THE SOMERSET SCHOOL OF DANCING
TERMS & CONDITIONS: 2019/2020
The Somerset School of Dancing school year is applied over three semesters: Sept-Dec (Term 1: FALL); Jan-Mar (Term 2: SPRING); Apr-June (Term 3: SUMMER). Fees are required to be (PAID IN FULL), prior to start of each term to secure students placement in class.
Tuition/term fees are non-refundable.
Rates are applied (per term) according to students registered number of classes.
A $30.00 (non-refundable) Annual Registration Fee is applied for September 2019/2020 for new and reinstated registrations.
Outstanding payments, (one month after term begins) will be subject to an automatic late fee of $40, unless prior arrangements have been made with our accountant.
Students who miss classes are not subject to reimbursement.
Students who drop classes are not subject to reimbursement.
Upon enrollment, contracted payee is responsible for consecutive term fees until written termination is received (email is acceptable).
SSoD encourages on-line SECURED Credit Card payments however Direct Deposit payments are accepted and will be applied to account. Must be done upon enrollment to secure registration and placement in class.
Cheques are no longer accepted for payment of fees or uniform.
Tuition, Costume(s), Exam and Show Fees are non-refundable and non-transferable between students and not credited due to missed or dropped classes or lack of participation.
Camp Fees are non-refundable after cut off date, due to close out of numbers assigned to each camp.
- A non-refundable $80 Costume Deposit is required upon registration for the Fall Term.
- Costume fee/s are due at start of SEPTEMBER or costume/s cannot be ordered for our November Show.
Payment for Private Lesson(s) is/are required to be PAID IN FULL prior to approved dates. Payment is non-refundable and students who miss class are not subject to reimbursement.
STUDIO POLICIES: –
Withdrawal from SCHOOL must be received (at least 4 weeks prior) to start of new term (in writing: e-mail is acceptable). Otherwise payee is responsible for their full term fees based on policy guidelines. PLEASE NOTE: TUITION, COSTUME(S), EXAM and/or SHOW FEES ARE NON-REFUNDABLE and NON TRANSFERABLE BETWEEN STUDENTS.
Our uniform policy has been put in place to uphold our level of professionalism and uniformity at the school. Students are expected to conform to this policy for each class. Students without proper uniform, or repeat occurrences of unpreparedness, may be asked to observe or sit out of class, respectively.
Ballet: students are required to wear RAD regulation uniform for all classes. Hair should be pulled off face neatly - a ‘ballet“ bun is required for all RAD syllabus classes - Grade 2 and up.
Exams: students are required to wear RAD regulation uniform for all ballet exams for Pre Primary and up.
Parents/guardians should make yourself aware of deadlines, activity and financial obligations. Information is easily obtained via parent portal, website and the studio. Please ensure your account details are up to date, especially (e-mail/phone numbers & emergency contact) so that we can better serve you and your child.
Your confirmed e-mail address in the school system is our only point of contact for correspondence and hence is a parent's responsibility to update and notify the office if there are any issues with receipt of on going emails.
CLASS ATTENDANCE & TARDINESS:–
As in any area of study/group participation, attendance is most important. We want our dancers to have every opportunity. BALLET CLASSES: Due to intense syllabus based curriculum, we implore students to attend all scheduled classes throughout the term especially those intending on taking RAD ballet examinations or class awards.
We implore students to attend all scheduled classes due to rigorous preparation for our mini school productions and/or school show. Group participation and commitment is vital in our weekly class choreography, rehearsals and subsequent performances.
BEFORE & AFTER CLASS:–
The well-being of our students and their families is of utmost concern to us. The Somerset School of Dancing cannot be responsible for providing before or after class care for students due to rigorous class schedule of teachers. Please ensure you are on time to collect your child. No student under the age of 10 is permitted to exit studio unattended by adult or caregiver not known to teacher.
Parents/guardians of minor students and adult students waive the right to any legal action for any injury sustained at The Somerset School of Dancing resulting from normal dance activity or any other activity conducted by the students before, during or after class times.
Pre-existing medical conditions or injuries, which may affect a dancer in class and/or performance, are to be brought to the attention of Management.
Injuries, ailments and the like, are to be declared at the start of any class for the teacher to note in the class register and/or caution or advise the student on participation.
Upon registration, SSoD is hereby granted permission to take photographs of the students to use in our website, posters, advertisements, brochures and other promotional materials authorized by SSoD. Permission is also hereby granted for SSoD to copyright such photographs in our name.
SSoD is not responsible for loss of personal items. Cell phones are not permitted in class.
Jewellry should not be worn to the school as is not permitted in the class room. SSOD can not be held responsible for valuables lost.
LOST & FOUND:–
Please mark all belongings, especially dance shoes!! Any items left in the studio will be placed in the LOST & FOUND cupboard, located in the changing room. Parents, we encourage you to check the Lost and Found frequently, as this is emptied at the end of each term.
SSoD is not responsible for loss of personal items and we do not send out emails on your behalf.
FOOD & DRINK:–
Food, Drink, Gum or Candy are not allowed in the changing room or in the studios. Consumption of (healthy) snacks should remain in designated assigned areas ONLY. Water is allowed (in secured container) in changing rooms & studios.
Restrooms should not be used for changing clothes. We have provided Changing Rooms for this purpose. Our restrooms need to stay available for students in class and the parent’s waiting, not for changing clothes, please.
SSoD follow the general academic school calendar. Our term schedule is posted in studio. Any classes missed due to inclement weather, are not subject to a refund. SSoD observes the following holidays during our 2019/20school term/s: Labour Day, Portuguese Day, Remembrance Day, New Year’s Day, Good Friday, Bermuda Day, National Heroes Day and Cup Match.
CLASS CANCELLATION or RESCHEDULING:–
SSoD reserves the right to change class days, times and instructors due to enrollment demands or other schedule conflicts.
Students are required to be dressed and ready to attend class (at least) 5 minutes prior to start of class time. Those who are more than 15 minutes late, may be asked to observe class as a precaution to prevent injuries caused from inadequate warm up and to minimize disruption to teacher and others in class
SSoD reserves the right to ask a student to leave or observe class due to disorderly, defiant or disrespectful behavior, without further notification.

SSoD reserve the right to terminate this agreement at any time, upon notice in writing or e-mail, due to breach of policies outlined. There will be no refund/reimbursement for term fees.
