip, obscene language or inappropriate conversations are tolerated by either parents or students.
FOR DANCERS
Promptness:
•Promptness is extremely important.
•Dancers need adequate time to be physically and mentally prepared for the demands of the dance class.
•It is recommended that students arrive early to have the time to use the restroom, get warmed up and be dressed properly.
•If you arrive late and your class is in the middle of a combination, please wait until the combination is over to enter the studio.
Dress Code:
•Proper dress code is required for all classes.
•Uniform (including shoes) must be clean without any stains, tears or rips.
•Hair must be in a bun and out of face.
•Nails should be cut and clean. No bright colored nail polish allowed.
•No t-shirts, sweat pants or loose clothing worn in class unless specified. Over-sized clothing inhibits the instructor to correct body placement.
•Jewelry should not be worn to class as it may become a distraction or a hazard.
•All ballet shoes should be canvas material. No leather.
•Other (local) studio or company apparel should not be worn to the studio.
Dance Etiquette:
We expect all dancers to show respect to themselves, each other and all instructors.
•Be on time and prepared for class.
•Use bathroom prior to class to minimize interruptions during.
•Do not have frequent class absences.
•No gum is allowed in class.
•Do not talk during class unless you are asking a question.
•Be willing to try new dance material. Put positive energy into your dance class.
•No leaning, lounging or hanging on the ballet barres.
•If injured, tell instructor prior to class.
•If ill, do not come to class.
•If you need to leave early, notify instructor prior to class.
•At the end of class all students should thank their instructor with a curtsy.
•When leaving the studio, students must remove dance shoes and cover-up their dance clothes or change. Do not go outside during cooler weather without a warm-up. It is important to control the cooling process to avoid injury. In addition, please respect your art by keeping your dance attire confined to the studio.
