This Code of Conduct outlines appropriate standards of behaviour by adults towards children.
The Code of Conduct aims to protect children and reduce any opportunities for abuse or harm to occur. It also helps staff and volunteers by providing them with guidance on how to best support children and how to avoid or better manage difficult situations. All staff and volunteers are required to comply.
All staff, assistants and volunteers are responsible for promoting the safety and wellbeing of children and young people by:
• adhering to our Child Safe Policy, and other policies
• taking all reasonable steps to protect children from abuse
• treating everyone with respect, including listening to and valuing their ideas and opinions
• welcoming all children and their families and carers and being inclusive
• respecting cultural, religious and political differences and acting in a culturally sensitive way
• modelling appropriate adult behaviour
• listening to children and responding to them appropriately
• reporting and acting on any breaches of this Code of Conduct, complaints or concerns
• complying with our guidelines on physical contact with children
• working with children in an open and transparent way – other adults should always know about the work you are doing with children
• respecting the privacy of children and their families, and only disclosing information to people who have a need to know.
• Confident Kids Performing Arts School staff, assistants and volunteers and all other persons working or involved with the school must NOT:
- seek to use children in any way to meet the needs of adults;
- ignore of disregard any concerns, suspicions or disclosures of child abuse;
- use prejudice, oppressive behaviour or language with children;
- engage in rough physical games;
- discriminate on the basis of age, gender, race, culture, vulnerability or sexuality;
- initiate unnecessary physical contact with children or do things of a personal nature that children can do for themselves, such as toileting;
- develop ‘special’ relationships with specific children or show;
favouritism through the provision of gifts or inappropriate attention
- exchange personal contact details such as phone number, social
networking site or email addresses with children;
- have unauthorised contact with children and young people online or by phone.

Statement of commitment to Child Safety
Confident Kids Performing Arts School affirms our commit- ment to child safety by clearly stating we:
• have zero tolerance for child abuse;
• actively work to listen to and empower children;
• have systems in place to protect children from abuse, and will take all allegations and concerns very seriously and respond to the con- sistently in lie with our policy and procedures;
• are committed to promoting cultural safety for Aboriginal children, cultural safety for children from culturally and/or linguistically diverse backgrounds, and to provide a safe environment for children with a disability.

This heat policy is to ensure the safety of all at our Cranbourne West Studios. Whilst our studios are equipped with air-conditioning and fans, this policy has been created to ensure the health and safety of all our students, staff and families as heat stress and associated illness are very serious conditions.

When the temperature reaches 30 degrees Celsius or higher (at Cranbourne West) - classes will be modified for students to ensure they receive quality training, that is delivered safely. This may include less cardio and more stretching, “marking” through routines and other activities such as goal setting and performance skills. In some cases, classes, may be moved to our smaller room.

When the Temperature (at Cranbourne West) reaches 35 degrees Celsius during the day, we ask parents/guardians to please use their discretion as to whether to send your child for class. Some students will cope better than others in the heat. This may also depend on their activities during the day leading up to their class. For example, a sports day at school.


When the temperature reaches 38 degrees Celsius during the day (at Cranbourne West) classes will be cancelled unless a cool change is expected prior to the start of classes. This will be communicated to our families and all families affected will be notified via SMS.

As the weather is out of our control, we unfortunately do not offer refunds or credits for missed classes, we do however, as always, offer make ups. Your child is not required to attend a make up in the same style as the class missed and as per our terms and conditions must be organised within the current term. To book you make up, please contact us to arrange.

Please ensure your child brings water to each class. This is imperative.

I/we realise that participation in dance and performing arts classes and activities could involve some possible personal injury. Despite precautions, accidents and injuries may occur. By agreeing to this form (by ticking yes in the 'Injury Waiver' section of my enrolment form), I/we (the student and parent/guardian) assume all risks related to the use of any and all spaces used by Confident Kids Performing Arts School and Inspire Academy of Dance and Performing Arts.

I/we agree to release and hold harmless Confident Kids Performing Arts School and Inspire Academy of Dance and Performing Arts including its teachers, students, staff members and facilities used by Confident Kids Performing Arts School and Inspire Academy of Dance and Performing Arts from any cause of action, claims, or demands now and in the future. I, my heirs or legal representatives release, waive, discharge and covenant not to sue Confident Kids Performing Arts School and Inspire Academy of Dance and Performing Arts for injury or death.
I/we will not hold Confident Kids Performing Arts School and Inspire Academy of Dance and Performing Arts liable for any personal injury or any personal property damage, which may occur on the premises before, during or after classes.
Furthermore, I/we agree to obey the class and facility rules and take full responsibility for my/our behaviour in addition to any damage I/we may cause to the facilities utilised by Confident Kids Performing Arts School and Inspire Academy of Dance and Performing Arts.
I understand that it is my responsibility to consult with a physician prior to and regarding my/my child's participation in the Classes. I represent and warrant that I/they are physically fit and I have no medical condition that would prevent my/ their participation in the Classes. I understand that it is my responsibility to advise the Principal and Instructor of any injuries in writing, so the instructor can provide suitable modifications where required.

I understand that Confident Kids Performing Arts School and Inspire Academy of Dance and Performing Arts is insured. In the event that I/we should observe any unsafe conduct or conditions before, during or after my/our classes, I/we agree to report the unsafe conduct or conditions to the Director or Principal as soon as possible.
Students/Families/Guardians are required to agree to this waiver to take part in classes at Confident Kids Performing Arts School and Inspire Academy of Dance and Performing Arts.

If I am signing this waiver for my children, I certify that I am the parent or legal guardian and have the right to waive these rights.

I hereby grant permission for Confident Kids Performing Arts School and their staff to use any video footage, audio recordings and photo images taken of my child on their website, social media, advertising and youtube channel.
If you would not like to be included in our photos, videos or audio recordings, this is not a problem at all, PLEASE LET JENNY KNOW AT THE STUDIO SO WE CAN ADD YOUR CHILD TO OUR NO PHOTO LIST. If we have not been notified, we will assume you have granted permission.

Please find below our make up policy for solos (singing and dancing) and all music classes effective from Monday February 14 2022.

WHY HAVE WE UPDATED THE MAKE UP POLICY?
Solo and Music classes require an additional level of commitment when compared with group classes.
As our solo and music programs have grown significantly and we have employed some incredible staff it is important that we can support our staff and students, while being able to afford to continue to run these programs.
When there is a large number of absences, particularly as some solo classes run for up to an hour, this creates a situation where staff are at work, must be paid, and have no students in attendance. Due to this, providing unlimited make ups means the program is unable to run due to additional staffing costs.

WHAT IS THE POLICY?
- The studio office is to be notified of any absences prior to 48 hours before your scheduled class. This allows for us to notify our staff and attempt to fill this space with students waiting for a make up class.
- A make up will be offered if spaces become available (as other students notify us that they will be absent), while we will do our very best to suit each family, this cannot be guaranteed.
- Make ups can also be taken in any group class. For example solo guitar students may take part in a group guitar class as a make up.
- Any absences later than 48 hours notice will forfeit their class as we will be unable to offer your space to another student.
- Multiple absences per term will result in a review of the student's place in the program to ensure it is the best fit.

Should this level of commitment not suit your family, we completely understand and encourage you to consider transferring into our group classes with unlimited make ups. If this is something you wish to discuss, please let us know.
