Welcome to The North Dance Company. Please read all the policies and procedures associated with our studio, and class registration.
RECREATIONAL DANCE
Recreational Dance is described as dance classes during the school season. Typically beginning in September and concluding with our Year-End Performance in May/June.
Class Withdrawal
The North Dance Company will make every effort to find the perfect class for your dancer. If you are not completely satisfied, you may withdraw your dancer. A refund will be issued for classes not taken after the date of withdrawal, less the deposit(Registration to Dec 1)/administrative fee(Dec 1 to Jan 1). A request to withdraw must be made in writing to the Director by December 1, 2023. Students who withdraw after December 1, 2023 are subject to a $100.00 administrative fee. No refunds for withdrawal after Feb 1st.
Missed classes
If a dancer will be absent from class, we kindly ask that you email the studio to let us know. There are no refunds or make-up classes for missed classes.
Cancelled Classes
In the event of severe weather, The North Dance Company reserves the right to cancel classes for the safety of students and staff. Should we choose to cancel class, a message will be left on the studio’s answering system, website, Instagram and Facebook. Classes cancelled for any other reason will be made up on a later date. Rescheduled classes may be on a different day and time than your regular class day/time. All efforts will be made to accommodate everyone.
Attendance
Dancers should arrive at the studio five (5) minutes before the class begins ready to dance. Consistent class attendance is an important part of the social and education well-being of all dancers in a class.
Supervision
Parents/guardians are responsible for the supervision of their child before and after class. Teacher/office staff are not responsible for dancers outside of class time. Please arrive promptly ensure a safe pick up for your dancers. Dancers are encouraged to remain inside the studio while waiting for pick up, to ensure their safety.
Studio Etiquette
a. Dancers should wait quietly outside the studio before class, when the teacher is ready they will open the door and invite the dancers in. Dancers should not be in the studio without an instructor. Parents may wait in the designated waiting area. Parents should not enter the studio rooms unless they have been invited by the instructor.
b. Only water is allowed in the studio. Food and other beverages should only be consumed in the waiting area, kitchen, or student lounge. GUM is not allowed anywhere in the studio.
c. The North Dance Company is a peanut/tree nut free zone.
d. Please remove all outdoor footwear upon entering the studio. You may bring indoor shoes or slippers to wear while in the building.
Fees
Fees for the dance year (September to Recitals) include: Dance lessons, recital, recital costume and digital group and individual photo (Extra photos will be sold during photo day), digital video package, and TNDC T-shirt. Below are payment options for the 2022/2023 dance year.
*Payment discounts apply to payments made for full year classes only.
a. PAYMENT IN FULL for the year by cash, cheque, or credit card (Visa, MasterCard, Amex, Discovery accepted)
~ A 10% Discount is applied to the total fees prior to processing payment.
b. PAYMENT IN 3 MONTHLY INSTALMENTS for the year by cheque or credit card (Visa, MasterCard, Amex, Discovery accepted)
~ A 5% Discount is applied to the total fees prior to processing payment
~ Three (3) pre-arranged payments dated: (1) At registration, (2) dated December 1st 2022 and (3) February 1st 2023
NSF or returned cheques will be charged a $25.00 fee.
c. PAYMENT IN 6 MONTHLY INSTALMENTS for the year by cheque or credit card (Visa, MasterCard, Amex, Discovery accepted)
~ Six pre-arranged payments (cheque or credit card) with instalments taken out each month from September 1ST 2022/Registration to February 1ST 2023 or post dated cheques provided at registration (no exceptions). If registration is after September, monthly instalments will be determined by the amount of months left in the payment series and prorated accordingly. All classes must be paid in full by February 1st, 2023
NSF or returned cheques will be charged a $25.00 fee.
Waiver/Release
You acknowledge that you have entered into an agreement with The North Dance Company (TNDC) under your own free will. You realize that participation in dance classes and activities could involve some possible personal injury. Despite precautions, accidents and injuries may occur. You agree to release and hold harmless TNDC including its teachers, dancers, staff members and facilities used by TNDC from any cause of action, claims, or demands now and in the future. I/we will not hold TNDC liable for any personal injury or any personal property damage, which may occur on the premises before, during or after classes.
