HULA - Keiki (3-5 yrs)
Children are never to young to start dancing! This class is geared to students 2-5 years of age and will focus on the younger, beginner students.
Activities will include practice in Hawaiian language, singing, chanting, and learning basic foundational steps for hula footwork and hand motions. All classes will help also introduce students to basic choreography and melodic numbers. Students will also have the opportunity to learn introductory Tahitian and Maori dances. Learning through dance, children learn self-control, discipline, confidence and friendship.
This is not a drop off class. Parents are asked to remain in the building during class time for this age group. Students focus better when parents remain in the foyer rather than inside the dance studio.
Students are encouraged to wear athletic clothing: t-shirt or tank top with shorts or leggings. Althought optional, it is very helpful for each student to bring a medium sized bath mat to encourage students to dance within their own space. PÄ'Å« skirts are available to borrow for the students first few classes with custom pÄ'Å« skirts required and available for purchase by month 3.
