Policies and Procedures

Please review Heather’s Dance Academy’s Policies and Procedures and let us know if you have any questions. You will then sign the Registration Form stating that you understand and will comply with our Policies and Procedures for the 2023-2024 Dance Season.

Registration
A legal guardian/parent must be present at the time of registration.
A Non-refundable fee of $30 per student is required yearly at the time of registration.
A Non-refundable Recital Fee of $180 is required to be paid by November 1. Recital Fee includes 1 Costume, Recital Program, Trophy, Recital T-shirt, a Recital DVD. Add $70 for each additional class a student enrolls in. Sibling Recital Fee is $125 (Includes costume, Trophy and Recital T-Shirt)

Attendance
Regular attendance is imperative. Refunds will not be issued for any missed classes. Please be on time!
tardiness will affect an entire class. Please arrive 10 minutes early for your scheduled lesson and begin properly warming up. Please make every effort to attend class unless your dancer is under the weather or an emergency arises.

Tuition
Tuition is due the FIRST lesson of each month.
Payments are considered late on the 15th of each month and a $15 late fee will be applied to your account.
We accept Cash, Checks and Debit/Credit cards ($2 Transaction Fee for all Credit/Debit) or Parent Portal
Cash payments should be placed in an envelope and dropped in the drop box in the Lobby.
Checks can be dropped in the drop box with student name and what you are paying on the memo line.
A $30 check fee will be added for all returned checks.
Accounts more than 2 months behind will be frozen and the student may not be allowed to participate until the account is brought current.
If a class is missed, talk with your Instructor about a make-up lesson.
Months with 5 lessons will make up for Holidays when we do not attend class

Refunds: All Payments made to Heather’s Dance Academy for Tuition, Costumes, or Registration Fees and Recital Fees are non-refundable. Any over-payment will be credited to your studio account.

Studio Rules
Please do not leave any children left unattended in the studio.
There will be no food or gum permitted in the dance studio.
Dance shoes should not be worn outside of the building.
Students should not arrive more than 10 minutes early for class and should be picked up promptly. Parents are not allowed to enter ongoing classes; this creates a distraction and startles younger dancers. Restroom is for students only.
Students must bring their own water bottles!
Etiquette
Dancers are expected to respect their Instructor and fellow students and maintain proper behavior during class. All Behavioral issues (Bullying, being disruptive) will result in a parent conference. Parents are expected set a good example for each dancer they come in contact with while at Heather’s Dance Academy. We encourage each other! We build each other up! Ongoing behavior issues will not be tolerated and will result in being dismissed the class.

Class Placement and Observation
Students are placed in classes based on skill level first and then age.

Instructor will make the final decision on determining which class your student will be placed in!
Parents and visitors are not allowed to spectate during class times.
Parents are invited to watch on Observation Days which are held several times during the year and will be announced on your Monthly Newsletters. Monthly Newsletter will be sent by Email and will also be available in the Lobby at the beginning of each month.

Our Dance season will run from September 5th, 2023 – May 17th, 2024
September 4 Labor Day
October 1 Christmas Parade Costume Due (Optional)
November 1 Recital Fees due in Full
November 22-24 Thanksgiving Break (No Classes)
Dec 20-Jan 2 Christmas Break
January 15 MLK Day ( No Classes)
March 18-22 Spring Break (Closed)
May 7 Dress Rehearsal 2:00 - 4:00 P.M.
May 11 Recital @ 7:00 p.m

*Students must attend rehearsal to participate in the Recital.
Students who dance for 1 – 4 years will receive their trophy during the last class of the year. Students who dance for 5 years or more will receive their trophy on stage at the recital.
What to wear:
Students in Combination Classes: Leotard and Tights, Pink Ballet shoes with elastics tied and tucked, Black Tap shoes (students ages 7 and under should have buckles). Form fitting Shorts/Leggings may be worn.
Pointe Classes: Leotard and Tights must be worn. Ballet skirts, form fitting shorts/leggings may be worn. Pink Pointe shoes and Pink Ballet slippers. Hair must be worn in a bun or pulled back away from the face. Pointe shoes must be fitted and purchased from The Sock Basket. Pointe shoes must be approved by your instructor before elastics and ribbons are sewn on. All students must speak with your instructor before enrolling in Pointe.
(Absolutely No street shoes or clothes are to be worn in any dance class)

Parental Responsibilities
It is the responsibility of the parent or adult student to be aware of all studio events and Deadlines, such as Observer’s Days, Recital, Make-up classes and when items are due. The school will post all such notices on the Bulletin board in our Lobby as well as sending Monthly Newsletters home by email. It is the parent’s responsibility to read each Newsletter and check our Bulletin board each week. It is the parent’s responsibility to inform the school of any address, telephone or email changes. Please encourage your dancer to stretch and practice at home outside of class and always do their best. Our parent’s encouragement means very much to us!

Waiver of Liability
I, ____________________________________________, (parent/guardian’s name) hereby give my child, _________________________________________ , (child’s name) permission to dance at Heather’s Dance Academy. I waive the right to any legal action against Heather’s Dance Academy for any injury sustained on studio property or at any Heather’s Dance Academy event. I understand that I am enrolling my dancer in a program of physical activity and have agreed that my student is in good physical condition and does not suffer from any disability that would prevent or limit participation in this dance program.


Photo Release Form & Agreements
I give full rights to the Heather’s Dance Academy and its staff to use photos and video images of me or my child to use for promotional purposes of Heather’s Dance Academy. Photos and video will be used in brochures, websites, advertisements, and other promotional material created by the studio. Photos may appear with or without names in press releases and other print advertising. I have read, understand and agree to the above stated waiver of liability, and photo.
