Conditioning & Injury Prevention for Dancers - June 17
In the art and sport of dance, your body is your most valuable tool. It’s the pen you use to tell a story and the paintbrush with which you create a dazzling masterpiece. As your most precious asset, your body deserves complete and informed care to perform at its optimal level. Young dancers are often plagued by injuries because of the frequent, intense and repetitive nature of their sport. Unfortunately, many young dancers have been conditioned to ignore early symptoms of injury. This mindset can often worsen injuries that could have been treated easily at the onset. This class will give dancers the tools they need for a healthy dance career, teaching them to listen to their bodies and prevent injury.

Pilates Classical Mat by Balanced Body is different than other Pilates Mat classes as it focuses on how it aids a dancer in their training. The dancer can attain out of class cross-training through these principles: strength, flexibility, coordination, breath, concentration, relaxation, endurance, and balanced muscle development. This class will be offered at a beginner/intermediate level for ages 12 & up with no previous experience required. You are free to bring your own mat. If you do not have one, there are limited ones that will be provided. Make sure to bring a water bottle and be ready to sweat!

Raise your paws if you love your pets because you’ll PAWSitively love this fun ballet and creative movement dance camp! Dancers can bring their favorite stuffed pet (dog,cat, character, anything goes!) and together they’ll unleash the fun on four PURRfect dancing adventures:The Paws & Claws Pet Spa, Pet PAWrade, Museum of Pet PAWtraits and the Disco Dance PAWty! At each stop along the way, dancers and pets will dance together and earn paw prints in their Pet PAWfolios.This dance PAWty will be a fun time...FUR sure!
