Bracken Dance Academy Studio Policy Information
Please familiarize yourself and your child with this information. These policies will be enforced. If you have any questions concerning any of our policies, please contact us at 210-901-9403.
PLACEMENT POLICY
Our staff is extremely careful and concerned when choosing the correct level class for each student. It is very important to remember that all students are individuals with very different talents, skills and ability levels and they will not progress at the same rate. In maintaining a high quality of dance education, it is therefore sometimes impossible to keep the same students in class together year after year. The most important thing is that the student should be comfortable in their learning environment. We are a progressive studio, and ALL OF OUR CLASSES ARE CHALLENGING.
We encourage all our students to work hard and become the best dancers they can be, but they must work at a level that is suitable for them. Many students are easily discouraged when they are placed in a class too difficult for their current abilities.
ATTENDANCE
Bracken Dance Academy is a year-round training facility.
When you enroll your child in a class, you are paying us to hold a place in class for your child; therefore, each student is expected to attend the entire 10-month dance season, designated workshop period or summer session for which they are enrolled. The dancer who attends class regularly performs the best and excels at a steady pace. One absent dancer not only hurts the progress of the individual, it also inhibits the progress of the entire class.
Regular attendance to class is MANDATORY. IF your child is excessively absent for any reason, they may not be allowed to participate in our year-end performance. Students should avoid missing consecutive dance classes as teachers will not slow the pace of their class to accommodate a student who does not attend class regularly.
If a student is going to be absent, please notify the office 24 hours prior to class.
Make-up classes are not a good substitute for consistent class attendance. When necessary, make-up classes may be scheduled with the office in an equal or lower-level class if available during the same month the absence occurred. No tuition discount will be given for missed classes.
DROP OFF & PICK UP
Students should arrive at least 10 minutes before class so they will be ready to begin. Students should wait quietly in lobby until class time.
Students must be picked up no later than 15 minutes after class. All students are required to remain in the Bracken Dance Academy lobby until picked up by a parent. Please contact the studio immediately in case of extenuating circumstances to notify your child and teacher. If your child is enrolled in one of the last classes of the day, a late pickup fee of $10 is imposed if our staff must wait more than 15 minutes for your child to be picked up before we can close the studio.
DRESS CODE
A Studio Dress Code is in place for ALL CLASSES at Bracken Dance Academy. Students who do not have proper Dress Code by their 3rd week of classes, will not be allowed into classes. The dress code is in place, so classes are free from distractions and make it easier for the teachers to see mistakes and make corrections.
In addition:
The studio has a strict NO GUM policy.
Only WATER is allowed into the dance studios. Any food must remain in the lobby area.
Respect must always be shown for teachers, staff, other students, and visitors of Stone Oak Dance Academy.
TUITION & PAYMENTS
Tuition is based on the 10-Month Season or Summer Season and is divided into equal monthly installments. There is no tuition reduction for holidays or months with less than 4 weeks, as these are offset by months with more weeks.
Automatic Billing is available at no additional charge. Parents who do not wish to enroll in Automatic Billing may pay by Cash or Check Only and tuition is due on the 1st of each month. Checks may be made payable to Bracken Dance Academy. A Late Fee of $20 will be applied to tuition not received by the due date. Continued late payment of Tuition will result in a review of the students continued participation at Bracken Dance Academy.
There is a $35 fee for all returned checks and a $25 fee for Automatic Billing Payments that are declined due to insufficient funds or expired cards.
CLASS OBSERVATIONS
It is our philosophy that the purpose of dance class is to instruct, not to put on a show. Even the quietest observers do distract students and can make them self-conscious or apprehensive if they are constantly watched. For this reason, we have installed TV Viewing Screens in the Waiting Room for class viewing. Please DO NOT enter the classroom during the class for any reason, even if the class is changing shoes or taking a break. Siblings not participating in a dance class must be always accompanied by a parent and are not allowed to run or play in any area of the studio.
PERSONAL POSSESSIONS
Please bring all personal items in a bag. Loose items are liable to get lost or picked up accidentally by another child.
Please label all personal items with the child’s name in permanent ink to cut down on lost items. Please check Lost & Found for misplaced items. We discard unlabeled and unclaimed items at the end of EACH MONTH. Bracken Dance Academy is NOT RESPONSIBLE for lost items, labeled or unclaimed. DO NOT BRING VALUABLE ITEMS TO THE STUDIO.
STUDIO OFFICE HOURS and COMMUNICATIONS
Communication is important. We view your child’s dance education as a Team Effort between Student, Parents, Teachers, and Staff. Bracken Dance Academy Office Hours are by Appointment Only and the studio building will be open only when classes are in session. You are welcome to call us at (210) 901-9403 or email us at BrackenDanceAcademy@gmail.com to make an appointment to discuss any concerns you may have.
Email and Website are the main avenue for communicating information in a timely fashion to all concerned parties. Please check your email often. You will also have access to the Bracken Dance Academy App once enrolled.
