Attendance: Please arrive early and in appropriate dress for the class (see dress code). If you miss a class you may "make-up" in another age appropriate class within 30 days. There will be NO REFUNDS. Please call if you will be missing class. Dancers may not miss more than 2 classes in the session before recital. Assessment: Dancers will be placed in the level of class appropriate to the dancer. This will be done at teacher discretion. Assessments will be done all throughout the year. After the age of 8, age is no longer a factor but ability. We know that people move at different paces. Please trust that we are doing what is best for your child. Directors say is final. Intermediate and Advanced Lyrical, Jazz and Modern dancers are REQUIRED to take Ballet. Parent Observation: We ask parents of young children to wait in the room, behind the mirrors or close to the premises. If you are dropping your child off please be prompt in picking them up and leave a number we can contact you. There will be opportunities for parents to watch because the waiting area is in the same room. We ask you to not peek around the mirrors; it becomes distracting to the students. Please remember we are all in the same room. A lot of talking in the lobby gets loud and distracting. If it is to crowded and loud we may ask guest waiting for dancers to wait in their cars. Please label all articles of clothing and shoes. Defying Gravity is not responsible for lost items. Cancellations: We will not close for bad weather because school is closed. We will assess the weather around 1:00 and will decide then. If you are concerned please call. Make sure we have emergency numbers. If you are leaving the premises we need to know how to contact you. Late fee: Payments are due the first class of the session. We accept cash, checks, and credit cards. There is a $15.00 late fee. (If you are absent the week of payment, please pay the next week, after week 2 the late fee will be applied.) Payment by Check or Credit: There is a $25.00 charge for returned check or declined credit card. No refunds. The person’s name on the registration will be responsible for payment. Costumes: There will be a costume fee for recitals. Costumes for Junior and Combo classes will be ordered for June recital. Deposit due in October. For January kept as simple as possible. Parents are responsible for the cost of the costume. Older dancer’s costumes will either be ordered or rented from Defying Gravity Dance Studio. If we reuse a costume the student owns there will be no fee. We will try to keep the costs as low as possible. Questions: If you have any questions please feel free to call, e-mail, or leave a message on the Defying Gravity Dance Studio Facebook page. Medical Equipment: If your dancer is in need of something medical ( example: inhaler, brace, or medicine) please make sure they have it with them.
