It's our show now, kid! The ghost-with-the-most comes to the stage in Beetlejuice JR., the frightfully funny musical based on the beloved motion picture turned Broadway phenomenon. Lydia Deetz is a strange and unusual teenager, still grieving the loss of her mother and obsessed with the whole “being dead thing.” Lucky for Lydia, she and her father move to a new house haunted by a recently deceased couple and Beetlejuice, a delightful demon with a real zest for life. When Lydia calls on Beetlejuice to scare away anyone with a pulse, this double-crossing specter shows his true stripes, unleashing a (Nether)world of pandemonium.

THEORY OF RELATIVITY
This group of dedicated performers works together throughout the year as an ensemble, like a professional theatre company. Dedicated to honing their craft, higher level storytelling, production, a commitment to different styles of storytelling and an ensemble approach to theatrical work, the JB Show Performance Company works together as a unit to produce multiple shows a year of varying styles. Coupled with dedicated training and a passion for exceptional art, this performance company exemplifies the qualities of the person our company is named in honor of, John Barclay. Heart, teamwork, commitment to growth, acceptance, dedicated and disciplined work ethic, an ensemble attitude, kindness, professionalism and next-level performances- these are the qualities of the Show Performance Troupe and its ensemble members.

This year, the JB Show Performance Company will perform 3 shows, with students in the Company being cast in 2 of the 3 with the option to work backstage on the show they are not cast in.

AUDITION DAYS/TIMES:
Wednesday, August 14th, 7:30-9:30pm
Saturday, August 17th, 10:30am-1pm

ALL STUDENTS INTERESTED IN AUDITIONING:
-Must submit a 1-3 minute self-tape video with a personal statement stating your interest in each company and why you would like to be considered no later than 5PM WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 14TH. This video should be sent to BARCLAY@BARCLAYPerformingArts.com.
-Students wishing to join the JB Show Performance Company MUST be enrolled in at least 2 other programs or group classes at BARCLAY (any discipline) in order to be considered for casting. This DOES include other Show Programs, Dance Company, or Troupe. Private Lessons do NOT count towards these requirements. It is important that members of this company ensemble are invested and training in other GROUP programs.
-Must sign-up for an Audition Slot as provided above and broken down in the link provided to you by the BARCLAY Office/on the BARCLAY website.

Show Performance Company members MUST enroll in their other required programs (or submit a statement of intent to enroll if waiting on acceptance to Troupe or Dance Company/Collective as the other programs) BEFORE their audition date.

ALL students interested in the Show Performance Company MUST audition. Students must prepare a 1 minute monologue from a published play AND a 32 bar cut of a Musical Theatre song. Students should have a track of their music prepared to sing to and bring a printed copy of the sheet music for their piece, with cuts properly marked. If any student needs assistance, they need to reach out to the office for help in advance of the day of their audition.

Those accepted into the Show Performance Company will be cast in two of the three Company shows this year; 2 Fall Plays and 1 Spring Musical. Company students will receive first priority in working backstage for the performance weekend of the show that they are NOT cast in. These technical spot sign-ups will take place after casting.

If accepted into the JB Show Performance Company, the cost of the program is $580/semester, which will be added to your account balance. This is a YEAR-LONG commitment for the 2024-2025 season. Students will order and receive makeup kits and get to learn advanced theater makeup and special effects. In order to make it advanced, students will be challenged with applying makeup on each other and executing challenges such as laying facial hair, body painting, and replicating looks. This is a great class for students who already have a good foundation of makeup and want to explore further into the field.

Makeup kit is not included in base cost of class and is an additional purchase.

BROADWAY BABIES: Magic & Make-Believe
Let your creative minds soar in magic and make believe class. This class will guide students through learning more about acting, singing, and dancing and how to use those skills to bring our favorite stories to life! Maybe we use our parachute to go on a “magic carpet ride” like Aladdin and Jasmine. We might follow a trail of “breadcrumbs” to make it to Grandmother’s house like Little Red Riding Hood. We could even explore how to make super awesome music with everyday objects! The world is ours and we can make it whatever we want with just a little bit of magic and make believe!
