Dress Code: Leotard (any color), footless tights (any color), pink split sole ballet shoes (no strings), hair out of face. Boys: Fitted Shirt, Athletic shorts, black ballet shoes.
Description: 45 minute class, once a week. Students will begin to develop their understanding of the elements of dance. We will be following a conceptual curriculum called Discover Dance. We will also work in age appropriate motor skills that fit our genre of dance. We will explore 11 dance concepts throughout the year spending about 2-3 weeks on each one. The concepts are: Place, Body Parts, Size, Level, Weight, Directions, Relationships, Energy, Pathways, Speed, and Body Shapes. Some skills we will learn are: Ballet positions, Plie, Releve, Tendu, Saute, Echappe, Retire, Port de Bras, Pique, Rond de Jambe, Arabesque, Jete, Chasse, Bouree, Curtsy, Petite, Grande Dancers will also learn other important skills such as: directional terms, right and left, counting skills, taking turns, class etiquette, gross motor development, and self control. Students will begin to learn basic ballet fundamentals.
