CHILDREN'S BALLET is a class designed for young dancers ages 6-8 years old eager to learn about the art of dance. This class will focus on basic ballet terminology and movement, combined with elements of imaginative play. Dancers will do a ballet warm-up, stretch, learn across-the-floor exercises, and be introduced to ballet jumps and skills.

DRESS CODE: Leotard (any color), pink/tan tights, ballet slippers, skirt/shorts, warm-ups of choice.

BEGINNER LEAPS & TURNS is a technique class designed for dancers at a Beginner level (Ages 7-11+). These classes will focus on refining and improving turn and jumping technique from a progressive approach by breaking down each element. Each class will include a warm-up/stretch, across-the-floor and center work, and ending with jump progressions. No prior dance experience required, but recommended.

ADVANCED LEAPS & TURNS is a technique class designed for dancers at an Advanced Level (Ages 12-18). These classes will focus on refining and improving turn and jumping technique from a progressive approach by breaking down each element. Each class will include a warm-up/stretch, across-the-floor and center work, and ending with jump progressions. Prior dance experience required, 3+ years of prior technique classes is strongly recommended.

CONTEMPORARY/JAZZ FUSION is an intermediate level class designed for dancers ages 12+. This is a fusion class that focuses on jazz technique mixed with contemporary elements and stylization. Each class will include a high intensity warm-up, technical jazz exercises, core-work, stretch, across-the-floor, and ending each class with an upbeat choreographic combination. Prior dance experience is recommended, but not required.

BROOKLINE BREAKERS
Brookline Breakers under the direction of Alex "Backspace" Diaz is BSA's official Street Dance and Breakin' crew. As a member of Brookline Breakers, dancers will have the opportunity to further develop their street dance and breakin' skillz, perform at our Spring Concert, June Recital, community events, as well as attend street dance battles throughout the New England Area. Dancers will also receive BSA Brookline Breakers gear, such as sweatshirts, jackets, pants, spin caps, and more. Dancers interested in joining Brookline Breakers must attend an audition on Sept 9, 2023 from 12:30-2:30PM.

*Tuition for Brookline Breakers is a one-time payment made in the Fall Session that will cover all expenses related to Brookline Breakers throughout the dance year.

BALLET III & PRE-POINTE/POINTE (AGES 12+)

BALLET III & PRE-POINTE/POINTE is the highest level of ballet technique offered at Brookline School of the Arts. This 2-hour ballet class will include advanced Barre and Center combinations with the goal of continuing to push and strengthen the technique of our BSA dancers. Each class will end with Pre-Pointe/Pointe exercises focusing on ankle strengthening barre work and then transitioning to center Pointe work. Due to the advanced terminology and technique used in this class, prior ballet experience is highly recommended.

DRESS CODE: Leotard (any color), pink/tan tights, ballet slippers, skirt/shorts, warm-ups of choice.

The purpose of this class is to continue to challenge and elevate dancer's street dance and breaking technique. Dancers in this class will work on refining their footwork, breaking skills, creative transitions in and out of power moves, as well as ending class with a freestyle cypher.

*Dancers are to prepare a 1-2 minute solo in any genre to present to the judges. The solo should be thoughtful and a representation of who you are as a dancer. Dancers are in charge of picking their own music. Once dancers have finalized their music selection, song title must be sent to Ms. Erin prior to Audition Day.

THE COMPANY
THE COMPANY under the direction of Ms. Erin is BSA official Performance Company. As member of The Company, dancers will have the opportunity to learn choreography with the goal of building a company repertoire. Dancers in The Company will also have the opportunity to perform at our Spring Concert, June Recital, community events, and more. Dancers will also receive The Company gear and apparel in forms of sweatshirts, jackets, joggers, leotards, and costumes for performances. CLASSICAL JAZZ & HEELS II/III (AGES 12+)

CLASSICAL JAZZ & HEELS II/III is a NYC stylized jazz technique class focused on the fundamentals of Bob Fosse, Luigi, and Adrienne Hawkins. In this class, dancers will work on improving their jazz technique such as leaps and turns, core strengthening exercises, and stretch & flexibility. Dancers will be given across-the-floor combinations. This class will REQUIRE Jazz Character Heels, as each class will conclude with a choreographic phrase in heels that range from up-tempo and fast to slow and bluesy. No prior dance experience is needed to enroll in this class.

DRESS CODE: Leotard, tights, shorts, leggings, athleisure wear, jazz shoes, character heels (Bloch Split Flex recommended)

Each class will include a high intensity warm-up, stretch, dance terminology, across the floor, and ending with a short movement phrase. No prior dance experience is needed to enroll in this class.

This class will introduce modern dance techniques such as Horton, Graham, and Limón, fused with ballet and jazz elements. Dancers will also work on basic floorwork technique, inversions, and improvisation. Each class will end with learning a choreographic movement phrase in Ms. Erin's signature flowy & emotional contemporary style. No prior dance experience is needed to enroll in this class.

Dancers will also work on intermediate floorwork technique, inversions, and improvisation. Each class will end with learning a choreographic movement phrase in Ms. Erin's signature emotional contemporary style. No prior dance experience is needed to enroll in this class. but recommended.

Dancers will be introduced to more advanced floorwork, inversions and transitions moving across the floor. Ending each class with a challenging technical and emotional choreographic phrase in Ms. Erin's signature contemporary style. Prior dance experience is highly recommended for this class.

DRAGON'S BOOT CAMP: STRENGTH, CONDITIONING, & SKILLZ is an OPEN Level class designed for both Parents and Kids. During this hour-long class, Dragon will focus on improving student's overall stamina, through various strength & cardio based exercises. Also, this will be a time for dancers to come in to continue to work and improve on their street dance/breaking skills Dragon. No prior dance experience required to enroll in this class.
