To enrol at our studio the student along with their parent/guardian must read and agree to our terms + conditions, expectations, behaviours, policies and procedures outlined below!

We, the dancers, parents and staff of Starz in Stage Talent Academy are a vibrant community of people who have a high regard for each other, the art of dance and show respect in the work we do. All who participate in classes are requested to uphold the values and ethics of our studio by following the guidelines stated below. As an expression of our love of dance, our love to learn, our love to perform, we will always show respect to the parents, students, and staff of Starz on Stage and all of the wider dance community, including our competition. As dancers & athletes we consider it a privilege to participate in a community for the performing art of dance exemplifying the values of integrity, character, leadership, responsibility and professionalism.

Students/Parents/Guardians
Lifestyle: We are a smoke free environment so please don’t smoke in or around the property. Lead by example & have a healthy lifestyle!
Contact: All information must be updated if it changes. This includes your email address and mobile phone numbers. Ensure all student details are correct on dance studio-pro, including 2 emergency contacts, special/medical needs etc. Please also advise staff of any court & child custody orders.
Attendance: Regular attendance is necessary to attain full understanding and progression in classes. Punctual and consistent attendance is excepted of all Starz on Stage Talent Academy students in order to maintain our high performance standard. If unable to attend class, please text 0421507920 OR email: info@starzonstage.com.au well in advance to commencement of class. N.B Poor attendance may result in removal from routines at concert time.
Lessons: Students need to practice to improve their skills especially when competitions or shows are approaching. Also consistent practice is required at home each week to achieve and maintain flexibility.

Drop off & Pick up: Please note that students are to arrive on time as well as be collected at the completion of their class. If you are running late, especially to collect your child a FB message is required. If teachers are waiting at the studio beyond the conclusion of classes a $15.00 per 15mins fee will be charged to parents to cover the cost of teachers wages. The studio closes at 8.15pm each evening. We ask you respect the needs of our employees by being on time.

Personal safety: All students must remain inside the studio until they are collected by their parents or a responsible adult. This is for the safety of all students and must be adhered to.
Personal Property: Students are responsible for their own property. Starz on Stage will not be responsible for lost or stolen items.
Student lounge: It's important parents are aware that students use the students lounge without direct adult supervision. Staff are busy teaching/working & can not supervise children or help with making dinners & use of the kitchen facilities. Students are welcome to bring an ipod/ipad to use whilst waiting in the student lounge. All bags & items must be in the cubes provided. (Bags on the floor cause a trip hazard!)

Grooming: Hair must always be neat, slick ballet bun. Pony-tails, plaits, braids will not be accepted in 2024
Spray away fly aways - students with messy hair adapt a habit of constantly playing with their hair & this habit will continue on stage while they are performing.

Uniform: Starz on Stage Talent Academy uniform must be worn in if full entirety at all times, and must be worn to every lesson accompanied by the relevant footwear. No jewellery is to be worn in class at all. Small ear studs are allowed.
Shoes: Dance shoes should be correctly fitted and clean at all times. Correct foot wear must be worn in each class (i.e Tap shoes for tap, hip hop shoes for hip hop, ballet shoes for ballet etc)

Food: Unless there is an allocated break in students timetable, food is not to be brought into the studio. Under no circumstances is food to be taken in to dance studios. The designated area to consume food is in the student lounge only. Students must clean up after themselves, including washing up dishes + cutlery, rubbish in the bin & food scraps picked up off the floor.

Water: Every student must bring to class their own water bottle clearly marked with the student’s name. Juice, frozen drinks, fizzy drink, cordial etc is not permitted at the studio.

Videoing: Unauthorised videoing or photography of a student’s class is not permitted. There is NO personal video or photography permitted at our Showcase & Concert. (professional videoing provided)

Photos: At out Photoshoot parents must only take photos when standing in front of the SOS light.. This is to ensure you do not take a photo when a student is chaining in the back ground!

