To enrol at our studio the student along with their parent/guardian , must read and agree to our terms + conditions, expectations, behaviours, policies and procedures outlined below!
We, the dancers, parents and staff of Starz in Stage Talent Academy are a vibrant community of people who have a high regard for each other, the art of dance and show respect in the work we do. All who participate in classes are requested to uphold the values and ethics of our studio by following the guidelines stated below. As an expression of our love of dance, our love to learn, our love to perform, we will always show respect to the parents, students, and staff of Starz on Stage and all of the wider dance community, including our competition. As dancers & athletes we consider it a privilege to participate in a community for the performing art of dance exemplifying the values of integrity, character, leadership, responsibility and professionalism.
Lifestyle. We are a smoke free environment so please don’t smoke in or around the property.
Contact. All information must be updated if it changes. This includes your email, home address and phone numbers. Ensure all student details are correct on dance studio-pro, including 2 emergency contacts, special/medical needs etc. Please also advise staff of any child custody orders.
Attendance. Regular attendance is necessary to attain full understanding and progression in classes. Punctual and consistent attendance is excepted of all Starz on Stage Talent Academy students in order to maintain our high performance standard. If unable to attend class, please text 0421507920 OR email: email@example.com well in advance to commencement of class. N.B Poor attendance may result in removal from routines at concert time.
Lessons. Students need to practice to improve their skills especially when competitions or shows are approaching. Also consistent practice is required at home each week to achieve and maintain flexibility.
Drop off & Pick up. Please note that students are to arrive on time as well as be collected at the completion of their class. If you are running late, especially to collect your child a phone call or message is required. If teachers are waiting at the studio beyond the conclusion of classes a $15.00 per 15mins fee will be charged to parents to cover the cost of teachers wages. The studio closes at 8.45pm each evening. We ask you respect the needs of our employees by being on time.
Personal safety. All students must remain inside the studio until they are collected by their parents or a responsible adult. This is for the safety of all students and must be adhered to.
Personal Property. Students are responsible for their own property. Starz on Stage will not be responsible for lost or stolen items.
Student lounge. Its important parents are aware that students use the students lounge with out direct adult supervision. Staff are busy teaching/working & can not supervise children or help with making dinners & use of the kitchen facilities. Students are welcome to bring an ipod/ipad to use whilst waiting in the student lounge. All bags & items must be in the cubes provided. (Bags on the floor cause a trip hazard!)
Grooming. Hair must always be neat in a bun or if too short at least a ponytail off the face. Spray back fly aways - students with messy hair adapt a habit of constantly playing with their hair & this habit will continue on stage while they are performing.
Uniform. Starz on Stage Talent Academy uniform must be worn in its full entirety at all times, and must be worn to every lesson accompanied by the relevant footwear. No jewellery is to be worn in class at all. Small ear studs are allowed.
Shoes. Should be correctly fitted and clean at all times. Correct foot wear must be worn in each class (i.e Tap shoes for tap)
Food. Unless there is an allocated break in students timetable, food is not to be brought into the studio. Under no circumstances is food to be taken in to dance studios. The designated area to consume food is in the student lounge only. Students must clean up after themselves, including washing up dishes + cutlery, rubbish in the bin & food scraps picked up off the floor.
Water. Every student must bring to class their own water bottle clearly marked with the student’s name. Juice, frozen drinks, fizzy drink, cordial etc is not permitted at the studio.
Videoing. Unauthorised videoing or photography of a student’s class is not permitted.
Intellectual Property. All routines choreographed by Starz on Stage Talent Academy teachers are the property of the studio. Students forfeit ALL of their solo/group routines if they do not continue lessons at SOS. Unauthorised use of such may result in official action being taken.
Illness.World health organisation recommends children avoid contact for 48hours after infectious illness (i.e vomiting / diarrhoea)
Conflict. Students enrolled at SOS are not permitted to dance at another studio without prior consent from the principal
Viewing. Parents are not permitted to watch classes unless a prior arrangement has been made with the principal.
Fees are payable on or before the first class of the term. There are two options to pay fees: UPFRONT IN FULL or PAYMENT SCHEDULE
Fees can be paid up front and in full by week 2 of the term. If you choose to pay upfront, fees must be paid by week 2 of the term or your child / children will not be able to participate in class.
