Registration and Tuition
All dance class registration is done online. Registration and class fees are posted on our website. This offers parents more convenience and access to their account 24 hours a day. Your automatic payments come out of your checking account or credit card account on file. You may pay with other forms of payment before the due date if you wish. If payment is not received by the monthly due date, your card held on file will be automatically charged. There is a $36 fee for ALL returned checks and returned automatic payments.
Tuition is due by the 10th of each month.
Tuition is based on a 10-month dance year. Payments are broken up into 10 monthly installments for your convenience. Tuition is non- refundable and is paid to save your child’s place in class. If your child has decided to stop attending class you inform the studio at least 2 weeks before payment is due. If we are not contacted we will continue to bill you for saving your child’s place in class. Dropping a class prior to the end of the season will result in a $50 drop fee.
Dress code is required for all classes.
Please see Dress code descriptions and all other information on our website www.mzdancecompany.com
If a student is not dressed appropriately they may be asked to sit and watch class or take notes. Please no gum, loose jewelry or street shoes on the dance floor. Also, only water is permitted on the dance studio floor area. Any food or snacks must be eaten in the lobby or kitchen areas. Students cell phones, and smart watches ect. must be kept on silent and stowed away with their belongings during classes. Parents and family members please wait for a natural break in the class before using our restroom facilities located in the back of the studio.
Social Media
Please tag us @mzdancecompany and use our hashtag #mzdc on any of social media posts. We love seeing you having a great time dancing and all your beautiful faces! Please do not post entire routines on public sites as to not give spoilers or the opportunity for others to steal choreography.
Insurance
MZ Dance Company does not carry medical insurance for its students. It is required that all dance students be covered by their own family insurance policies and if injury occurs it is understood that the student’s own policy is your only source of reimbursement.
Bad Weather
The studio will usually follow the Pinellas County schools’ decision on class cancellation for bad weather. We will alert you by 3:00 p.m. to inform you of any cancellations. MZDC reserves the right to cancel classes at our discretion. We will not put any child in danger due to weather. Any classes that are canceled can be made-up by attending another class close to the same level.
Holidays
The studio will be closed for the following Holidays: Halloween (Oct 31), Thanksgiving (Nov. 21st-25th), Pinellas county Winter Break, and Spring Break. Labor Day and Memorial Day. Students who have a class that falls on Halloween or Labor/Memorial Day, can come to a make-up class during that week. Special events and guest Instructor Master Classes may be offered during longer breaks.
Attendance and Tardiness
If a student is more than 15 minutes late, they will not be allowed to participate in class that day and may sit and watch the remaining amount of class. Students coming in late cause too much distraction, delay, and will not be properly warmed-up for class which is a safety issue. Good attendance is imperative, as absences and tardiness can hold back an entire class.
*If more than 10 classes are missed the dancer will be required to pay for private lessons if they wish to participate in the next recital. Please make every effort to attend every class. Missed classes may not be deducted from tuition payments as we do not prorate. Make-up classes should be attended by coming to another class close to the same level.
Make-Up Policy
If for any reason your child cannot attend class, including illness they are encouraged to attend a make-up class within the month. (No extra charge for make-up.) Please see front desk for proper placement.
Dropping off and picking up dancers
Parents are welcome and encouraged to drop their child off for dance class. Parents may want to stay for younger children in combo classes. Please be on time to pick up your child after class. If parent is more than 10 minutes late after the last class of the night, you will be charged $1.00 per minute to pay for the staff member to stay and supervise your child. This charge will be added to your bill.
Private Lessons
Advance payment is required for all privates. Cancellations must be made 24 hours prior to scheduled lesson. A $20.00 fee will be charged for a no show. Please schedule all privates at the front desk.
Lobby Area
We have a beautiful open atmosphere in our lobby area. In order to help keep the dancers focused and less distracted, please silence your cell phones and take phone calls outside and keep talking levels down. We thank you in advance. Refrain from smoking and keep our lobby neat and tidy. Please help us to promote the most positive dance environment possible and make everyone feel welcome and safe.
Communicating with Instructors
We work very hard to keep you informed by emails, social media and updating our Website. However, it is your responsibility to keep up to date by reading newsletters, e-mails, and checking the information board and Website. If you have a question please do not ask instructors during classes. Please visit the front desk or email us where we will be more than happy to help you with any questions. The Instructors have a very tight schedule and are not able to meet with parents during class because it can use up valuable class time. If you need to talk personally to an instructor please schedule an appointment with the front desk so that the instructors can give you their full attention. Please respect all the instructor’s private time by NOT calling or texting them at home.
Recitals
MZ Dance company produces 2 recitals a year. Our Winter recital will be in January and our Spring Recital will be in the beginning of June. Dates will be announced at the beginning of the year. The dress rehearsals are mandatory for anyone wanting to perform in the recitals. Dancers who do not attend the dress rehearsal WILL NOT be allowed to perform in the recital *exceptions can be made on a case by case basis for emergency situations.
Recital Costumes
COSTUME FEES are due the first week of November.
Recital costume fees for our Spring show are per class. Combo classes only need to purchase one costume for both Ballet and Tap. If a dancer is in more than one class he or she will need to purchase additional costumes. Dancers ages 7+ fees are $75.00 per class, with a reduced price for students 4 and under. The Recital/Costume fee is due early February 6th so that costumes can be ordered on time. You may pay money towards your costumes at any time before the costume fee is due. Students will be measured for costumes during class by the instructors. All costumes will be selected by instructors and approved by the Artistic director. Once costumes are ordered there are no refunds or size changes. Most costumes come completed, although any alterations needed are the parent’s responsibility. We can help give instructions or recommend seamstresses if needed. All tuition accounts must be up to date to order costumes. Any costumes that are ordered after the original order goes in may have to pay additional fees for extra or expedited shipping so they can be here in time for recital. *Also, please note that you may need to purchase a small costume accessory (dance shorts, wrap skirt ect) for our Winter recital.
Videotaping and Photos during Recital and Dress Rehearsal
The recital will be recorded using professional equipment, and digital copies will be available for purchase. Discreet photos or short video clips may be taken from your seat during the performance: however, no “flash†photography, tripods, standing or blocking of any aisle is allowed during the performances. Thank you for respecting each other’s experience as an audience member. We will let you know when the digital downloads are ready for pick up at the studio. DVDs are available for an additional price.
