I will not hold The Dance Department, it's owners, faculty, and facility liable for any personal injury, property loss, or personal property damage which may occur on the premises before, during, or after classes and studio events. I understand that I am responsible for my dancer's physical limitations and agree not to exceed them. I certify that I am the parent or legal guardian of the dancer registering and participating in class and studio events.
By Registering my dancer for classes with The Dance Department, I am acknowledging and accepting studio policies*
* THE DANCE DEPARTMENT STUDIO POLICIES:
.) ANNUAL FALL REGISTRATION FEE: An annual non-refundable fall registration fee of $15 per dancer / ($25 per family with more than one dancer) is due at the time of registration along with the first month's tuition. (This is NOT required for registration at the Windsor Recreational Center.)
.) TUITION PAYMENT: Class and Repertory tuition is due during the week of the first class of every month. Insufficient funds or late tuition will result in late fee penalties. A penalty of $15 will result if tuition is one week late, an additional penalty of $40 will result if tuition is over one week late. Dancers will not be allowed to participate in classes until all tuition fees and penalties are paid in full. Families looking to pay for an entire season (Sept-Dec) or (Jan-May) will receive a 10% discount. Families choosing to pay for a semester or for the full year may do so at any point during the season. Credit cards, online payments, and options such as Venmo or PayPal, or cash will be accepted. **If you are in need of payment plan options, please contact us ASAP. These will be discussed at the discretion of the owners of TDD and ONLY available for families whose previous payments are in good standing.**
.) RECITAL COSTUMES & TICKETS: A $130 fee for those looking to participate in recital will be due on February 1st. The Recital Package includes two tickets, 1 costume and a keepsake for the dancer. Please plan to budget an additional $85 maximum charge for each additional costume/class. Additional tickets will be available for purchase closer to the day of the recital. Recital Fees are non-refundable. Late payments risk a dancer's ability to participate in Recital. Late fee penalties will apply.
.) WITHDRAWALS: Registering for our 2021-2022 dance session is a 9-month commitment. If your dancer is no longer interested in attending class, please contact us at info@thedancedepartment.net or speak with one of our teachers to request a withdrawal form. Tuition is non-refundable. Withdrawal forms submitted after Recital Fees have been paid, will NOT receive a refund. Family emergencies or relocation are the exception.
.) DRESS: Dancers must be dressed appropriately to participate in class and have hair pulled back if it’s longer than chin length. The instructors reserve the right to ask your dancer to sit out if not dressed in proper dance attire or if they do not have the appropriate dance shoes. Jeans and school clothes are NOT considered appropriate dance attire and could cause injury to the participant. Dancers should wear form fitting clothes (i.e.)…leotards, tights, leggings, yoga pants, shorts, tank tops. Proper dress INCLUDING THE PROPER STYLE OF SHOES for the class helps instructors maximize instruction. If you have any questions as to which shoes you should purchase, please reach out to one of our directors for assistance.
.) STUDIO ETIQUETTE: No outside shoes or gum are allowed inside of our dance space as a curtesy to our rental facilities and in respect for the instruction being provided. Dancers can and should bring water bottles to class, however food is not permitted in our dance space during class. Please keep an eye on your children at pick up and drop off. The TDD rental facilities are NOT responsible for the well being and safety of your dancer. CELL PHONES ARE NOT PERMITTED. Dancers may leave their phones in their bag. Cell phone misusage will result in confiscation until class has ended and legal guardians will be notified. If there is an emergency, please call the studio number.
.) ABSENCES: There are no refunds or make-ups for missed classes currently offered at The Dance Department. If your dancer must miss a class, we ask that you contact us prior to class beginning. We understand that life happens and will not hold your dancer accountable for a family emergency or sickness. Consistent attendance is essential for the progression and growth of your dancer. Poor attendance can result in a dancer falling behind the rest of the class. If your dancer has missed too many classes during recital season (January-May) the instructor/choreographer holds the right to make adjustments accordingly. Privates (at additional cost) or removal of the student from the piece may be required.
.) ILLNESS: PLEASE BE RESPECTFUL OF FELLOW DANCERS AND OUR INSTRUCTORS BY NOT BRINGING YOUR DANCER TO CLASS IF THEY ARE SICK OR RUNNING A FEVER. Where people are present, so is the risk of contracting COVID-19 or any other illness. In the unlikely situation of a breakout or studio closure, classes will be moved to a virtual setting via zoom or another video conferencing program. Please keep up to date with these policies via our website at www.thedancedepartment.net or through our social media pages.
.) INJURIES: If your dancer is injured during class, basic first aid will be administered by a staff member. Parents will be notified and in the rare instance of an emergency situation, paramedics will be called. All TDD instructors are CPR & First Aid certified. If a dancer is injured and must sit out of class, they are expected to attend and observe. Any tuition reimbursement will be made at the discretion of The Dance Department.
.) INCLEMENT WEATHER: TDD's weather policy is not determined solely on the surrounding school districts. An email will be sent out to notify our families of cancellation. You can find updates on our social media pages: Instagram and Facebook. **If a class is canceled due to inclement weather or a staffing emergency, the following month's tuition will be prorated to credit for any missed classes.**
.) BREAKS AND HOLIDAYS: TDD will have fall, winter, and spring break. Please check our social media pages and website for the most up to date information.
.) ATTITUDES: The Dance Department is a safe space for dancers and our families alike. Dancers and families are expected to display decorum while inside of The Gym for Everybody, The Windsor Rec Center, before, during, and after classes, showcases, recitals, and street side performances. Bullying, the undermining of staff members and/or fellow students will not be tolerated. Any bullying taking place within the classroom, will result in a phone call and report to the legal guardians of those involved. All questions and concerns in regards to The Dance Department procedures may be forwarded to info@thedancedepartment.net or by scheduling a meeting with Miranda Lung or Nicole Kutella.
