Policies - Stage Door Dance 2024-2025
1. FINANCES:
All tuition payments are due the first week of each month. Payments not received by the 7th of the month are subject to a $10 late fee. Payments not received by the 1st of the following month are subject to a $25 late fee. Students whose accounts are 30 days past due on tuition or any other fees will sit out of class until the account is brought up to date.
2. No refunds, transfers or credits at any time for any reason.
. Bounced check fee $30.00 service charge applied to repayment of bounced check. After one instance of a bounced check, payments will no longer be accepted by personal check- they will be accepted via bank check, money order or cash only.
3. FEES DUE UPON REGISTRATION:
a. Registration Fee = $30 per student/ 35.00 per family.. Non-refundable and valid for the entire season.
b. Company Fee = This covers classes- See company booklet
c. Competition Fees- See competition handbook
4. STUDENT PLACEMENT
WE DO NOT PLACE BY AGE-WE PLACE BY ABILITY, POTENTIAL, AND MATURITY OF EACH STUDENT. Teachers and director will evaluate each dancer and place on the appropriate level.
5. ATTENDANCE POLICY:
a. Students MUST attend all classes each and every week. Exceptions made due to illness. In the event of family vacations, parents should provide studio with prompt notice of a pending absence. In cases of family emergency, please phone the studio. Absences or tardiness can have a negative effect on the entire class. Excessive absences may result in being omitted from the annual showcase.
6. Students register for the year. Upon enrolling, that student is taking the place of another on a waiting list. If a student no longer wishes to continue their dance education with Stage Door, for any reason whatsoever, the studio is not responsible for refunding or transferring any monies already paid in advance securing the dancer’s spot in their class. There are NO exceptions. Parent or any other financially responsible adult will be required to pay half of the remaining tuition for the entire season upon leaving. A withdraw form must be filled out and signed by the parent in the studio, (not mailed.) At that time, student will be removed from the roster. Until then, they remain a student and will continue to be charged the monthly fee until such form is filled out and submitted to business office.
7. Company students are invited to audition by invitation only. Once a member of company, all students and parents must abide by the policies, rules and standards of our company class. All company members must have attended a Stage Door intensive.
8. Competition teams are chosen from company members ONLY. ALL competitive students are REQUIRED to attend ALL classes for the entire four weeks leading up to any performance event. There are NO exceptions and any student missing class during this time may be denied performance at that venue. Please refer to competition handbook for competition team rules and policies. Competition is a privilege, not a right. Any student not following the rules may be taken off a competition team at any time.
9. Respect ALL property. Facilities, venues and all belongings.
10.. Absences or Cancellations: Makeup lessons are not given for any missed lessons that are not cancelled by the director or instructor. If the lesson is cancelled by the director or instructor, a makeup lesson will be given at the end of the year.
11. Weather related cancellations: If TUNKHANNOCK school district has early dismissal or is cancelled due to WEATHER ONLY, then the studio will be closed also. (This does NOT apply to teacher in service days ) WEATHER ONLY. Watch T.V. for snow information. Saturday students: A message will be on the studio
recording if classes are cancelled on a Saturday due to weather.
12. Costumes- . All costumes are made to order and costumes must be paid in full in November- date TBA
13.Cell phones are not to be used during class time and should be turned off or on mute
14 CONDUCT-. STUDENTS AND PARENTS- We view behavior seriously. Profanity, unsportsmanlike conduct, and or gossip will not be tolerated. Students and parents will conduct themselves in an appropriate manner at all times, including performances and events in which our studio is being represented. Proper respect for instructors and all staff is expected of students, parents/guardians and siblings. Bring a good attitude to class. Attitudes that are disrespectful, uncooperative, or aggressive do not have a place at Stage Door. We expect our students to be kind, humble and encouraging to each other. Students found to be involved with drugs or alcohol will be suspended or expelled.
Any parent/guardian or student who disrupts class or approaches a teacher, another student or parent with the intent to cause dissent or disregard the policies and procedures of the studio will be dismissed immediately. Inappropriate remarks about any student, the studio or teachers on any social media site will be cause for immediate dismissal from the studio.
