Branches Performing Arts is proud to offer a variety of classes to students of all ages and ambitions. Local students (Cloncurry, Julia Creek, Richmond) can access in person training with Miss Hillary. Local Barcaldine students can access in person training with Miss Hannah. Students based in Mount Isa and Longreach will also have access to in person training through intensives once a term. Through our Distance Dance program delivered via Zoom students have access to world class teachers from across the nation and abroad. This registration system will display the classes available to your child based on their age. BODY LAB class is a strength and mobility programme designed to help dancers improve functional movement patterns, increase stability and body awareness, minimise injury risk and enhance performance. BodyLab is a physiotherapist approved programme, suitable for dancers of every age and ability.

Students will need the following equipment for this class:
- 2 x yoga blocks (the same size)
- Tennis ball / small ball
- theraband (not looped)
- skipping rope (preferably plastic)
- step / stool / low bench / chair that can hold their body weight (doesn't have to be fancy)
** Miss Bel has intentionally made sure all of this equipment is cheap and doesn't break the bank. All items can be bought for under $50 total **

Dance Club
DANCE CLUB (2-5 yrs) classes combine a range of dance styles that students can participate in, including: Stretch, Jazz, Hip-Hop, Ballet and creative movement. This class focuses on movement, co-ordination, rhythm and fun! There are many songs they will know and love, and lots of props and dress ups to enhance the enjoyment factor. This year we have also introduced NEW interactive resources including props and fun costumes for students to incorporate in classes (included in tuition fees is a resources pack valued at $50 per dancer). This class is a great start to the world of dance with its main emphasis on dance for fun. Students enrolled in Dance Club classes can NOT take part in classes in "other" styles.

RAD Ballet G3
GRADE 3 Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) BALLET is the foundation of all dance styles. Ballet improves technique, posture, flexibility, stamina and discipline. It is the most beautiful of all styles of dance, with slow, controlled and graceful movements being performed. Students will be encouraged to take part in the in house assessment offered to all ballet students. Those who wish to sit the formal examination will need to be willing to travel to an examination location and take part in private tuition required to prepare for the examination.

Primary/Pre-Int Jazz
JAZZ is a fast paced, technical style of dance that will improve strength, stamina, rhythm, flexibility and co-ordination, while learning moves to the latest hit songs. In 2024 we will be using the International Dance Technique syllabus (IDT). IDT includes progressive stretch exercises and age appropriate conditioning exercises to strengthen muscles, increase agility, control and power in jazz dance combos. The syllabus works progressively to train all relevant Kick, Turn and Jump techniques. All IDT exercises are short and easy for students to learn and retain. Jazz classes incorporate a high level of physicality, which is a great outlet for energetic young dancers.

Junior/Sub Senior Hip-Hop
HIP-HOP DANCE is a category of dance that encompasses a variety of urban styles. The primary styles within this wide range include but are not limited to: breaking, locking and popping. Hip Hop dance is not a studio-evolved style and saw no formal beginning, instead, it was developed on the street in urban neighbourhoods. Hip hop can come in many different styles with a variety of music.

FLIP 'N' FLEX is specialised class inspired by dance acro designed to improve agility and flexibility. Students will learn acrobatics skills, enhancing strength and mobility. In 2024 we will be using the International Dance Technique syllabus (IDT). The syllabus works progressively to train all relevant acro skills. All IDT exercises are short and easy for students to learn and retain. This class is strongly recommended to those students competing in eisteddfods.
