Fees
All fees are based on an average monthly rate regardless of the number of classes in each month. All statutory holidays and school breaks have been taken into account. Currently, M2 will not run a “regular” schedule on these holidays. We do reserve the right to add additional practices on these days if required . Some months may have up to five weeks while others such as December and April may have as little as three. Fees are based on an hourly rate. The hourly rate will continue to apply even if the class is a “combo class” which includes more than one discipline. During extreme weather conditions, or events beyond our control such as power outages etc, the missed lessons will be made up during the dance year. No refunds for lessons missed due to these reasons will be given. A cancellation message will be emailed out and posted on our facebook page as well. Class Information
Please note dancers must be 5 years old on or before September 1st of the current dance year to register in 5 & Up Classes.

Ballet: This class is ideal for the dancer looking for the structural aspect of dance but still with lots of fun. Our emphasis is creating an environment to teach the dancer grace, poise, posture, confidence, and coordination. Students are taught ballet technique appropriate to the level of dance with lots of variety and use of imagination to keep the young dancer interested.

Tap: Make music with your feet! A great way to learn better coordination, rhythm, and musicality for all ages! This is a wonderful way to energize the mind, body, and spirit.

Jazz: This is a full body workout class. Students dance to improve technique and coordination while exercising the mind and body. The latest styles of jazz (age appropriate) will be taught to current (age appropriate) music.

Hip Hop: This dance is a constantly evolving style with a broad range of technique. Hip hop combines ultra funky movements to produce a high energy, rhythmic dance style.

Lyrical: Lyrical is a continuous gentle flowing technical jazz and ballet blend.
This is a more interpretive style of dance with emphasis on expression and fluidity. This class is intended for all dancers age 8 and up.

Musical Theatre: This is an opportunity for dancers that love the combination of song and dance to explore the musical theatre world. All ages welcome!

Pointe: is offered within senior dance classes upon approval of the Instructor. It takes considerable strength in the feet, ankle, leg, knee, and abdomen to dance on pointe. Students must be at least 13 years of age before attempting pointe work because bones and growth plates in the feet are usually not fully hardened and developed prior to this age. Must be approved to enroll and must be enrolled in ballet.

Contemporary: This type of dance stresses movement from the torso, floor work, contractions, releases and fall and recovery. Contemporary elements allow dancers to express a unique vision through movement. This class is intended for all dancers age 10 and up.

Stretch: Highlighting the importance of stretching for sports, working out, and everyday flexibility. Not only is stretching great for the body but also for the mind!

Jumps & Turns: A class that works on the fundamentals of Jumping and turning which adds strength & agility to take you to the next level.

Acro: is a style of dance that combines classical dance technique with precision acrobatic elements. It is defined by its athletic character, its unique choreography, which seamlessly blends dance and acrobatics, and its use of acrobatics in a dance context. It is a popular dance style in professional dance theater and in contemporary circus productions such as those by Cirque du Soleil. Acro is an especially challenging dance style for dancers as it requires them to be trained in both dance and acrobatic skills. Please note: Dancers must be 6 and up (by September 1st of the current dance year) and must be registered in another one hour class and a 30 minute stretch class with M2 Dance Company to be able to take this class.

8.Parents and/or guests are not permitted in the studio while classes are in session. It can be very distracting to our younger dancers, and many are uncomfortable with strangers watching. To keep all our dancers comfortable and happy dancing, we will only allow viewing to occur during our open house dates on the last week of every month (last 5 minutes of class time) from October to February. During the months of March and April we will not be having Parent Watch week as these months we will be concentrating on Recital/Competition routines. We appreciate your cooperation in this matter.

Used shoes/dance wear: Used shoes and dance wear are available for purchase. If you would like to sell shoes, bring the products into M2 Dance Studio already labeled (Owner’s name, size, style and brand) in a clear ziploc bag. One item per bag please. M2 will add these products to our master list. All products sold will be credited as a payment on your account. M2 Dance Co. will have the final say on the selling price. M2 will receive 20% of the final sale price to cover administration and advertising costs.

New Apparel: M2 Dance Co. offers jazz pants, hoodies (boys, girls and adults), track pants, dance coats & dance bags. Please ask for more info and pricing.

Shoes/Dancewear: As noted above used dance shoes/dancewear are available for purchase at the dance studio. If M2 purchases your dancer’s shoes/dancewear, there will be an additional surcharge of 20% of the retail cost per item to cover mileage and returns.

M2 Dance Coats: Dancers must have a M2 Dance Coat if they are competing. If a dancer is only in Hip Hop, then they may purchase a M2 hoodie if desired. Purchase prices are listed with our other apparel. You have up until Oct 31st to place your order or M2 Dance Company will place the order and help make the final decision on what size/style will be ordered for your dancer. The cost will be charged to your account. Often used dance coats are available to purchase. If you have outgrown your dance coat and would like to sell it, please bring it in to the studio (same rules apply as the used shoe sales).

Costuming
Purchased Costumes: All Competitive/Recreational dancers must purchase their costumes unless a suitable rental costume is available. M2 Dance will make the final decision on all costuming. Prices include, Canadian exchange rate (please note: that rate is determined by the rate given to M2 by the costume company at the time of sale) and shipping. Your costume deposit of $50.00 per costume will be deducted from the total cost of the costume. As of Nov. 1st, the deposits for costumes are non-refundable and you will be responsible for the total cost even if your dancer chooses to withdraw.

