Students will learn to use the sound of their shoes hitting the floor as a percussive instrument. Technique and terminology will break down syncopation and rhythmic tapping. A warm-up across the floor, center work, and trim combinations will also be taught.

Jr Ballet/Lyrical
Ballet is the basic foundation of all dance forms and is highly recommended to complement other dance classes. Proper body placement, carriage, poise, grace, and agility are included in this art form. Terminology and order learned in ballet quicken advancement in several dance genres. Lyrical dance is a style that incorporates classic jazz and ballet technique. This genre focuses on expressing strong emotion and is designed to extend the dancer’s creativity. The class concentrates more on individual approach and expressiveness than the precision of the dancer’s movement. Ballet training is highly recommended.

Jr Hip Hop
Hip Hop offers popular street styles and dance video moves in combinations that are fun, exciting, upbeat, and entertaining. This class stresses placement, technique, and musicality.

Jr Acro/Tumble
Acrobatics for ages 6-18 will focus mainly on acrobatic technique, with some incorporated dance techniques. Students should previously understand basic acro skills such as cartwheels, forward and backward rolls, handstands, backbends, and round-offs. Throughout the year, students will learn more complex tricks such as handstand rolls, front and back limbers, front and rear walkovers, dive rolls, and back extension rolls. Prep for Backhand Springs and no-handed tumbling will start as the student advances their skills, and it is handled on a case-by-case basis.

This genre explores traditional, classic, Broadway, and contemporary styles in a fun and energetic atmosphere. Jazz warm-up focuses on isolations, coordination, flexibility, strength, and musicality. Jazz progressions across the floor follow this. The class concludes with a jazz combination in which students learn jazz choreography further to prepare them for an entire-length jazz routine.

This class focuses on strict technique to help dancers achieve their fullest potential. This class includes a warm-up focused on strength, conditioning, and flexibility. The rest of the class is focused on learning new turns, leaps, and jumps!

Acrobatics for ages 6-18 will focus mainly on acrobatic technique, with some incorporated dance techniques. Hip Hop Dance is a style of movement characterized by bounces and rocks, executed to Hip Hop music. It has deep historical and social roots in African American culture, having emerged in Black communities living in 1970s New York.

DJ Kool Herc originally called these dancers break boys (b-boys) and break girls (b-girls) – because they danced to his breakbeats that he looped. “Standard” techniques include fast footwork, freezes, powermoves, downrocks and toprocks.

Little Journees
The class is offered to girls and boys ages 18 Months to 2 years old. Little Journee’s will help the parent and child adjust to new group activities and introduce your child to natural rhythms and first-step motor skills. Suitable games, music, and props will motivate self-discovery. In a simulated environment, your child can benefit physically and emotionally while interacting with students. The dress code is very relaxed. Dance attire or comfortable exercising clothing are both welcome. Non-skid socks or bare feet are recommended for the little ones. Socks are okay for participating adults. Adults may be required to help with lifts and light spotting at the teacher's discretion.