Intellectual Property: All routines choreographed by Starz on Stage Talent Academy teachers are the property of the studio. Students forfeit ALL of their solo/group routines if they do not continue lessons at SOS. Unauthorised use of such may result in official action being taken.

Illness: World health organisation recommends children avoid contact for 48hours after infectious illness (i.e vomiting / diarrhoea)

Conflict: Students enrolled at SOS are not permitted to dance or do any form of dancing genre at another studio. THIS INCLUDES BALLET, ACRO, TUMBLING. (one off workshops at other studios/gyms are permitted)
Viewing: Parents are not permitted to watch classes unless a prior arrangement has been made with the principal.

Fees Policy:
There are two options to pay fees: UPFRONT IN FULL or PAYMENT SCHEDULE
Fees can be paid up front and in full by week 2 of the term. If you choose to pay upfront, fees must be paid by week 2 of the term or your child / children will not be able to participate in class.

If fees are not paid upfront or prior to the commencement of the term, you must arrange a weekly/fortnightly payment schedule. All payment schedules must be discussed with the principal and approved before the commencement of the term. Your child will not be able to participate in class if you have not arranged a schedule and made one payment before week 2. If you miss a payment you must notify the principal immediately, failure to adhere to your schedule will result in late fees & your child will not be able to participate in class.
Payments can be made by direct debit, stripe, paypal or at reception by EFT. No cash payments are accepted.
Overdue accounts will be charged an additional $15 per month per invoice.
If parents have difficulty paying fees, please email info@starzonstage.com.au or hand a note to reception to discuss financial arrangements prior to due payments.

No refund or credit is given for missed classes (In the case of an extreme medical conditions considered, a credit may be offered IF parents email requesting & it has been approved by the principal)

By enrolling in term 3 2024, you therefore agree to pay ALL costume fees. If you cease your enrolments any time during term 3 you will still be required to pay ALL costume fees. If your child pulls out of the concert in term 4 a $50 re-blocking/re-spacing fee will be charged. By signing this waiver you agree to pay the re-spacing/ re-blocking fee.

If you choose to cease your enrolment at Starz on Stage in 2024, parents must notify the principal via email, or fees will be continue to be charged.

There are no refunds for concert & costume fees
There are no refunds on term fees
There are no refunds on private dance fees
There are no refunds on registration/music/license fees
There are no refunds on uniforms
There are no refunds on ticket purchase, this includes disco, concert, showcase, formal etc

Students Behaviour:
All mobile phones must remain in students bags at all times & be switched to silent whilst in class.
Please do not use spray deodorants inside the studio. Please only bring roll on deodorant. Some students are allergic to sprays which can cause breathing problems
Bullying is not tolerated. Students are to be kind & respectful towards their fellow students, teachers & the principal.
Students need to remember they are a role model for other students and show leadership by setting an example through their actions and speech. They need to embrace the dance family rules.

All students need to take responsibility for adhering to the rules of our studio. To bring up concerns with the appropriate person and be willing to receive direction and coaching as appropriate.
All students need to represent a high level of integrity and avoid gossip, criticism or discouraging comments about fellow students, teachers, others involved in our studio or the wider dance community.

Tardiness. If late to class, please use correct etiquette, quietly apologise and then wait for instructions for warming up.

Dance Room Etiquette: We want to keep our studio as clean as possible. Please remember to always pick up after yourself. There is absolutely NO chewing gum, food or drink (other than bottled water) in the dance studios. All dance bags need to be placed in the cubes.
Students must only bring healthy food to the studio. Lollies, chips, chocolate, sugary snacks etc are not permitted.
Good Manners: Please do not speak while you are being given instructions. Be polite and speak in turn. Students, please remember the teacher is there to make you the best dancer you can be, so listen carefully to corrections and try to apply them enthusiastically. Do not criticise others as it is the teacher’s job to identify and make corrections.
Classroom entry: Students & parents should not enter the room whilst a class is in progress unless invited.
Be committed to giving 100% at all times.