MINI SESSIONS
Mini Sessions are described as a series of classes, typically 5-8 weeks in length. There is no Year-End Performance for mini session unless pre-approved by the Studio
1. Class Withdrawal

4. COVID Planning/Studio shut down due to COVID
Should there be further closures due to the pandemic MINI SESSION CLASSES will pause and resume when we are allowed back in studio or outdoors (weather permitting). Dancers will maintain a credit for the balance of their classes

SUMMER CAMP
1. Camp fees are due at time of registration in order to hold and secure your spot, due to the limited participants in each camp.
2. A minimum number of participants of 5 will be required to run each camp.
3. If the studio cancels a camp due to not enough registrations, a Full Refund will be provided.
1. If the Studio forced to shut down due to a COVID-19 lockdown, a Full Refund will be provided.
2. If you cancel your camp 14 days prior to the start date of the camp, a Full Refund will be provided.
3. If you cancel your camp with less than 14 days notice, No Refund will be provided.
4. All Parties will abide by the rules in place due to COVID 19
5. The Parties will being appropriate clothing, water, snacks, lunch, and footwear
GENERAL
1. This is a binding legal agreement. Clarify any questions or concerns before agreeing. As a participant in dance, and the spectating, orientation, instruction, activities, competitions, programs, and services (collectively the “Activities”), the undersigned, being the Participant and the Participant’s Parent/Guardian (if Participant is under 18 years old), (collectively the “Parties”), acknowledge and agree to the terms outlined in this document.
2. The Parties understand and acknowledge that:
a) The Activities have foreseeable and unforeseeable inherent risks, hazards, and dangers that no amount of care, caution or expertise can eliminate, including without limitation, the potential for serious bodily injury.
b) The Organization may offer or promote online programming (such as webinars, remote conferences, workshops, and online training) which have different foreseeable and unforeseeable risks than in-person programming.
c) The Organization has a difficult task to ensure safety and it is not infallible. The Organization may be unaware of the Participant’s fitness or abilities, may give incomplete warnings or instructions, may misjudge weather or environmental conditions, and the equipment being used might malfunction.
d) The novel coronavirus, COVID-19, has been declared a worldwide pandemic by the World Health Organization and COVID-19 is contagious. The Organization has put in place preventative measures to reduce the spread of COVID-19; however, the Organization cannot guarantee that the Participant will not become infected with COVID-19. Further, participating in the Activities could increase the Participant’s risk of contracting COVID-19.
3. The Participant is participating voluntarily in the Activities. In consideration of that participation, the Parties hereby acknowledge that they are aware of the risks, dangers and hazards and may be exposed to such risks, dangers, and hazards. The risks, dangers and hazards include, but are not limited to:
a) Privacy breaches, hacking, technology malfunction or damage.
b) Executing strenuous and demanding physical techniques and exerting and stretching various muscle groups.
c) Vigorous physical exertion, strenuous cardiovascular workouts, and rapid movements.
d) The failure to properly use any piece of equipment or from the mechanical failure of any piece of equipment or apparatus.
e) Failure to follow instructions or rules.
f) Serious injury to virtually all bones, joints, ligaments, muscles, tendons, and other aspects of the Participant’s body or to the Participant’s general health and well-being.
g) Abrasions, sprains, strains, fractures, or dislocations.
h) Concussion or other head injuries, including but not limited to, closed head injury or blunt head trauma.
i) Physical contact with other participants, spotters, spectators, equipment, and hazards.
j) Collisions with walls, any equipment, floors, or mats.
k) Failure to act safely or within the Participant’s ability or designated areas.
l) Negligence of other persons, including other spectators, participants, or employees.
m) Travel to and from competitive events and associated non-competitive events which are an integral part of the Activities.
n) Contracting COVID-19 or any other contagious disease.
4. The Parties agree to allow TNDC to use all video, photos and other digital images for use in social media posts and any or all advertising.
5. All policies and procedures are subject to change at the discretion of the director to meet the requirements set by the Government of Ontario, York Region and Town of Aurora.
COVID 19
The Parties agree to follow all municipal, provincial, and federal rules/laws in place for their protection due to COVID 19. The Studio reserves the right to implement rules/laws during the course of a registered program to protect the studio, it’s staff, and its participants.
No Parties shall enter the premise if they are exhibiting symptoms or test positive for COVID 19. All Parties will self-screen before coming to the Studio
