Ballet 2 Pre-Pointe
This class is designed to prepare students for pointe work by focusing on the necessary strength, mobility, and control that will enable a smooth and safe transition to pointe work.
Students will be given periodic progress reports covering all areas of technique, strength, mobility, and alignment that are necessary to be approved to start pointe work. In each area, students will be graded from 1 (below expectations) to 4 (exceeds expectations), with a score of 3 being required in all areas to progress to pointe.
Students must be 10 years old by January 1 of the year they start pointe work. Once approved, students must be professionally fitted for pointe shoes and their shoes must be approved by an instructor. We usually schedule a pointe field trip to one of the local dance shops, followed by a day at the studio where students will learn to sew their ribbons and elastics.
Dress Code: Plum tank leotard, pink tights, pink shoes. No skirts allowed except on observation days.
Warm-ups are only permitted when studio is not sufficiently warm or to protect an injury.
No jewelry allowed.
Hair must be worn in a neat and secure bun.