Query & Complaint Procedure
If your query/complaint about your child is lengthy or of a private nature please arrange to make an appointment with Miss Alisha. Requests can be made in writing to reception or by emailing info@starzonstage.com.au, or phoning the studio. Please advise if you need a specific teacher at the meeting. Appointments will be no longer then 30mins or a fee will be charged.
All complaints and queries will be dealt with promptly, seriously and with sensitivity and remain confidential.

In the event students &/or parents do not adhere to the policies outlined above, their enrolment at Starz on Stage will be cancelled.

Child Safe Code of Conduct: STARZ ON STAGE TALENT ACADEMY (version 1)
This Child Safe Code of Conduct outlines appropriate standards of behaviour for all adults at the studio towards students. It serves to protect students, reduce any opportunities for abuse or harm to occur, and promote child safety. It guides how to best support students and how to avoid or better manage difficult situations.
It is our policy that any breach of the Child Safe Code of Conduct is a child safety incident that must be reported internally.
Our Child Safety Program also includes a Staff and Student Professional Boundaries policy that provides detailed guidance for all Staff and volunteers on how to maintain professional boundaries between students and people in positions of trust at Starz on Stage.
The Child Safe Code of Conduct applies to all adults; including:
the Principal
all staff members, including non-teaching Staff and temporary or casual Staff and Volunteers

Code of Conduct
Some staff members at the studio may have other professional or occupational codes of conduct that regulate their profession or occupation and must comply with these other codes of conduct. If the staff member, considers that there is a conflict between their professional or occupational code of conduct and the Child Safe Code of Conduct in a particular matter, the relevant staff member, must seek advice from their professional or occupational regulatory body and/or a Child Safety Officer and must advise the Principal of their proposed course of action.
The Child Safe Code of Conduct
Each member of our studio environment is responsible for promoting the safety and well-being of students by adhering to the following standards of behaviour.
Do:
Uphold and act in accordance with the Child Safe Policy at all times.
Comply with applicable guidelines with respect to child safety, such as the Staff and Student Professional Boundaries policy.
Behave as a positive role model to students.
Promote the safety, welfare and wellbeing of students.
Be vigilant and proactive with regard to child safety and protection issues.
Provide age-appropriate supervision for students.
Treat all students with respect.
Promote the safety, participation and empowerment of students with a disability.
Promote the cultural safety, participation and empowerment of linguistically and culturally diverse students and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.
Use positive and affirming language towards students.
Respect cultural, religious and political differences.
Help provide an open, safe and supportive environment for all students
Intervene when students are engaging in bullying or inappropriate behaviour towards others, for example, humiliating or vilifying others.
Report any breaches of this Child Safe Code of Conduct.
Report concerns about child safety and ensure that your legal obligations to report child abuse or other harm externally are met.
Where an allegation of child abuse or other harm is made, ensure as quickly as possible that the student involved is safe.
Call the Police on 000 if you have immediate concerns for a student's safety.
Respect the privacy of students and their families and only disclose information to people who have a need to know.
Do Not:
Engage in any form of inappropriate behaviour towards students or expose students to such behaviour.
Engage in prejudicial or oppressive behaviour or use inappropriate language with students.
Discriminate against any student on the basis of characteristics that are protected in anti-discrimination legislation or express personal views that support or promote such discrimination.
Engage in open discussions of an adult nature in the presence of students.
Engage in any form of sexual conduct with a student including making sexually suggestive comments and sharing sexually suggestive material.
Engage in inappropriate or unnecessary physical conduct or behaviours including doing things of a personal nature that a student can do for themselves, such as toileting or changing clothes.
Engage in any form of physical violence towards a student including inappropriately rough physical play.
Use physical means (other than as expressly outlined in our Student Restraint Policy) or corporal punishment to discipline or control a student.
Engage in any form of behaviour that has the potential to cause a student serious emotional or psychological harm.
Develop ‘special’ relationships with students that could be seen as favouritism (for example, the offering of gifts or special treatment for specific students).
Engage in undisclosed private meetings with a student who is not your own child.
Engage in activities with a student who is not your own child, outside of school hours
Take or publish (including online) photos, movies or recordings of a student without parental/carer consent.
Post identifying information about a student online unless it is necessary for the 
studio or you have consent from the student and/or their parent/carer. Identifying information includes things such as the student’s full name, age, e-mail address, telephone number, residence, school, or details of a club or group they may attend.
Ignore or disregard any suspected or disclosed child abuse or other harm.
Agreement to the Child Safe Code of Conduct 
The studio provides a copy of the Child Safe Code of Conduct to all Staff, relevant Volunteers or otherwise prior to them commencing work at the studio.
All Staff, and Direct Contact and Regular Volunteers must sign an agreement to adhere to the Child Safe Code of Conduct before commencing work.
The Child Safe Code of Conduct and Reportable Conduct
Our Child Safety Codes of Conduct outline expected standards of behaviour for all Staff. However, breaches of these Codes of Conduct will not always be Reportable Conduct. For example, a Volunteer accepting a social media ‘friend’ request from a student would be a breach of our Child Safety Codes of Conduct but may not amount to Reportable Conduct.
These kinds of breaches of our Child Safety Codes of Conduct can be dealt within the stdio and we do not need to report them to the Office of the Childrens’ Guardian.
Consequences for Breaching this Child Safe Code of Conduct
Staff, Principal & Volunteers who breach the Child Safe Code of Conduct may be subject to disciplinary actions that may result in a range of measures including (depending on the severity of the breach):
remedial education
counselling
increased supervision
the restriction of duties
suspension
in the case of serious breaches, termination of employment, contract or 
engagement.

