COMMUNICATION
a. It is the Parents’ and Students’ responsibility to read relevant posted information on our website, Facebook page and emails.
b. Parents will not monopolise teachers’ time in the dressing room between classes. If you would like to talk to a teacher, you must book a time through the Office Manager or Miss Sinead.
c. Academy Ballet will not provide your details to any other company, entity or organisation unless you have given consent, and all information will be kept secure by Academy Ballet in accordance with The Privacy Act.
d. Academy Ballet will endeavour to ensure that all communications are free of malware. It is very unlikely that you will receive any malware through us. Our system is very safe. We cannot be held any responsible for any loss or damage suffered by you in the event that a malware or like issue is transmitted unknowingly by us or a third party.
FEES/ENROLMENT
a. Enrolments are carried over from Term 1 to each subsequent term until the end of the school year. Any cancellations/changes MUST be given in written form with at least 2 week’s notice.
b. Fees are per term and are due before the commencement of each term (or on registration).
c. A $25 administration fee will be charged for all fees that are unpaid after the due date. All overdue fees will be debited via Autopay. Additional charges may apply if Autopay fails.
d. Academy Ballet does not accept cheques.
e. Fees are fixed on a per term basis and no credits, refunds or other adjustments will be made if a Student does not attend one or more classes.
f. Missed classes can be made up at a later date by taking an alternative class during the same week or any other week - you must notify the office.
g. Academy Ballet does not teach on Public Holidays.
h. Fees that remain outstanding for longer than one term will be pursued by a debt collector at the customer’s expense, including the above administration fee and any fees incurred from the debt collector.
i. No Student will be re-enrolled at Academy Ballet while fees are outstanding.
j. Academy Ballet reserves the right to cancel classes if enrolments are insufficient.
k. All parents are required to enrol in Autopay direct debit system. Academy Ballet does not store your Credit Card details - these are held by Stripe.
CONSENT
a. Dance is a physical activity and the teacher or teaching assistant may have to assist your child’s understanding of an action, posture or position by physical contact e.g. holding hands; lifting, correcting posture or leg lines. You consent to employees, sub-contractors, contractors and Directors of Academy Ballet having contact with your child in this regard.
b. Should your child hurt him/herself, you consent to employees, sub-contractors, contractors and Directors of Academy Ballet to attend to your child whilst Academy Ballet wait for the nominated Guardian to take over.
c. Your child’s enrolment into an Academy Ballet class is voluntary and participation in the class and the activities of ballet, creative movement and dance involve numerous risks of injury, including but not limited to muscle strains, sprains and falls and you are aware these are risks for your child.
PARENT BEHAVIOUR
a. Parents are expected to follow our School Etiquette Guide and be cooperative at all times. Warnings will be given for disruptive behaviour. Our objective is that all families feel valued in our space
b. Academy Ballet does not tolerate bullying of any kind. All Parents are expected to treat one another with respect.
c. Parents who bully other Parents, Students or Staff will be asked to leave the school.
d. We believe in a fair and equitable environment for all Students and we request that Parents do not make comparisons with other Students.
INJURY/MEDICAL
a. Parents/Guardians must inform Academy Ballet and all teaching staff of any injuries, medical conditions and allergies suffered by your child.
b. It is the Student’s responsibility to notify their teacher in the event of injury/medical condition, prior to class.
c. It is the responsibility of Parents/Guardians to ensure that all medication required by their child is handed to the teacher at the beginning of class. Medication will be stored in a secure place by the teacher until it is needed.
d. It is the responsibility of the Student/Parent/Guardian to ensure they/their child has sought the appropriate medical advice prior to the acceptance of a place in a class.
e. Students with an epipen must bring it into class in a small bag that will be hung on the barres.
f. Basic first aid is available to every Student.
g. In the unlikely event of injury requiring treatment by a doctor, an ambulance will be called to the studio at the expense of the Parent/Guardian of the Student. Any Parent opposed to this should advise this on enrolment. Every effort will be made to contact the Parent if this situation arises.
PHOTOGRAPHY
a. Prior to photographing and/ or videoing any class please seek permission from the teachers.
b. Any recording or photography by a Parent/Guardian is for personal use only and not be for commercial sale.
c. All choreographic works are the intellectual property of Academy Ballet. It is an infringement of copyright to reproduce, communicate, publish or perform all or a “substantial part†of a piece of choreography, unless the copyright owner has given permission. Choreographic copyright includes individually created solo’s, duos, trios, group dances and “substantial†movement sequences, it also includes stage design, costume design, light design and all ideas of story and concept.
d. Academy Ballet’s End of Year Concert is professionally filmed and photographed.
e. Academy Ballet uses still and video photography to aid the learning environment, especially before examinations. If you would rather you/your child are not included in this aspect of classes Academy Ballet must be informed either at the time of booking or in writing before the course/class begins.
