CONTINUUM is a training that instructor Maddie Burnham learned from professional dancers Jordan Klitzke and Melissa Herrada (originated from Omar Carrum) It is a system based on continuous mechanics and kinematic principles, it aims for the continuity of the kinetic chains of movement, its path, and a very specific and uncommon way to use momentum, impulse, space, motion script, and physical principles. The system studies the continuity of movement trajectories and a sustained muscular and skeletal consciousness in order to learn how we can transfer, gather and spread our weight anywhere in our body, how the mechanics of each muscle and bone work, and how all our body parts can cooperate to move more efficiently, safely and smoothly.

Composition Workshop with Maddie
Maddie Burnham
In this workshop, we will be focusing on the tools to create choreography and movement. As dancers, creating the choreography can be the toughest part of making a dance. In this workshop, we will explore many different ways we can create choreography. We will play with items in the space, poems, feelings/emotions, and past experiences to generate and inspire movement.

Maddie likes to focus on the special style that each dancer brings to the table. No dancer is the same, and that is the beauty of dance. We will be able to learn the created composition from each other in this workshop and work in collaboration with other dancers in the space by fusing each phrase together. This is a great workshop for dancers 12+ who want to gain greater knowledge on being able to create their own movement and feeling confident doing so.
