Tuition & Payments:
All payments are non-refundable. Tuition is not reduced due to absences, illness, injury, inclement weather, nor any other circumstance. Fall 2024-Spring 2025 classes require an 8-month commitment (October thru the recital in mid June), so tuition is paid in 8 equal installments. The first month’s tuition is due along with the registration fee at the time of registration. After that, you will be automatically charged on the 1st of the month (November through May). The Recital Costume Deposit will be applied to your December payment, the Recital Costume Balance will be applied to your January payment, the Recital Fee will be applied to your March payment, and Recital Tickets go on sale in May. All payments are non-refundable. Payments received after the 5th of the month will be charged a 10% late fee. If payment is not received by the 15th of the month, your child will be unable to participate in class until your account is current with no past due balance.
Inclement Weather:
If there is inclement weather, please check the homepage of our website, Facebook/Instagram account, or your Dance Studio-Pro account for class cancellations.
Communication:
Also check the bulletin board every day you walk into the studio for important new information. As communication is two-ways, feel free to call or email the studio if you would like an update on how your child is progressing in class or if any area of concern arises.
Drop Off, Pick Up, and Tardiness:
Dancers under 6 years old need to be escorted into and out of the building by a parent or guardian. All dancers are expected to arrive at least 5-10 minutes before class, fully prepared. Dancers late to class should first apologize to their teacher then warm-up on their own before joining the class. After class, dancers are encouraged to wait inside the building for their ride. Parents, PLEASE PICK YOUR DANCER UP ON TIME.
Attendance
Attendance will be taken at every class and monitored during the year. Having good attendance is essential to the class' and the individual dancer’s improvement and progress. If your child will be absent for any reason, please notify UDS via email or phone/text before class.
Withdrawing From Classes:
Our classes require a commitment from February 1st thru the recital in mid-June. If you choose to withdraw from classes, you must do so in writing via email; we will not accept withdrawal notifications via phone call. If you withdraw after March 15th, you will be charged a withdrawal fee equivalent to one-month’s tuition on the date of your withdrawal.
Making-Up Missed Classes:
If you miss a scheduled class, you are allowed to make-up the class. contact us to let us know which class you will be taking to make-up a missed class. Dancers can take down a level in the genre, or take a different class in their level.
Private Lessons:
We love working one-on-one with dancers! Private lessons are excellent for enhancing overall technique as well as addressing specific needs and skills. Private lessons are $30/half hour and $55/hour. You will be charged in full for a private lesson unless a 4-hour cancellation notice is given.
Observation Windows:
No one besides dancers and staff are allowed in the dance studios. Classes may be watched through the observation windows, but please do not attempt to distract the dancers nor get their attention. Also, if you see that the teacher is having a difficult time keeping the dancers’ attention, please minimize your peeks into the studio.
Illness & Injury:
If your child is too sick to come to class or has had a fever of 100.4 or higher in the past 24 hours, they should not come to class. If your child has been fever-free for 24 hours but still does not feel well enough to dance, he or she should observe the class. If a dancer has an injury, we would appreciate a doctor's note explaining the length of time the child may not dance, and the dancer will be expected to observe class. If a dancer is observing a class due to illness or injury, he or she will be given paper to take notes about the class and will turn it in to the teacher at the end of class. UDS and its employees are not liable for any harm, illness, or injuries that may occur. Parents or guardians are fully responsible for this risk on behalf of their child.
Lost & Found:
Dancers’ names should be on their dance bags, shoes, and dancewear. Any items left in the studio at the end of the each day will be placed in our Lost & Found bin. If you’re missing anything, check the bin. UDS and its employees are not liable for any theft that may occur. Items not claimed by the last day of classes will be donated or discarded.
Hands-On Corrections:
Dance is a physical art form, so it should be understood that hands-on corrections will be necessary to supplement verbal corrections. This is stated to avoid any misunderstanding of intention.
Classroom Etiquette:
Be attentive and work on corrections when given. Do not talk when the teacher or another student is talking. Never sit down in a dance class. If you have any minor injury or anything to inform the teacher about, notify the teacher before class begins. Always applaud and thank your teacher at the end of class.
Sufficient Enrollment:
All classes are subject to sufficient enrollment. If a class has fewer than 3 students, the class will be shortened by 15 minutes that day.
One Last Note:
UDS is a respectful and positive environment. All dancers and parents must respect one another as well as the staff and facility at all times. Everyone should behave in a considerate, disciplined, and professional manner. Do not disrupt a class or rehearsal by opening the dance room door or getting your child’s attention through the observation window. UDS reserves the right to remove a dancer or parent due to inappropriate or disruptive behavior.