15.. ATTIRE- Students MUST come to class prepared in proper attire. (Listed below- READ CAREFULLY FOR EACH CLASS) Hair AS DESCRIBED PER CLASS and the appropriate shoes for that class.
A.) Children ballet- tap- jazz: Any color leotard and tights. Skirts may be worn. Ballet students should have pink ballet shoes, preferably split sole. Tap students-Black tap shoes. Jazz- black jazz shoes.(ask teacher for style)
B.) Teen and Pre -teen- All female dancers taking ballet must have a leotard, convertible tights, pink ballet shoes (leather or canvas- split sole preferred), and hair in a proper bun or ponytail. Male dancers taking ballet must have tight black shorts above the knee and a tank top. See #1 below
1.) All dancers in multiple classes including jazz, lyrical, and contemporary are able to wear, tight form-fitting dance shorts, 1/2 tops/sports bras, or leotards – tights optional. No loose clothing (this includes tank tops or t- shirts!) at any time. Hair must be up at all times. Buns, ponytails, or braids.
2.) All dancers taking tap are to wear capris or shorts . Tank tops are also permitted, but pants are not as we need to see your feet. Leotards and tights are also allowed for tap. NO PANTS.
HIP HOP- INCLUDING KIDS, please have CLEAN sneakers! Dance pants, capri’s etc… ARE permitted in hip hop class, must have leotard or dance top AND bring sweat pants!
ACRO- Convertible tights, any color. Dance shorts and leotard. Sports bras or tops or FITTED dance crops are allowed. NO BAGGY CROP TOP TOPS OR T- SHIRTS. Hair must be pony tailed, braided and put into a bun. Every class. If not dressed properly, student will sit out of class.
TECHNIQUE- Convertible tights, any color. Dance shorts and leotard. Sports bras or tops or FITTED dance crops are allowed. NO BAGGY CROP TOP TOPS OR T- SHIRTS. Hair must be pony tailed, braided and put into a bun. Every class. If not dressed properly, student will sit out of class.
16. Parents must come inside to pick up young children.
17. The studio reserves the right to use dance photographs for media use.
18. No one can observe classes in progress.
19. Photographing students or videotaping is strictly prohibited. This includes showcase.
20. Students on a waiting list will have the first available openings for the new season.
21. Periodically the studio will hand out important information. It is the responsibility of the parent or guardian to come in to the studio each week to see if there is new information for you, also to read information posted. It is your responsibility to pass this on to step parents, etc…
22. Please do not disrupt classes in progress.
23. There is an annual Showcase performed by students, and attendance is NOT an option. This is an end of season performance to show what they have achieved. Tickets are required.
24. Annual picture day will be held in the spring. Date TBA
25. A mandatory family packet – including one showcase t-shirt and one copy of our showcase filming must be paid for in September (75.00 per family.) Any additional t-shirts or filming copies may be ordered in April at an additional cost. If student discontinues classes, they do not receive these showcase items and no refunds are given.
26. Studio is not responsible for lost shoes, dance bags, etc.. Please write your name on all items.
27. Students not dressed properly for class will sit out of class.
28. Students cannot take classes, or help at dance camp or other studio while at Stage Door. We take our instruction seriously and cannot re-teach our students. However, there are special, highly -seasoned, exceptional teachers we would love to have our students absorb knowledge from. If visiting certain areas on vacation we will happily advise.
29. Do Not ask a student to show you something. Our helpers, including teens, are NOT teachers. Do not try things you see other classes doing until Miss Judy or Miss Sarah properly teach you.
30. If a student is unable to participate in class due to an injury, they are required to attend class to observe important instruction. They are still responsible for tuition and will participate when ready.
31. Extra instruction for anything needed is given ONLY at the discretion of the teacher and will be charged at the rate of a private class.
32. We are not responsible for USB show recordings not picked up by scheduled date.
33. Students are to remain inside the building at all times.
34. All of our information is sent via text message and our online portal. It is the parent’s responsibility to update phone numbers and emails. Please submit all questions by email (only) at stagedoordancepa@yahoo.com
