We (Irey Dance Academy, LLC) expect everyone to be treated with respect and kindness by our instructors, staff, fellow dancers and their families. Instructors, students and parents are expected to be kind and supportive of one another.Â
Etiquette and Attendance:
Dance training is built on standards that reflect respect and professionalism. These standards include listening to your instructor, following directions, and adhering to the required dress code.
During class we do not allow excessive talking, chewing gum, eating, wandering in and out of the room, hanging on ballet barres, climbing on the mats, or having a poor attitude.
We expect dancers to come ready to dance! We are excited to teach you!
Regular attendance is important for students to learn and develop proper body placement, alignment, strength, skill, and muscle memory. Dance classes are unique in that the student is learning an art form in addition to exercising the body physically. Consistent attendance is very important, as absences and tardiness can affect the class as a whole, and we want to ensure every student has the opportunity to succeed! Attendance the month before a performance is mandatory (unless there is an extenuating circumstance) to ensure everyone looks and feels their best on stage!
There is no provision for watching unattended students before or after class. Please do not leave little ones in the dressing room if they still require supervision.
Dress Code:
All female students must wear a leotard and tights with the appropriate shoes to each class and with hair secured away from the face. Ballet students must wear a leotard and pink tights with hair pulled back into a bun or off the neck. Each class will have a class leotard, tights, and studio approved shoes.
Boys must wear athleisure shirts and shorts/pants with studio approved shoes.
We don't allow baggy clothing in class. As teachers we must be able to check body placement and carriage to instruct proper technique. It is the responsibility of the parent and the student to come to class dressed in the proper attire.
Class Placement:
Placement is made with the ability of the individual student in mind. Advancement is not by classes as a whole. There is often a two or three year age span in each class but could be larger. If a student shows unusual progress during the year, a possible transfer to a more advanced class could occur.
Financial Responsibility:
Tuition is based on a full academic year made up of 36 weeks and divided into 9 monthly payments. Tuition is divided evenly and is the same for each month regardless of how many weeks are in a month.
All tuition accounts are required to be enrolled in our auto-pay program. All tuition is charged by auto-pay to your card on file on the 1st of the month.
Once registered, a student is enrolled in the full academic year, and no refunds or reductions will be allowed for classes missed. Please notify the office before the first of the month if you wish to withdraw from classes so we can stop your auto-payment.
It is the responsibility of the parent/guardian to make sure all tuition, dance wear, and costume fees are paid by the due date. No costumes go home until all unpaid balances are cleared.
Closings:
We reserve the right to close for emergency illness or injury that may occur to our instructors or their family members.
We will monitor and follow Marion City weather emergency levels. When in doubt call the studio, or check IDA's Facebook page.
Irey Dance Academy reserves the right to part ways with any student/parent that does not follow our policies and procedures.
