___ CLASS CHANGES/WITHDRAWAL
When dropping a class or withdrawing your child from the studio, a 2-week written notice will be required, or you will be charged for the class/classes enrolled in for the completion of the year.
___ INSURANCE
Platinum Dance Company does not carry medical insurance for its students. It is required that all students be covered by their own family insurance policies and if injury occurs it is understood that the student’s own policy is your only source of reimbursement.
___ BAD WEATHER/HOLIDAYS
The studio will not necessarily close for snow days, regardless of if area schools are closed. If in doubt call the studio before coming to class on the given day for a recorded message. If classes are canceled, it will also be posted on the studio’s Facebook page and on the answering machine.
____ PANDEMIC / VIRUS
In the case that a local and/or worldwide pandemic was to occur, PDC will abide by all state and/or federal regulations and will take all mandatory precautions to ensure safety. If studio closure is required or deemed necessary by the owner, classes will resume virtually, e.g., Zoom, Facebook live, Microsoft video, etc. If a student, parent, or staff member is exposed to said pandemic, we expect to be notified IMMEDIATELY, to properly sanitize and take all required steps to safely resume classes. At which point, tuition will remain the same and must be paid in full, unless otherwise disclosed by Platinum Dance Company.
___ ATTENDANCE
Good attendance is imperative, as absences and tardiness can hold back and ENTIRE class. Students should be prompt and prepared for class. If a student will be late or absent, it is mandatory you call to give notice.
___ PRACTICE WEAR
Dance wear is required for all classes. Students must wear comfortable form fitting dance attire to display proper alignment and allow for easy movement. No baggy t-shirts, baggy shorts, blue jeans, no jewelry, or other inappropriate attire will be allowed. Hair MUST always be securely pulled away from the face.
• BALLET – Black leotard, tights and pink ballet shoes, skirts, wraps, shorts over tights or tutus are allowed but we must always be able to see the knees and ankles. NO DANCE PANTS ARE ALLOWED!
• TAP – Form-fitting, comfortable attire and tap shoes.
• JAZZ/ACRO – Any type of form fitting appropriate dance wear such as jazz pants, shorts, leotards, sports bras or form fitting t-shirt and tan jazz shoes.
• LYRICAL – Form-fitting, comfortable attire, and half-soles.
• HIP HOP – CLEAN Tennis shoes and comfortable clothing. Shoes worn outside with excessive dirt will not be permitted to be worn.
• BOYS – Shorts and a comfortable fitted shirt.
___ PARENTS RESPONSIBILITIES
It is the parents’ responsibility to be aware of dates and events. We will post all notices on the Facebook page & through emails. It is preferred that parents come in at the beginning of each month, when paying tuition, to find out what is going on for the month at the studio. Sending information letters home with the students is not always the most effective way to find out each month's activities and news.
___ STUDIO RULES
• Classes are closed from parent viewing unless a child has issues with separation or there is a medical condition in which a parent needs to be present in case of an emergency.
o Only 1 parent per student is permitted in the waiting area at a time. This is to help with the flow of coming/going traffic as well as to help in the stop of spreading unnecessary germs.
o Parents viewing class are to remain quiet and refrain from interrupting class instruction such as but not limited to; instructing from the viewing area, calling out to their child while in class, calling out to the instructor while in class, making negative comments about class instruction and speaking loudly on phones or to other parents/children.
• No student should be in the dance room unless enrolled in that particular class.
• Students should be dressed and prepared for class before it starts.
• Students are to use the restroom BEFORE their scheduled class time.
• Absolutely NO FOOD in the dance room.
• ONLY water will be permitted in the dance room.
• Chewing gum is never allowed in the dance room.
• ALWAYS treat your teacher and fellow classmates with respect.
• Noise level needs to be kept to a minimum as it is very distracting to the dancers that are in class.
• PDC has not found it necessary to address this issue, but feel it is worth mentioning. Our studio is built on the foundation of encouraging each other to do their best. With anything, a bit of competition is understandable, but we feel it is necessary to mention that we request that all students uphold exemplary character, treat others (students/teachers/parents/office staff) with respect, and encourage positive interaction with classmates. Degrading comments, swearing, stealing, and harming others verbally or physically is grounds for removal from Platinum Dance Company.
___ COSTUMES
Costume deposit of $25 per costume, is due by November 15th. Costumes are ordered in February and payment must be paid in full at that time. Costumes are non-refundable.
___ RHINESTONES
You may be required to have your dancer/tumbler costume rhinestone in which you would be immediately invoiced. Costumes will not be returned to any parent until rhinestone payment is made in full. Stoning may cost between $25-$50.
___ RECITAL FINALE SHIRT
Recital shirts are mandatory for the finale of the show for every dancer. The shirts are $15 and payment is due in full by April 1st.
___ PROGRESS
Parents wishing to discuss their child’s progress should send a note to arrange a time for a conference. Please do not try to talk to the teacher between classes as she/he has back-to-back classes to promptly tend to.
___ PICTURES
Pictures will be taken for your enjoyment and for the studio. Individual and class photos will be taken in mid to late March. There will be a sitting fee of $35 with a minimum purchase of $25 package due upon having your child’s picture taken. Attendance for group photos is mandatory but you are not required to purchase a package or to pay a sitting fee. Sitting fees are only required for dancers getting individual or special pictures.
___ RECITAL
Parents understand that when registering for a class that is NOT skills only, their student is required to learn a routine, practice and perfect said routine and preform in any scheduled recital. Furthermore, it is understood that because Platinum Dance Company does not require a ‘recital fee’, anyone attending a recital (7 years of age and older) outside of the performer(s) are required to pay an admittance fee.
___ SPIRIT WEAR/STUDIO DESIGN
Families understand that creating, designing, and making any kind of ‘spirit wear’ with the dance studio name or initials is prohibited. Platinum Dance Company has a small selection of spirit wear on hand for purchase. We will offer spirit wear sign-ups for special designs from time to time. All spirit wear must be ordered through the studio, not the seller unless permission has been granted otherwise.
