Musical Theatre 1 (Monday)(Age 8 - 9)
This class is an introduction to the world of musical theatre for the performer in your family! Your student will receive high-quality training in acting, improv, singing, and choreography for musical theatre, learning techniques such as vocal projection, stage presence, and character development. This skill-building class will culminate in a junior/kids musical performance in the spring. This class will also perform in the Winter dessert theatre. No prior experience is needed.

Musical Theatre 2 (Monday)(Age 9 - 13)(Director recommendation required)
These classes give fun, foundational training in acting, improv, singing, choreography, and performance technique. This class will also give training in specific performance techniques, such as audition preparation and solo/small group performance techniques. This skill-building class will culminate in a junior musical theatre performance in the spring, or by joining an ensemble of a larger musical production! This class will also perform in the Winter dessert theatre.

*Prerequisite: The Monday night class requires the Director's recommendation for enrollment. Please see Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday if you have not received a recommendation for the Monday night class.

Musical Theatre 1 (Tuesday)(Age 8 - 10)

Musical Theatre 3 (Tuesday)(Age 14 - 16)
At this crucial time in their development, these classes are a fun and challenging training ground for the young musical theatre performer! Students will receive training in acting, improv, singing, choreography, plus performance technique through working on material from traditional and modern musicals. This class will culminate in a full Musical theatre performance in the spring. They will also perform in the Winter dessert theatre. ​

Musical Theatre 2 (Wednesday)(older 8 year olds to 11)
These classes give fun, foundational training in acting, improv, singing, choreography, and performance technique. This class will also give training in specific performance techniques, such as audition preparation and solo/small group performance techniques. This skill-building class will culminate in a junior musical theatre performance in the spring, or by joining an ensemble of a larger musical production! This class will also perform in the Winter dessert theatre.

*Prerequisite for actors aged 9 or 10: at least one year of MTW classes with a teacher/teacher recommendation. If aged 9 or 10 and new to MTW, please enroll in Musical Theatre 1.

(2023/2024) Musical Theatre Workshops
Musical Theatre 4 (Wednesday)(Age 13 - 18)(Director recommendation required)
This class is a focused training ground for high school musical theatre performers ready to hone their skills. Students receive training in singing, acting, choreography, and performance technique through working on traditional and modern musical theatre material. Work in voice production and projection, physicality, acting skills, choreography, stage presence and more will be addressed. This class will culminate in a full Musical theatre performance in the spring. They will also perform in the Winter dessert theatre. ​

All students will be able to participate in the Arts and the Heart of Augusta festival in September, our winter Dessert Theatre, and our spring Musicals and presentations, dates TBD. MTW is also planning a small cast, a winter musical, for our more advanced actors.

* Director placement -- Students aged 12-16 will be placed in the class that best benefits the individual and the class as a whole--Teacher’s/Director’s Recommendation

Pre-Musical Theatre (Thursday)(Age 5 - 7)
This is a 45-minute class. This class is the perfect blend of musical theatre and acting skills for our young students. They will be given the opportunity to explore several aspects of our performing arts program with fast-paced games, improv, puppetry, and music basics. This is a great starting point for budding performers to have an introduction to the arts, which will set them up to successfully participate in classes as they get older. This class is designed to help students grow in confidence, communication, and cooperation all while having a lot of fun performing! This class will perform in the Winter Dessert Theatre and in an end-of-season/spring presentation.

Acting Techniques & Performance (Thursday)(Age 11 - 17)
This mixed-level class is great for beginners or intermediate students. It covers some basic acting skills including creating the physicality of a character, pantomime, vocal variation, projection, diction, stage directions and terms, audition preparation and execution, comic timing, and improvisation. We will put these skills into practice using monologues, scene work, and drama games. We will expand on previous acting skills, including creating a character, finding the life of the character, understanding the secrets of the scene, improvisation, and bringing the scene from page to stage. This class runs from August through December, ending in a presentation at the winter dessert theatre. There may be a spring semester class TBD.

Tap Dance Workshop (Thursday)(Age 14 - Adult)
This is an 8 week Tap Dance Workshop. Class will be on Thursdays 7 - 8 pm from Thursday 8/17 through and including Thursday 10/5. The cost for all 8 weeks is a one-time fee of $ 120.00. We will allow drop-ins for this class at the rate of $ 20.00 per class. Drop-in students must bring cash and pay Mrs. Mickey before class begins. Please arrive a few minutes early if you are a drop-in student. Drop-ins do not need to register online. Only register for this class online if you intend to participate in the entire 8-week workshop.