If fees are not paid upfront or prior to the commencement of the term, you must arrange a weekly/fortnightly payment schedule. All payment schedules must be discussed with the principal and approved before the commencement of the term. Your child will not be able to participate in class if you have not arranged a schedule and made one payment before week 2. If you miss a payment you must notify the principal immediately, failure to adhere to your schedule will result in late fees & your child will not be able to participate in class.
Payments can be made by direct debit, stripe, paypal or at reception by EFT. No cash payments are accepted.
Overdue accounts with the exception of those with payment schedules will be charged an additional $15 per month per invoice if not paid within two weeks of the start of term. This fee will also be added to all accounts if scheduled payments aren’t met.
If parents have difficulty paying fees, please email firstname.lastname@example.org or hand a note to reception to discuss financial arrangements prior to due payments.
No refund or credit is given for missed classes (In the case of an extreme medical conditions considered, a credit may be offered IF parents email requesting & it has been approved by the principal)
By enrolling in term 3 you therefore agree to pay ALL costume fees. If you cease your enrolment any time during term 3 you will still be required to pay ALL costume fees.
If you choose to cease your enrolment at Starz on Stage in 2019, parents must notify the principal via email, or fees will be continue to be charged.
There are no refunds for concert & costume fees
There are no refunds on term fees
There are no refunds on private dance fees
There are no refunds on registration / choreography / rehearsal / music fees
There are no refunds on uniforms
There are no refunds on ticket purchases, this includes disco, concert, showcase etc
Accounts that become more then $1,000 in arrears will be forwarded to our debt collection agency. Parents will be liable for fees & charges.
All mobile phones must remain in students bags at all times & be switched to silent whilst in class.
Please do not use spray deodorants inside the studio. Please only bring roll on deodorant. Some students are allergic to sprays which can cause breathing problems
Bullying is not tolerated! Students are to be kind & respectful towards their fellow students, teachers & the principal.
Students need to remember they are a role model for other students and show leadership by setting an example through their actions and speech. They need to embrace the dance family rules.
All students need to take responsibility for adhering to the rules of our studio. To bring up concerns with the appropriate person and be willing to receive direction and coaching as appropriate.
All students need to represent a high level of integrity and avoid gossip, criticism or discouraging comments about fellow students, teachers, others involved in our studio or the wider dance community.
Tardiness. If late to class, please use correct etiquette, quietly apologise and then wait for instructions for warming up.
Dance Room Etiquette: We want to keep our studio as clean as possible. Please remember to always pick up after yourself. There is absolutely NO chewing gum, food or drink (other than bottled water) in the dance studios.
Students must only bring healthy food to the studio. Lollies, chips, chocolate, sugary snacks etc are not permitted. Dancers need to fuel their bodies with fruit & vegetables in order to learn & perform at their best.
Good Manners. Please do not speak while you are being given instructions. Be polite and speak in turn. Students, please remember the teacher is there to make you the best dancer you can be, so listen carefully to corrections and try to apply them enthusiastically. Do not criticise others as it is the teacher’s job to identify and make corrections.
Classroom entry. Students & parents should not enter the room whilst a class is in progress unless invited.
Starz on stage does not take any responsibility for lost or damaged items; such as ipads,
Be committed to giving 100% at all times.
Query & Complaint Procedure
If your query/complaint about your child is lengthy or of a private nature please arrange to make an appointment with Miss Alisha. Requests can be made in writing to reception or by emailing email@example.com, or phoning the studio. Please advise if you need a specific teacher at the meeting.
All complaints and queries will be dealt with promptly, seriously and with sensitivity and remain confidential.
Dancing is an activity where injuries can occur.
Injuries must be reported to the teacher by the student. This is important to be aware they have hurt themselves.
When an injury occurs at our studio, we will complete an injury record for the parent. Depending on the severity of the injury we do expect the parent to take the student to a physiotherapist or treating health practitioner
Students who have been injured must present a clearance report from their practitioner stating they are able to return to classes. If the injury is ongoing we must receive reports regularly so we are aware of the restrictions placed on the student.
We are not liable for personal injuries that occur within our studio
Social Media Policy
Parents give Starz on Stage Talent Academy permission to use photos / videos taken of their child at classes / concerts / events for advertising purposes, including & not limited to Facebook, Instagram, newspapers, flyers & other media.
Parents/students are not to post any information on social media that may damage in any way the studio/students/staff or members reputations or bring disrepute.
Parents / guardians are to not to post video’s of their child’s solo or group routines on Facebook, Instagram, snap or chat or any other social media without written consent from the principal.
