The Dance Pointe Hand Book

Welcome to The Dance Pointe

I want to welcome all of our new students as well as welcome back all of our returning dancers. This is going to be a great year. It’s always exciting to see our returning students and how they improved over the break in our summer session. Summer is a great time to try new classes that you don’t get to take over the school year. Sometimes you find a new type of dance you didn’t know you’d love.
I love to see the excitement on all of our new students' faces on the first day of class. They are so ready to begin their dance experience. But we know there are lots of questions for the new dance parents so please don’t hesitate to ask at the front desk. We are here to help make this venture into a new area smooth and enjoyable.
With that being said, please read through this booklet. The following information will help guide you and your dancer through these first few classes.
The end of this booklet will include a page that needs to be signed by you and your dancer. You can turn this into your teacher during the first class. This is required in order to attend class this year by all students.

Thank you
Mrs. Farry

TUITION
Tuition is paid monthly and is listed on our Schedule of Classes. If you don’t have a schedule, please ask at the front desk.
You can get an 11% discount each month by enrolling in Auto Pay. On the 15th of August, auto pay students are charged for September’s tuition. So on the 15th of the previous month tuition is due, your card on file is charged for the following month’s tuition. Auto pay students are charged whatever balance is on their account come the 15th of the month. If you only want tuition on auto pay each month, please notify the front desk.
You can still earn that 11% discount each month by making your tuition payments by the 15th of the previous month. Once you get past the 15th, that discount does not apply.
All tuition is due on the 1st of each month and late on the 10th of the month. A late fee of $20 will be applied on the 10th.
Late fees will be posted on other fees like costume deposits and remaining balances on costumes, etc. Please watch your account statement each month for due dates on all additional fees. Once you are past the due date, a late fee applies.

ADDITIONAL FEES
We have a registration fee each year when you register for the dance year. Our classes start the Tuesday after Labor Day each year and run until the 2nd weekend in June. We have an all studio recital the 2nd Saturday in June. Every dancer receives a recital T-Shirt and our registration fee helps cover this cost. Our dancers work hard all year and every Dance Pointe class looks forward to performing on stage in costume and showing what they’ve accomplished for the year.
There is a Costume Deposit issued in October. It’s $25 per class per student. This helps alleviate having to pay the entire costume fee at one time. Balances on costumes will be due in December. We try to keep costume costs just under $100. With supply chain issues we realize costs are rising. We will do our best to satisfy both the creative side and financial side so everyone can participate and have a great recital.
All costumes must be paid in full by January 1st or a costume cannot be ordered for your dancer.
We have a recital fee of $75 per dancer or $100 per family of dancers. This helps cover the cost of renting the facility where we hold our recital. This will be due March 1st. We do have several Acts in our recitals since every student in every class participates. ***New**** We will have a reserved seating section, this will allow you to enter 15 minutes before the house opens. The cost will be $5 per ticket for our VIP section. This allows you to not wait in lines, have a reserved seat for all acts, and have a program reserved for you per seat you purchase.

COMPETITIVE DANCE
The Company and NexGen
We are a competition dance studio. We have Company tryouts in April-May each year for the next year of dance. All Company members are required to audition each year and take summer classes. Each level of Company will be required to take a number of classes based on their skill level of dance. Company members take 2 hours of Company classes as well as tumbling and 1 to 3 ballet classes. We have separate Company fees and do attend at least two competitions each year as a group.
Private lessons are available for solos, duets and trios to take to competitions as well. If you wish to start a private lesson you must email thedancepointe@live.com requesting the solo, duet or trio. Please list the students, the style of dance and the teacher wanted. The teacher you request may not be available but we try to accommodate all company members. Your music and style may be picked by your teacher or Mrs. Farry. What you send in is a suggestion. We have been in competition dance for many years and are knowledgeable on what works and what does not. We want every dance to go on the stage and be confident and do well. Our competition team is a representation of our studio. Please see the front desk for further questions regarding The Company or NexGen Teams.
Show Stoppers Troupe
Is an extension of our Vocal/ Acting/ Musical Theatre classes. This group will attend events 2-3 times a year and perform for our community. We ask if you are enrolled in this class please let the teacher know you do not want to be a part of the performance group. Most of the time it is not an issue and everyone in the class is a part of the group. You will need black canvas jazz shoes and a black dressy outfit the teacher will outline for you in October. This is a fun group to be involved in and is very low cost to get performance opportunities.

PARENT WATCH WEEK
We have a couple of Parent Watch weeks each year. This is your time to come into class the last 20 minutes and see what your dancer has been learning. The first Parent Watch is in October (please see the attached calendars). We have another one in the Spring to let you get a sneak peak at recital dances and go over recital information. Questions are welcome at any time during these watch weeks.

PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITIES
We have an amazing opportunity each year to participate with South Tulsa Children’s Ballet and Theatre. They put on two ballets each year and two musicals. Auditions are held at The Dance Pointe and you will see information regarding these opportunities through the year.

TEACHERS
Our teachers love working with your children. All of our teachers are qualified, certified or hold a degree to teach what they are teaching. During the year a teacher may not always have time between classes to answer questions you have. They are generally getting ready for their next class. Please direct all questions during class times to the front desk. We will get with your teacher and get answers back to you as quickly as possible. We know you would not want your dancer’s teacher answering questions in the lobby for the first 20 minutes of your class time. Please be mindful of other students' class time as well. Try to discuss issues with your teachers when they are finished with all their classes. Or schedule a time to discuss anything you feel needs extra attention. Most teachers can arrive a little early for an appointment or stay a little late. Let the front desk know you’d like some time with a teacher and we’ll get it scheduled.

MEDIA RELEASE
I, hereby authorize this organization to use my photo, video, and likeness for the purpose of promotion in news releases, photographs, video, audio, website, marketing and advertising for an indefinite period of time.

DISMISSAL AFTER CLASS
You must come to the front door to pick up your dancer at the end of their class time. Especially young dancers. Our parking lot can get hectic and we want to be sure all dancers get to their vehicles safely. Our younger dancers will not be allowed out in the parking lot without a parent or an authorized person picking them up. When arriving or leaving the parking lot each day, please drive slowly and please pay attention.
Please notify the front desk on any issues with relatives not being allowed to pick up your dancer. We know there can be extenuating circumstances on certain people you don’t want to allow to pick up your child. If someone new has your permission to pick them up, please notify the front desk before they get here.
