Registration Information, Policies and Fees Overview
Tuition is based on the entire season of dance.
Our season runs August 14, 2023 through May 23, 2024.
Tuition is not based on the number of classes in a month or on attendance. Monthly tuition amounts are based on the number of hours taken per week.
There is NO refund for missed classes; i.e., no prorated classes.
Payment options are as follows:
Monthly Auto-Pay on the 1st of the Month (9 months from September through May) except August, which is due upon registration for the season.
Entire Year in Full (10 months paid by August 14, 2023) for a prepayment discount. Must be paid by check or cash.
There are no family or sibling discounts.
IN REGISTERING YOUR DANCER, THIS MEANS YOU AGREE TO ALL INFORMATION PROVIDED BELOW. WE ENCOURAGE YOUR QUESTIONS. THANK YOU! SSOD STAFF.
You must be over the age of 18 to register for an account. I, as a parent of a dance at The Studio School of Dance (SSOD), agree & acknowledge to all of the following:

Studio Closings
Studio closings closely follow the Olathe School District (USD 233) calendar. However, we do not close for teachers’ in-service, conference days and certain holidays. Please refer to our list of important dates.
SSOD will email, post on FB/IG and give notice on your DSP parent portal if your class is going to be canceled.
If your class is canceled due to weather, you may take another comparable class for make-up. Please email us for comparable classes if you are unsure.
The first weather related closing that affects each class will NOT be followed by a make-up class. Should a second or subsequent weather related closing occur for that same class, we will schedule a make-up class.
E-mail Communication
You must check your email for important updates for your dancer.
This is very important and is our major form of communication. These updates contain vital and pertinent information that you and your dancer will need for events. It is your responsibility to check emails for your dancer.
If you are not receiving email notifications, please let SSOD know immediately so we may correct any problems.

Our Expectations
Dancers
Dancers should be prompt for class. All students should arrive at least five minutes prior to their scheduled class time.
Waiting until the music is finished before entering the classroom if they are late to class.
Water bottles with closed lids are allowed in the studios (water only).
No food is allowed inside the studios.
If a dancer is injured and cannot dance during class, a doctor’s note will need to be provided along with updates.
SSOD Company Dance
SSOD has a Company Dance Team (Competitive Dance). Auditions are held the week following the recital each year. Ages 13 and above are invited via invitation only. If you are interested in auditioning, please talk to your dance instructor or the Studio staff. It is suggested to thoroughly review all information before considering this as it is a commitment for a team.
Recital Performance
Participation in our Annual Recital Performances is not a requirement for all students. We assume you will be participating unless you notify us by November 1st. As of November 1st, you become obligated to pay the total recital fee for your dancer even if he/she discontinues classes. Our schedule is set months in advance so please make sure that you mark your calendars.
If you DO NOT WANT TO PERFORM in the Studios 2024 Recital, please email The Studio for the waiver and then return via email back to the Studio.
Recital 2024 - June 1st
Mandatory Dress Rehearsal will be Thursday May 30th.
Missing a Dress Rehearsal means No Show Performance.
Please make note of these dates and mark them on your calendar!
***All students will participate in both shows EXCEPT Creative Movement and Tiny Tutus.***
Expectations for Participation
The Studio’s Recital Contract is designed to ensure all children participating in the dance show will receive the same great experience. In order to accomplish this goal, each student’s parents/guardians will need to be involved and committed.
Once we begin learning choreography in February before recital, students should not miss more than 4 weeks per dance class. It is so important that all children come to class so that we can continue to move forward with the dance.
Recital Package Fees
The Recital Fee Package includes all of the following:
One Costume
TIghts (if required for your costume)
Digital Video Download of the show
Associated fees for the Venue
Teacher Costs
Props or Accessories for the Costume
***Additional classes are prorated and charged a separate fee per additional class.***
***ALL FEES ARE NON-REFUNDABLE*** Fees will be charged through the DSP portal Auto-Pay November 8th unless other arrangements are made.

Picture Day for Recital and Program Books

It is usually the first Saturday in May. Our date for this year is May 4th. Please mark this date in your calendar as well.
You will receive an exact schedule via email prior to this day of when to be there for your dancer’s pictures in their recital costume. Note, this is also the same day as Costume pick up and when the balance on a dancer’s account must be paid in full.
Optional Items to Purchase for Recital 2024
ADs for the Program Books
T-Shirts and Sweatshirts
You will get to see a preview of the Recital apparel in Studio on Picture Day.
You will get to see our brand for the 2025 -2026 dance season on Dress Rehearsal.
Flowers and Bears for your Dancer (Our Company Fundraiser)
These items will all be on display before the performances for purchase and on the day of Dress Rehearsal.
Attendance
An excessive amount of absences from weekly classes could mean the dancer will not be able to perform in the Recital due to the dancer not knowing the choreography. Our instructors will give their best effort, but please make every effort to have exceptional attendance so your dancer will be able to learn and improve. Special circumstances are decided on a case by case basis by the instructor.
No credit or refund will be given for classes missed by students. We do not grant a leave of absence for students. Any time your child misses a lesson, that dance time may be made up by attending one of our other classes.
Should a student miss class because of illness, a make-up class can be scheduled with prior instructor consultation as to appropriate class placement.
If a student is unable to attend, please notify The Studio:
By calling The Studio - 913-764-7790
By emailing The Studio - studiosodance@gmail.com
Logging into your DSP parent portal and making the notification
We reserve the right to reschedule or cancel a class time for reasons of insufficient enrollment or instructors’ professional discretion.
Dismissal
Any dancer may be dismissed from SSOD at any time due to non-payment, unsatisfactory conduct or attitude by the dancer and/or parent/s at the sole discretion of the Owner. No refunds will be given.
Withdrawal
Non-attendance does NOT mean you have dropped your classes and/or withdrawn from SSOD. If you wish to withdraw, you must email us at studiosodance@gmail.com 30 days prior to your withdrawal date. This means that once your email request is received, your account will be charged for ONE month’s tuition of current class enrollment. For any recital fees associated with your current classes, there is NO REFUND.
Your account will continue to be charged through the 30 days and you will owe that amount as part of your contractual agreement.
For example, if you notify us of your withdrawal in December, you will pay for January. Upon payment via Auto-Pay draft, your account will be deactivated and the student will be removed from the registered classes. ALL RECITAL FEES are NON-REFUNDABLE.
Class Changes (Add, Drop or Change Level)
There is a 6 week period from the time of registration/the first day of our season, to drop, add or change level of a class.
Commitment and Legal Fees
In the event that your balance is referred to our collection agency, you agree to pay the fees associated with doing so. You agree to all statements in this registration agreement by your child’s participation in class.
Hold Harmless Clause
I understand and agree that in participating in any dance class, workshop, rehearsal or performance, there is an inherent risk of physical injury. I voluntarily agree, therefore, to assume all risks and responsibility for any such injury or accident, which might occur to me or my child during any of SSOD classes, rehearsals, performances or activities. I also exempt, release and indemnify The Studio School of Dance, its owners, agents, volunteers, assistants, contractors, employees, guest artists, faculty members, and/or students from any and all liability claims, demands, or causes of action whatsoever from any damage, loss, injury to me, my children, or property which may arise out of or in connection with participation in any classes or activities conducted by The Studio School of Dance. I further hereby voluntarily agree to waive my rights and that of my heirs and assigns to hold The Studio School of Dance, its owners, agents, volunteers, assistants, contractors, employees, guest artists, faculty members, and/or students liable for such damage, loss or injury.