Where any other member of the School community breaches any obligation, duty or responsibility within our Child Safe Code of Conduct, the studio will take appropriate action.

Report Any Concerns
Whenever there are concerns that a child or young person is in immediate danger, call the Police on 000.
Staff
It is our policy that any breach of the Child Safe Code of Conduct is a child safety incident. Therefore, all Staff, Direct Contact and Volunteers, who witness, or suspect, any breach of this Code of Conduct must report their concern internally to the Principal. Note that reporting internally does not change any obligation that Staff may have under legislation to report to an external authority.
Our Child Safety Program includes information for the Staff & volunteers about how to identify key indicators of child abuse or other harm and how to report child safety incidents or concerns internally. It also contains detailed procedures concerning the reporting of child safety incidents or concerns to relevant authorities..
Students
Students who are the victim of, or who witness or suspect a breach of the Child Safe Code of Conduct can:
disclose the child safety incident or concern to any staff member or volunteer
This might be done:
o verbally
o in writing
o through electronic means (such as email) or anonymously

Parents/carers, family members or other community members 
Parents/carers, family members or other community members who witness or suspect that there has been a breach of this Code of Conduct, or have concerns that a child or young person associated with the studio may be subject to abuse or harm from a member of Staff or Volunteer should contact The Principal.
Communications will be treated confidentially on a ‘need to know basis’.

