The goal of Spark Theater Company has always been to be a place of learning, fun, acceptance, safety, and new opportunities. We want everybody of all ages to feel accepted and encouraged. We want Spark to be a place to be yourself and know you will be included.
In order for Spark to continue that experience for everybody there are things all of us, of all ages, must all agree upon. Showing respect to the company as a whole and to all individuals involved is a great general guideline to encourage a safe, fun place to be. However, sometimes it is important to lay out the actual code and expectations for clarification and to be informed.
By reading this Code of Conduct you agree and consent to these guidelines and the repercussions of breaking them. All guidelines below apply to all minors and adults involved with a Spark Theater event or on our property whether they be team members, leadership, audience members, or family members.
Attendance
I understand my attendance at all competition team rehearsals I am requested to attend are vital. I received a calendar of rehearsals and I will not make any additional plans for those rehearsal dates once I turn in my existing conflicts at the time of accepting my position on the team. However, first and foremost, is my safety. I’ll reach out if I must be late and I will not speed to avoid being late. My safety is important to everybody.
Social Media and Extracurricular Activities
I understand I am always a reflection of the things I am involved in all the time. What I post, what I say, and what I do can be a reflection of others on my team and Spark Theater as a whole. I understand my actions can be perceived as a reflection of what is acceptable and expected within all of my organizations. I will make sure my public social media posts, my social activities, and things I do and say will be a positive reflection on Spark. Inappropriate activities will be brought to me with the opportunity to remove or correct them. I understand that repeat behavior will result in a meeting with myself, Spark leadership, and my parent(s)s or guardian. Refusal to be a positive reflection of myself and Spark will likely result in my removal from the team and Spark without refund of paid fees.
Bullying, Harassment, or Discrimination
I understand Spark Theater Company strives to be a place of acceptance and safety. We will always strive to provide a place that is free of racism, harassment, and discrimination of any kind. I understand all of my teammates, adults, and volunteers are to be treated with respect and dignity and have equal opportunities and acceptance. I understand that if I am accused of harassment, bullying, or discrimination the incident will be quickly addressed and I will get the opportunity to explain the situation but if the claim is proven I understand I will be dismissed.
There is a copy of things that can be considered bullying, harassment, and discrimination available in the studio.
Resolution of Conflict
Caleb Brooks and Jessica Rush are the people to take incidents of conflict to. Whether that conflict be with another student or an adult. I will go to one of them first if I feel the conflict needs any mediation without spreading the conflict to others. If neither Caleb or Jessica are available or if a third adult option is necessary, Mary Roedl, Nancy Brooks or Lori Janney are a person of contact. You can send private messages to any of these adults in our Band system.
Miscellaneous
Also, for my protection and the protection of others, I will try to avoid situations that result in an adult and a minor being in a room or facility without others present. I will also try to avoid situations that result in 2 minors being alone in a room or facility without others present. I will, preferably, ask another adult to accompany us or be certain the room or facility is open to others. If I am uncomfortable, I will let a responsible Spark adult know immediately, preferably before entering the situation. I do understand this is just for the protection of myself and others.
Spark Theater Company is a nonsmoking and no vaping facility both inside and outside. Neither underage alcohol nor illegal drugs of any kind at any age should ever be taken before or during any Spark event nor on the Spark premises at any time. The results of abuse of alcohol or drugs will always be to be asked to leave Spark premises or events with the potential to be banned from future Spark events.
This Code of Conduct is a living contract and may be periodically updated.
Should a student or adult violate this Code of Conduct they will be reminded in the case of a first offense, if it is a minor violation. If the behavior occurs a second time, parents will be notified. If this becomes an ongoing problem the student may be asked to leave the current Spark Theater production or class without refund of paid fees.
This Code of Conduct is applicable to me from the time I read this until I am no longer a participant, in any way, with Spark Theater Company.
