Welcome to ADC!
You must be over 18 to register for an account.
Attendance & Etiquette:
It is important for dancers to arrive to class on time. Please arrive 5 minutes early to change shoes, get ready, and catch up with friends. Please strive for 100% attendance! When possible, please let your instructor know ahead of time if you know you will be absent.
Building / Lobby Rules:
Keep in mind the parking lot, shared lobby and upstairs restrooms are common areas with neighboring businesses. Dancers should not be in these areas without teacher permission and/or adult supervision. Young dancers should be escorted in and out of the building at drop off and pick up. No food or drink is allowed in the lobby or dance rooms. (Water bottles OK)
Upstairs (including the stairs) is off limits to dancers without teacher permission or adult supervision to use and should only be used for the restrooms. Please be courteous to our neighbors and respectful of the shared areas by avoiding rambunctious or loud behavior and keeping it tidy. Dancers must be picked up promptly after class. For safety, dancers should wait inside the building for a ride. We cannot be responsible for siblings or non-dancers who are not in a scheduled class. Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult inside the studio any time they are not in class.
Dance shoes only are allowed on the dance floors. Please no street shoes. This includes parents. This helps prolong the life of our floors and keeps them clean. Lockers are for use during class time only. Locks are discouraged. Please do not bring valuables to the studio. The dance studio is not a playground. No running, hanging on ballet barres, etc.
Dancers are expected to follow the directions of their teacher. Please be respectful of your teacher and your classmates. The studio is a learning environment - no running or yelling is allowed. Please be quiet during class when other dancers are dancing - you can learn even more by watching!
Class Dress Code:
During class you are expected to wear appropriate, modest dance attire. Exercise clothing; t-shirts, shorts, skirts, leggings, capris are acceptable. No long pants, jeans, school uniforms or pajama bottoms (we need to see your knees and ankles for proper technique.) Correct dance shoes must also be worn at all times; no socks. Let us help you if you are in need of sizing up or sourcing new dance shoes. Please pull your hair back so it is out of your face.
We are a performance school and we anticipate all dancers will participate in all performances as they are able. As a courtesy to your teachers and fellow dancers, you must notify your instructor prior to any performance if you are unable to participate due to a conflict. If we don't hear from you, we will assume that you will be at the performance. The class before a performance is mandatory. Of course, emergencies do happen, and we will make exceptions due to sickness, injury, or family emergency. Please try to keep your commitment as much as possible - it's not fair to your fellow dancers to have to re-arrange a dance without you at the last minute! Dancers should plan to arrive at least 30 minutes earlier than our scheduled performance time, in costume and ready to dance.
You are responsible to maintain your costume properly. This includes repairing any rips or tears, and washing/ironing or dry-cleaning for a clean, polished look. Capes and headbands are part of the costume and expected to be worn. All dancers are expected to appear at performances properly groomed, with hair neatly done. Girls can style their hair however they choose, but we recommend pulling the sides out of your face, and curling whenever possible. Adults and advanced dancers must wear plain black, opaque tights with their costumes (no nylons or designs on the tights) as well as black trunks or biker shorts. Girls must wear white poodle socks. Boys must wear black socks (with either pants or kilt.)
ADC Intellectual property
ADC's logo, choreography, images and other intellectual property require written permission to be used for personal use.
Tuition for the year is divided and charged into 10 equal monthly installments—September to June. Tuition covers staff salaries, studio rent and maintenance, utilities, and administrative costs (insurance, licensing, etc). Because our monthly expenses remain the same, we cannot prorate for missed classes due to vacation or illness. Monthly tuition is the same, regardless of how many classes are held in the month. (Most months have 4 classes; occasionally, we have 3 or 5.) Summer classes are optional and are billed separately. In the very rare circumstance when ADC must cancel a scheduled class, a make-up will be offered. Private or semi-private lessons are also available. Tuition is due at a dancer’s first class of the month, or by the 5th. At this time auto-pay is optional, but encouraged. We reserve the right to require auto-pay on delinquent accounts. ACH (bank transfer) payment is appreciated and preferred due to the lower fees and reduced administrative effort. We are also happy to accept check/cash payments and payments through Venmo: @adc-irishdancers. Credit/debit card payments are available with a convenience fee. Because our teachers and landlord appreciate us paying them on time, your timely payments are appreciated too. Accounts that are past due are subject to a $20.00 per month late fee. A 30-day notice is required for when a dancer chooses to withdraw enrollment and discontinue tuition. All fees and tuition are nonrefundable.
The annual performance fee covers entry fees and venue rental for our summer show (Celtic Celebration), St. Patrick’s Day parade events, teacher salaries, and additional performance opportunities. This once-a-year fee is non-refundable and due with October tuition. It is collected early in the dance season due to the deposit required to secure venues for the performances at the end of the season. Fees are set based on entry fees and venue rental costs. We offer an optional fundraising opportunity to offset the cost of fees. There is a family max dollar limit set for this fee amount. Note that we strive to keep admission to our annual performance low or no cost for your family. As we are a performing school and all classes are focused on preparing performance pieces, we cannot allow "opting out" performing to avoid paying the performance fee.
Costume prices vary by class/level. We do our best to keep them reasonable. Irish costumes are not available off-the-rack, so much time is involved in designing, custom sewing, and embroidery. When feasible, we reuse traditional costumes the next year and/or give dancers the opportunity to purchase/sell used costumes to help defray costs. Deposits for traditional costumes are due in November, and the balance is billed in January to be ready in time to wear for St. Patrick's Day performances. At our annual Celtic Celebration, classes will perform a themed dance for which a separate costume is purchased. Celtic Celebration costumes are billed in April or May to wear at our show in June. We offer an optional fundraising opportunity to offset the cost of fees. Costume fees are non-refundable, and dancers will not be given costumes that are not paid in full.
Registration fees are for new and re-enrolling (those who paused their enrollment) dancers. This holds your spot in the class and communicates your commitment. First month of tuition is due at registration in order to hold a dancer's spot and is non-refundable. Continuing dancers are not charged registration fees year to year if there is no pause in enrollment, but may be required to pay first month's tuition to confirm commitment at Fall Enrollment. This is a deposit for the year and is non-refundable.
Additional dancers enrolled from the same immediate family or household receive a 10% discount on tuition only.
Limited scholarship funds are available and must be applied for annually. Contact us for details.
Our studio grows mainly by word-of-mouth. Your referrals are appreciated. One-time referral credits are available for dancers who bring new students to us. Please contact us for information.