Student Duty of Care Policy: STARZ ON STAGE TALENT ACADEMY (version 1)
Policy
Starz on Stage Talent Academy, the Principal and staff owe a duty to take care of students whilst they are involved in dance activities or are present for the purposes of dance lessons.
This duty of care is non-delegable meaning that it cannot be assigned to another party.
This duty of care requires taking reasonable measures, regarding all the circumstances, to protect students from risks of harm and injury that should have been reasonably foreseen.
It also extends to taking reasonable care that any student (and other person) on the studio premises will not be injured or damaged because of the state of the premises or things done, or omitted to be done, concerning the premises.
The standard of care required is that of a “reasonable” teacher. This means that the duty of care owed is the duty one would expect from a hypothetical teacher with normal skills and attributes exercising their professional judgment.
At Starz on Stage, we manage student safety through a combination of policies, staff learning, assurance and management reporting.
The studio has also established our Work Health and Safety (WHS) Program which is designed to create a “work safe” culture for staff and a safe environment for students,& volunteers.
Individual circumstances will determine what constitutes reasonable care. The following issues may be considered in assessing the reasonableness of the level of care in any particular circumstance:
-  the student’s age, experience and capabilities – younger students require more care than mature students
-  physical and intellectual impairment – students with disabilities are exposed to higher levels of risk of injury than students without a disability
-  medical condition – special care must be taken to protect students with known, or ought to be known, medical conditions that expose them to a higher risk of injury (e.g. asthma or epilepsy)
-  behavioural characteristics – the level of care is increased where students are known to behave in a manner that increases the risk of injury
-  the nature of hazards present – increased care is required if the activity has an inherently high level of risk of injury or the activity takes place in a hazardous environment
-  any conflicting responsibilities the studio or teacher may have 

Civil Liability Laws
The Federal and state/territory governments have enacted civil liability laws that apply concerning claims for damages resulting from negligence.
These laws limit liability in certain circumstances including, in broad terms:
-  the studio does not owe a duty of care to warn of an “obvious risk”
-  the studio will not be liable for harm suffered as a result of the materialisation of an “inherent risk”. 


Privacy Policy: STARZ ON STAGE TALENT ACADEMY (version 1)
Policy
This statement outlines Starz on Stage Talent Academy’s Policy on how it uses and manages personal information provided too, or collected by it.
The Studio is bound by the Australian Privacy Principles contained in the Commonwealth Privacy Act 1988. Starz on Stage may, from time to time, review and update this Privacy Policy to take account of new laws and technology, changes to operations and practices and to make sure it remains appropriate to the changing studio environment.
Collection of personal information
The type of information the studio collects and holds includes (but is not limited to) personal information, including health and other sensitive information, about:
• pupils and parents and guardians before, during and after the course of a student enrolment at the studio, including:
o Name, contact details, address, (including next of kin), date of birth, gender, language background
o Medical information (e.g. details of disability and allergies, absence notes
o Volunteering information; and
o Photos and videos at events.
job applicants, staff members, volunteers and contractors including
o Name, contact details (including next of kin), date of birth, and religion;
o Information on job application;
o Professional development history
o Salary and payment information, including superannuation details;
o Medical information (e.g. details of disability and allergies, and medical certificates); o Complaint records and investigation reports; 
o Photos and videos at events.
The studio will generally collect personal information held about an individual by way of online on Dancestudio-pro, forms filled out by Parents or pupils, emails and telephone calls. On occasions, people other than Parents and pupils provide personal information.
Management of personal information
The studio will use personal information it collects for the primary purpose of collection and used reasonably expected, or to which consent has been granted.
In relation to the personal information of pupils and Parents, the studio’s primary purpose of collection is to enable the studio to provide tuition for the pupil, exercise its duty of care, and perform necessary associated administrative activities, which will enable pupils to take part in all the lessons and events. This includes satisfying the needs of Parents; the needs of the pupil; and the needs of the studio throughout the whole period the pupil is enrolled.
The purposes for which the studio uses the personal information of pupils and Parents include:
to keep Parents informed about matters related to their child's dancing, through correspondence, newsletters, emails, push notifications & Facebook updates
day-to-day administration of the studio
looking after pupils' social and medical wellbeing;
seeking donations and marketing for the studio; and 

The purposes for which the School uses the personal information of job applicants, staff members and contractors include:
in administering the individual's employment or contract;
for insurance purposes;
to satisfy the School's legal obligations, for example, concerning child protection legislation.
The studio treats marketing and seeking donations for the future growth and development of the business as an important part of ensuring that it continues to be a quality learning environment in which dancers thrive.

