Ballet V/VI/VII
Students meet two to three times a week to continue building their foundation of ballet knowledge. Students take pointe or pre-pointe. Students are recommended to take a elective course, like modern, jazz, tap, or hip hop along with their ballet studies. Students complete this levels with a thorough knowledge of ballet vocabulary to support progress to higher levels. Dancers perform at the Nutcracker and Spring Recital. Dancers are also highly encouraged to audition for additional parts in The Nutcracker and Spring Production.

Modern dance is an ever-changing dance form that focuses on musicality and expression to shape movements and choreography. Structured technical exercises that condition the body for strength, coordination and flexibility are also incorporated. This is an expressive style of dance that combines elements of several dance genres including modern, contemporary, jazz, lyrical and classical ballet. Modern/Contemporary dancers strive to connect the mind and the body through fluid dance movements. Dancers perform in the Nutcracker and Spring Recital.

In Pre-Ballet we introduce basic ballet steps and vocabulary. Exercises emphasize and develop balance, posture, and spatial awareness to prepare your child for further ballet. We focus on the importance of musicality and self-expression and foster creativity by exploring improvisation along with directed individual and group movement patterns. Dancers perform in the Nutcracker and Spring Recital.

Time Commitment: Once a week, for 50 minutes

Through fun and engaging activities, we introduce and develop the foundational ballet building blocks, including proper turnout of legs, pointing feet, and body alignment. These elements prepare your child for the continued study of ballet. Dancers perform at the Nutcracker and Spring Recital.

Creative Movement is a joyful way for children to explore imaginative movement activities through music and dance, introducing children to musical, body, and spatial awareness, while developing coordination and motor skills. Patterns, storytelling, and musicality are the focus as children develop social and motor skills, rhythmic awareness, coordination, and balance.

Ballet for the youngest ballerina! Bitty Bear Ballet is a unique preschool program created specially for the Anchorage Classical Ballet Academy. This engaging program helps your petite dancer learn age appropriate dance steps and proper terminology in a creative, and fun setting. The season concludes with a performance in the spring. Students typically spend two years in each level.