Competition Team Policy
Team selection. Solos, duos, trios and groups are by selection only. Starz on Stage will make decisions as to the appropriate class level for each student and will inform the student and parents if a change is appropriate. Factors such as student’s strength, co-ordination and ability to memorise the required work may be cause to move up or down a level to keep the student safe.
Represent. As you have been selected to represent your studio, best behaviour and etiquette towards your classmates, family, other dance studios members and the general public is expected at all times.
Costumes. It is your responsibility to care for your costume. If your costume is damaged or missing you must organise a replacement as soon as possible at your expense.
Rehearsal Attendance. If unwell competition students are required to come to classes and watch.
Commitment. Students and Parents must be committed to competition teams. If more then two rehearsals/classes are missed in a term then the student may be excluded from routines, performances and at the discretion of the principal possibly the team. All decisions will be made on the informed discretion of the principal and the decision that is made is final and in the best interest of the team. Team members are to be available for extra rehearsals for dates close to performances and competitions
Uniform. Students must wear FULL SOS uniform when representing the studio for solos, duos, trios or groups.
Respect. Students and parents must conduct themselves in a respectful manner at all times at all competitions. Please put rubbish in the bin, no swearing, show respect to other studios, approach teachers & principal of Starz on Stage in a friendly manner & adhere to the all eisteddfod / competition rules.
Parents. Arrive to rehearsals on time. Have your child’s hair and make-up done & be ready at the competitions on time. Ensure all accounts are up to date with Starz on Stage before entering solos in an eisteddfod.
Students are committed to attending all rehearsals & competitions for 2019.
In the event your child can not attend a competition and we need to “re-block” the teams routines, a $50 re clocking fee will be charged per routine.
Music. Have your child’s solo music organised BEFORE the eisteddfod. Contact teachers during office hours only if you need help with your music.
After school, we except competition team to be students top priority. Students are to choose competition team rehearsals and performances over parties, social gatherings, other curricular activity (unless it affects school grade)
There is a limit of 10 students per class. We have split some classes due to sizes.
If students are unwell with ANY cold/flu/gastro symptoms students are not to attend class.
The student lounge & kitchen will be CLOSED. Therefore students must take classes consecutively with no breaks in-between.
Bathroom / toilet facilities will remain open for STUDENT & STAFF use only.
Office will be closed - there will be no receptionist or admin at the office, therefore parents are not permitted to enter the studio.
No parents, siblings, friends, guardians etc are permitted to enter the studio (this includes the front foyer, all dance rooms & bathroom).
Regular cleaning of all surfaces between each class will be done adhering to the points outlined by the Dept. of Health.
All staff have undergone the free COVID-19 Infection Control Training from the Department of Health
Students must adhere to 1.5m social distancing at all times (special stickers will be marked on the studio floor in each room).
We will refrain from lifts and partner work & teachers will not be spotting or touching students.
Students must arrive only 5mins before their class. All students must line up outside the studio (on the marked crosses). Please arrive in dance clothes with ONE bag packed with a drink bottle & dance shoes. No school bags, shoes, school clothes or lunch boxes are permitted inside the studio.
A teacher will let out the class prior before letting the next class in.
Students are not to open the door - teachers will open door to let out and call the next class in.
Students must wash their hands prior to coming to the studio & use hand sanitiser upon entering the studio.
At the completion of class students will be lined up (adhering to social distancing) and let out one at a time.
ONE parent/guardian is to collect & drop off their child. Parents must adhere to social distancing outside the studio & are asked not to congregate too close to one another.
Do not be late to collect your child from class, as the student lounge is CLOSED the door will be locked & parents are not permitted inside the studio.
Ensure all contact details are up to date for your child on ‘dance studio pro’. Their name, DOB, address, phone, email etc
There are a limited amount of private lessons for the reminder of term 2, these are only available to students who had a private lesson in term 1 & must be booked on dsp. There are currently no DUO’s being offered. We understand some students may miss out, however as restrictions ease we will do a revised term 3 timetable in July which will include more time slots. (Term 1 Private lesson credits have been applied to students accounts on DSP)
Due to the financial viability of our business if any REC or TINY-TOT class does not reach at least 8 students the class will be canceled and the timetable will change to suit.
(We understand we have ran a hand full of smaller classes in the past, however we had dozens of larger classes to compensate for this, now that ALL classes are small we still have to cover our costs: rent, rates, wages, insurance, electricity, water, cleaning products, sanitiser, outgoings + more!)