Parents, staff, contractors and other members of the wider community may from time to time receive fundraising information.

Disclosure and storage of personal information 
The studio may disclose personal information, including sensitive information, held about an individual for, administrative and support purposes. This may include to: 

concert, photoshoot, eisteddfods and other competitions and events held by the studio
staff & teachers
recipients of studio publications, such as newsletters
anyone you authorise the School to disclose information to; and
anyone to whom we are required or authorised to disclose the information to by law, including child protection laws.
The studio may use online or 'cloud' service providers to store personal information and to provide services to the studio that involve the use of personal information.
Treatment of sensitive information
In referring to 'sensitive information', it means information relating to a person's racial or ethnic origin, sexual orientation or practices, that is also personal information; and health information and biometric information about an individual.
Security of personal information
All staff are required to respect the confidentiality of students' and Parents' personal information and the privacy of individuals.
The studio has in place steps to protect personal information from interference and loss, unauthorised access, modification or disclosure by use of various methods including locked storage of paper records and password-protected access rights to computerised records.
Enquiries and complaints
If you would like further information about the way the studio manages the personal information it holds, or wish to complain that you believe the studio has breached the Australian Privacy Principles please contact the Principal by writing or email. The principal will investigate any complaint and will notify you of the making of a decision about your complaint as soon as it is practicable after it has been made.

1. Work Health and Safety Program: STARZ ON STAGE TALENT ACADEMY (version 1)
Workplace health and safety (WHS) laws and regulations seek to protect the health, safety and welfare of workers and other people at work. They also aim to ensure the health and safety of the public is not put at risk by work activities. These laws, regulations, codes of practice and standards can be divided into three general categories:
Work Health and Safety (WHS) laws and regulations deal with processes and procedures that a school must implement to ensure a safe working environment.
Workers Compensation and Injury Management laws and regulations are designed to manage injuries once they have occurred, through the provision of compulsory insurance, injury management, and Return-to-Work Programs.
Work Safe Policies that are designed to control workplace hazards.Starz on Stage Talent Academy has established this WHS Program to comply with WHS laws and to ensure that we maintain a safe workplace.
this Work Health and Safety Program sets out the details of the processes and procedures we have adopted to meet our WHS obligations including defining roles and responsibilities, our consultation mechanism and how we identify hazards and undertake risk assessments

We analyse identified workplace safety hazards by considering the effectiveness of existing risk controls and then determine the likelihood of the risk event occurring and the potential consequences should the risk event occur.
Once risks are assessed they are rated as either Low, Moderate, High or Extreme.
We can either accept a risk, based on our assessment of relevant controls, or we can implement a treatment plan, to further reduce, or eliminate, the likelihood of the identified risk event occurring.

The primary responsibility for health and safety in a workplace lies with the Person Conducting the Business or Undertaking. The Primary duty of care is to ensure, so far as “reasonably practicable” that workers and other persons (for example students and parents) are not exposed to health and safety risks arising from our activities or undertakings. This duty covers both workers engaged by Starz on Stage Talent Academy and workers.
Starz on Stage Talent Academy’s duty of care applies “to the extent to which we can influence and control the matter” which in effect creates a situation where Starz on Stage Talent Academy can ensure the safety of workers. 
For Starz on Stage to ensure, so far as is “reasonably practicable”, that workers, or other persons, are not exposed to health and safety risks arising from our operations or undertaking, the work health and safety laws require that we take into account and weigh up all relevant matters including

1. the likelihood of the hazard or the risk concerned occurring;
2. the degree of harm that might result from the hazard or the risk;
3. what the person concerned knows, or ought reasonably to know, about the 
hazard or risk, and ways of eliminating, or minimising, the risk;
4. the availability and suitability of ways to eliminate or minimise the risk; and
