7. Elevate Office Etiquette (Parents)
Parental support is very necessary in helping students understand that they are a unique individual whose level of natural talent and physical ability differs from their friends or others in their dance classes and is imperative to a peaceful and productive studio environment that parents encourage and support their dancer. Below is the parent code of conduct. Please review and sign. All policies will be enforced to the fullest extent. Violating a “Zero Tolerance†policy will result in immediate dismissal of your dancer. Other consequences may include suspension, loss of scholarship or eligibility, or dismissal from the company, and any company related activities.
6.1. Parents must commit to a drama-free environment. This includes gossip or
negative speech regarding staff, faculty, administration, other students and parents.
Zero Tolerance.
6.2. Parents must not under any circumstances disclose their tuition/or financial
assistance status with another parent or student.
6.3. Parents must not threaten staff, faculty, administration, another student, or
another parent. Zero Tolerance
6.4. Parents must not engage in inappropriate conversation while in the Elevate
facility or waiting areas.
6.5. Parents must not under any circumstances enter a studio classroom while class is in session unless permitted by the instructor.
6.6. Parents must not directly address any serious concerns with an Instructor or Director. All concerns must first be addressed with our Dean of Admissions, and if necessary a meeting will be arranged. Zero Tolerance
6.7. Parents must not under any circumstances give money, or overly
lavious gifts, to an instructor/director/choreographer with the intent to gain special
treatment or bribe for specific placement within the program or production for a student. Zero Tolerance
6.8. Parents must not use corporate communication channels ( i.e. groupme, text groups, or remind etc. ) that has been created to help with general communication, to address personal concerns involving your dancer. If you feel there is a concern that needs assistance please reachout to your parent liaison and request a meeting if necessary.
6.9. Parents must NEVER under any circumstances approach a student regarding another student. If there is a conflict please see your parent liaison to request a meeting to resolve any peer to peer conflict. Zero Tolerance
6.10. BEWARE OF BECOMING THE CLASSIC “DANCE MOM†or “STAGE PARENT†who pushes his/her children beyond their capabilities just to be able to “brag†about the 'difficult’ classes that they are taking or how “advanced†their children are. Children of these types of parents usually become so frustrated with their dancing that they “quit†and never realize the joy of dancing. These children usually label themselves as “failures†because they can never live up to their parents’ “impossible†expectations for them. Pushing a child too hard and too fast may also do harm to their body through injury. Dance training takes time and patience.
6.11. Please remain respectful to all faculty and staff this includes volunteers and parent lead roles. More importantly, the faculty’s judgment must be respected first and foremost. THE FACULTY IS LOOKING AT YOUR CHILD THROUGH TRAINED, EXPERT EYES. If the faculty's judgment is not respected in all areas of your child’s dance training, then we ask you to reconsider your participation in the program. Zero Tolerance
