Alamo City Arts Academy teaches classical ballet to help improve coordination, balance and flexibility while teaching the basic ballet positions, steps, and terminology through standing barre work and simple center floor exercises. Dancers will also enjoy simple and fun exercises in creative dance and music exploration. This beginning level class is designed to develop awareness of alignment and basic ballet vocabulary and technique. Students will spend half to three quarters of the class in ballet slippers and the remainder of the time in tap shoes to learn basic rhythms. The intermediate/pre-pointe ballet class is a pivotal stage in a dancer's journey, bridging the gap between foundational ballet technique and the eventual transition to pointe work. Designed for students who have developed a strong ballet technique, this class focuses on building the strength, alignment, and technique necessary for pointe work. Led by a skilled ballet instructor, students engage in exercises at the barre and in the center that further enhance their technique, coordination, and musicality. Emphasis is placed on proper alignment, turnout, balance, and the development of articulate footwork. The intermediate/pre-pointe ballet class sets the foundation for the eventual transition to dancing en pointe, preparing students physically and technically for the challenges and rewards that come with this significant milestone in their ballet training.

Mommy & Me
Mommy & Me is recommended for kids ages 18 months - 3 years designed to foster a love for dance at a young age. Dancers will learn basic word to action movements while incorporating their guardian to foster a supportive and open environment. Dancers will learn the basics of creative movement through games, activities and props.

Ballet 1-2
designed specifically for young dancers ages 6-9 who are complete beginners. This class offers a nurturing and supportive environment where students will learn the foundational techniques of ballet, including basic positions, terminology, and movements. Under the guidance of our experienced instructors, emphasis will be placed on developing proper alignment, coordination, and musicality through age-appropriate exercises and creative activities.

Creative Movement (Pre-Ballet 1 with Tap)
Suggested for students aged 3 to 6, Creative Movement’s main objective is to instill a genuine love for dance and movement. Creative Movement classes will comprise of exercises that cultivate imagination, foster basic word-to-action instruction following, and embody joy. Students will spend half to three quarters of the class in ballet slippers and the remainder of the time in tap shoes to learn basic rhythms.
It is recommended that Creative Movement students take this one-hour class once a week.

Beginner Folklorico
Introduction to Mexican culture through dance and historic background focusing on rhythm, body coordination and folkloric footwork. Recommended as initiation level for dancers 8+ to learn fundamentals of folklorico.
Folklorico students are strongly recommended to take this one-hour class 1-2 times a week alongside 1-2 ballet classes, at the appropriate level, a week.

Adult Folklorico
Our teen/adult folklorico is an open level folklorico class recommended for ages 18 and up! Dancers will learn basic folklorico technique including footwork, skirtwork and more.
Dancers are strongly recommended to take this one-hour class 1-2 times a week alongside 1-2 ballet classes a week in the appropriate level to establish a strong technical background.
