Broadway Bound: JUNIOR 1A Ballet (515pm)
Ballet is a classical dance style. It is most often characterized by its graceful, seemingly weightless, movements that are created from sets of positions for various parts of the body (i.e. feet, arms, body facings, etc.). There are multiple schools, or methods, of ballet that have emerged since its onset in the fifteenth century, with some of the most notable including the Balanchine (American), Cecchetti (Italian), and Vaganova (Russian).

"Beginning Ballet" teaches young dancers the fundamentals of the art of ballet. Students will learn basic terminology and develop the foundation to maintain a proper, healthy alignment.

A typical class will begin with warm ups to activate core muscle groups, followed by barre, center work, and stretches, finally ending with choreographed phrases from classical works. The class encourages the students to develop creative expression that may further develop into a lifelong appreciation of movement and the arts.

Acro Dance
Acro dance is a style of dance that combines classical dance technique with precision acrobatic elements. It is defined by its athletic character, its unique choreography, which seamlessly blends dance and acrobatics, and its use of acrobatics in a dance context. It is a popular dance style in amateur competitive dance as well as in professional dance theater and in contemporary circus productions such as those by 'Cirque du Soleil'. Students enrolled in "Acro" will learn basic tumbling skills such as handstands, dive rolls, round-offs, ariels, walkovers, handsprings, and tucks. A typical class will start with a cardio warm up, static stretching, technique and tumbling drills. After students are properly warmed up they will move on to standing tumbling and running passes. Finally, class will end with strength conditioning, and a dance cool down. Acro enriches students lives by keeping their minds and bodies limber and strong.