Please note: If you decide not to participate in Recital then a costume will not be ordered for your dancer.
M2 will be arranging a costume and accessory pick up day for each group. M2 will no longer hand out individual costumes. If you are not available, please arrange to have someone pick up your costumes that is willing to sign and take full responsibility (must be over the age of 18 years). This age restriction applies to all ordering of products and pick up.
Please try to keep these costumes in the best possible condition. Whenever possible, M2 likes to reuse these costumes so families can receive money to help with their dance account and minimize the costume expense.

Rentals: When suitable, costumes will be rented out from other dancers. The cost of rental is $ 50.00 per costume regardless if it is for a recreational group or competitive group. If the costume is being rented from a dancer, then the cost of the rental will be credited to the owner’s account. M2 Dance Co. will be keeping a $ 5.00 per costume fee to cover Admin fee/additional expenses and advertising. If the rental is a direct transaction between dancers, then there will not be any service charges (applies to solos/duets only). It will then be up to the dancer’s parent/guardian to take care of any money transfer and concerns.

A $ 50.00 rental fee per costume per discipline will be debited to all dancer’s accounts. We will collect all rental costumes at the end of recital. The costumes must be returned (in good condition) Please do not eat or drink while in costume.
If costumes are not returned in the same quality given in then the parent will be responsible for the full costume price. As noted above, final decision to participate in the recital must be made by Nov. 1st. After that date, it will be at the discretion of M2 Dance Co.

Rental Costume Return
If needed there will be a drop box for rented costumes in the lobby area at Recital. Please make sure you return them in the condition they were given to you, with all accessories attached in a bag with dancer's name. Also there will be a sign off sheet that you will need to sign for each of your dancers returned costumes. If this sheet is not signed when you return your dancers costumes then said costumes will not be considered fully returned. Practicing At Home:
Dance is a valuable part of your child’s overall education. We encourage you to take an active interest in practicing with your dancer. Here are a few suggestions and tips about things that can be done to enrich your child’s experience.

Encourage your student to set up rehearsal and practice schedules for each class, even if it is only for 15 minutes a day. Ask them to share new steps with you and take an active role in practicing with them. A student does not excel in their studies if they do not do their homework, nor will they excel in Dance if they do not practice daily.
Encourage your child to bring a recording device to video their dances to practice and also USB Stick so that your dancer may take their dance music home with them to practice.

Thank you for your interest in M2 Dance Company. Watch for the new information, classes and workshops on the Facebook page or through studio emails.

Please see below our Performance Expectations for all dancers.

M2 Dance Company Performance Expectations For Recital, Competition, and Extra Performances.

 No extra jewelry – belly button rings, Nose rings, extra earrings…….etc.

 No underwear underneath tights. (Only for when performing at Competition, Recital, etc.) Dancers who wear diapers or pull ups are good to wear them under their tights.

 For dancers wearing bras, please make sure to have a nude colored bra with clear straps. Bras must be pinned to costumes from the inside. No sports bras. Alternatively for certain costumes dancers may be asked to tape instead of wearing a bra. If needed please ask Megan or Melissa for instructions on how to tape.

 No nail polish (even clear) or any kind of gel or stick on nails.

 NO ONE WILL BE PERMITTED TO TALK TO THE COMPETITION STAFF, ADJUDICATORS, TIMERS OR WRITERS DURING THE COMPETITION. Anyone infringing on this rule will be subject to disqualification of their child/studio.……..please bring all concerns to Lorri and she will be happy to assist you.

 Please refrain from sitting in the rows closest to the stage as this is very distracting to dancers when they can see someone they know.

 No parents are permitted backstage. Dancers must be accompanied by Miss Megan or Miss Melissa when entering the back stage area. Please do not come looking for us as we will be extremely busy at all times.

 Dancers please be in the designated rehearsal area 1.5 hours before your scheduled dance time completely ready with your M2 coats on as costumes must be covered up at ALL times……………start stretching and warming up until Miss Megan & Miss Melissa get there. Parents are NOT allowed to practice any groups, solos or duets in the practice room. Please let Miss Megan and Miss Melissa do this as they are the instructors.

 All dancers please bring M2 yoga pants or yoga pants for the rehearsal room as sometimes we will be practicing on a soccer turf and we don’t want to snag your dance tights.

 Please do not use a donut, sock or anything like that to make your dancer’s bun as it just ends up to wobbly.

 Please wait until after the dance season to re dye or put color (pink, blue, red…..etc.) in your dancers hair. We have matched hair pieces and it just doesn’t look so special with re dyed or colored hair.

 No doubling up on tights it may seem easier but it is harder for dancers to dance with two pairs of tights on.
Also just a helpful tip - Before washing tights turn them inside out and wash ballet pink tights separate from light tan tights. If they get washed together the ballet pink tights transfer on to the light tan tights turning them a pinky brown color. Eeeek!

 Competitive Dancers must wear fake eyelashes. Combo dancers and Recreational dancers it is your choice whether you wear fake eyelashes or just mascara.

 Please no eating in costume without having it covered up as it just takes one spill to ruin a costume…...this goes for ALL dancers! Also for any dancers that are renting costumes………..costumes must be returned in the same condition that they were given in. If costumes are not returned in the same condition as they were given in then it will be the parent’s responsibility to pay the full costume price!

 No flash cameras, film, video equipment, or any other recording devices will be allowed in the theatre during a Competition.
