It is the policy of the School of Carolina Ballet to maintain a positive and productive learning environment for all students and staff. As part of their training, students are expected to behave in a responsible and disciplined manner and to adhere to the rules and regulations below.
School of Carolina Ballet strives to ensure that all rules are clear and reasonable, and students are expected to observe the established Code of Conduct. The School reserves the right to suspend or dismiss any student whose conduct or attitude is found to be unsatisfactory.
School of Carolina Ballet emphasizes discipline, focus,positive attitude and proper etiquette in the studios and all other common areas within the facility.
1. Students are expected to arrive on-time, warmed-up, and in appropriate attire before class or rehearsals begin.
2. At the discretion of the School of Carolina Ballet, a high level of absenteeism may result in retraction of financial aid, when applicable, and separation from the program .
3. Students are to refrain from talking while in class.
4. Students are prohibited from hanging on barres.
5. If a student is late to class, they will be permitted to join class at the discretion of the instructor.
6. If a student needs to leave class early, they must notify their instructor before the beginning of class.
7. During class, students must keep their bags in the locker room or tidy within the studio of their class.
8. Students are expected to set a good example which includes, but is not limited to, appropriate language and conversation (including while speaking or texting on cell phones) within the studios and all common areas and while representing the School of Carolina Ballet in the community, outside of the facilities.
9. Students are asked to adhere to the assigned dance attire in alignment with the dress code on School of Carolina Ballet’s website.
10. NO gum, candy, food, or liquids, other than water, are allowed in the studios.
11. NO horseplay, no running, or rambunctious behavior which includes but is not limited to jumping on and off furniture.
Students and staff participating in the following actions/activities will be subject to disciplinary action:
1. Physical intimidation or injury
2. Theft
3. Verbal intimidation or harassment
4. Misbehavior
5. Sexual harassment
6. Possession of or under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol
7. Smoking: School of Carolina Ballet is a non-smoking facility
8. Firearms or weapons of any kind
9. Self-destructive behavior
10. Willful destruction or misuse of studios and facilities or another person’s personal property
