Tumbling Technique (Intermediate/Advanced) (Ages 7 & up)

This class is for anyone that is 7 & up and can do a technically good cartwheel & good bridge and has a really attention span, I will make an exception to the age rule. Please email me and we can take care of getting your child into this class. This class will teach lots of drill and skills along with the tumbling. We will work of flexibility, strengthening, conditioning, while also learning to master tumbling skills. We will advanced with each student as they are ready to advance. This is a non performing class that works only on skills and perfecting the skills the entire season. The student may wear black gymnastic shoes or go barefoot for this class since it is non preforming. Also each student is required to wear stretchy form fitting dance attire. No loose baggy clothing. Please have your child's hair securely pulled back or up for each class.

Recreational Pre-Dance (Ages 3-4))

They will also do a tap routine for recital. If you have done this class in the past you will advance as ready. Learning sounds and rhythms, In this class the student will also be doing a ballet routine, that will be teaching all the beginner ballet movements and positions. They will also learn flexibility, coordination, and balance as well. Each student will be required to have tan tap shoes and ballet pink/tan ballets shoes (please purchase all shoes through Soul Expressions) and also required to purchase 1 recital costume. Recreational Jazz/Tumbling

You must take the tumbling technique along with this class if you are wanting the tumbling portion of the class. This class will focus on choreography (dance & tumbling ) and not on just the tumbling skills as much during this 30 minute, that is why the tumbling tech class is important. But if you are only interested in the jazz portion then your child can just do this class. I would advise a dance technique class along with this class or another rec class but not mandatory. But they will learn partner stunts and lifts in this class also using tumbling skills! If your child isn’t wanting the tumbling part they will be used as a base mainly. This class is learning lots of skills, drills, flexibility, strengthening, and working on all types of turns, different leaps & jumps, combinations down the floor, barre work, center floor work, and through floor work... all combined into one class. Each week we will choose what we feel is needed to provide the best training to each student. Each week we may focus on different things or some weeks we may be repetitive for muscle memory training. This is a non performing class and will focus all season on perfecting each student in all areas of dance teaching them the proper technique that should be used. This class will not be eligible for multiple discount rate, as the fee given is already discounted. I ask that everyone in this class try and bring stretch bands and 2-3 lb. hand held weights. Also each student is required to wear stretchy form fitting dance attire. No loose baggy clothing, and may wear 1/2 sole shoes, ballets, or any color jazz shoes for this class. Recreational Lyrical/Contemporary Class (Ages 8 & up)

This class will be learning a routine made up of lyrical movements along with contemporary. There will be some skill level training at the beginning of the season, then the classes will start focusing more on the routine. So we highly recommend each student to take this class along with a dance technique class. The choreography in this class will consist of turns and leaps along with movement skills that portray the music being danced too. The technique class will help with providing these skills and make the class easier to learn more advanced skills that can be added into the choreography for some. This class will be learning a routine made up of lyrical movements along with contemporary. There will be some skill level training at the beginning of the season, then the classes will start focusing more on the routine. So we highly recommend each student to take this class along with a dance technique class. The choreography in this class will consist of turns and leaps along with movement skills that portray the music being danced too. The technique class will help with providing these skills and make the class easier to learn more advanced skills that can be added into the choreography for some. This is a fun class that will learn cheer jumps and proper cheerleader arms along with the names for each arm movement. They will do a dance/cheer routine along with partner work and stunts in the recital routine. The extra dance or tumbling class will help your child with this class, and will give them an extra skill set that will be beneficial for this type of class. If your child wants to be a cheerleader than this is the class for them. Dance Technique (Ages 14 & up)

This technique class you will need to have a good double pirouette and good grand jete and second leap jump. I will make exceptions on age if ability is there. All competition students are required to take a dance technique class. In order to take this class you must be enrolled in another class at Soul Expressions. If this is the only class you are wanting to take the price of this class will increase (Please email if you choose this as your child's only class.). I am offering this class at a discount rate if enrolled in 2 or more classes. This class is learning lots of skills, drills, flexibility, strengthening, and working on all types of turns, different leaps & jumps, combinations down the floor, barre work, center floor work, and through floor work... all combined into one class. Each week we will choose what we feel is needed to provide the best training to each student. Each week we may focus on different things or some weeks we may be repetitive for muscle memory training. This is a non performing class and will focus all season on perfecting each student in all areas of dance teaching them the proper technique that should be used. This class will not be eligible for multiple discount rate, as the fee given is already discounted. I ask that everyone in this class try and bring stretch bands and 2-3 lb. hand held weights. Also each student is required to wear stretchy form fitting dance attire. No loose baggy clothing, and may wear 1/2 sole shoes, ballets, or any color jazz shoes for this class.
