Pre Primary (Ages 3-4)
Evy Dodds
The Pre-primary class is an introduction to dance by teaching basic ballet steps and ballet terminology through creative movement. Students meet once a week for 45 minutes. During class they experience the foundation of ballet, musical rhythms, preliminary spatial awareness, and coordination in a fun and creative environment. The child’s (and parent’s) first experience with dance should be a lasting, nurturing, and positive impression. Creativity and imagination is used within the class to teach the basics of ballet steps.

Class Structure:
Floor Warm Up- a guided warm up that consists of stretches and exercises to begin certain motor skills needed as a dancer.
Center- A structured routine that consists of the beginning and fundamental ballet positions and steps that transition all the way through ballet training.
Across the Floor- Exercises that travel and encourages dancers to use more coordination and teach them the fundamental motor skills.
Free Dance/Reverence- dancers get to use their imagination and creativity to dance freely and use steps they have learned while also creating their own. Every class finishes with curtsies and bows saying thank you to their instructor, peers, and themselves for the hard work and fun that was placed into the class.

Placement required - please email (cedarcityjuniorballet@gmail.com) to verify.
Dancers in Ballet I will learn to build a solid technical foundation, while being introduced to more complex combinations, allowing their mind and body to work simultaneously. This year is exciting as they are invited to hold onto the ballet barre for their beginning class work! They will learn safe progressions of movement in a way that teaches them how to use their muscles and create turnout from the hips. We remain sensitive to their physical and developmental needs.
