You are a musician as well as a dancer! Tap technique will be emphasized to enhance coordination and sound through warm ups, rhythm exercises, combinations and floor work. Beginning level classes focus on learning basic rhythm patterns starting with simple combinations that include shuffles, flaps, stomps, riffs, pullbacks, etc. Fundamentals of tap incorporate patterns, fast and intricate footwork. Jazz dancing is entertaining to watch, fun, and active to participate in. Jazz features a combination of unique moves, intricate footwork, leaps, and quick turns. Jazz enhances a dancers grace and balance.

Hip-hop dance is one of the most popular styles of dancing. Movements in hip-hop dance are less fluid than other dance styles. One thing that separates hip-hop dance from other forms of dance is that hip-hop is often more improvisational. Hip-hop is known for its cool moves and quick spins.

Jazz (Beginner)
Jazz dance is filled with energy, variety and vitality. Rooted in social dance forms, Jazz draws inspiration from a wide range of music including Jazz, Swing, Blues, Pop, Soul and Funk. Jazz classes will have a strong foundation in ballet with an emphasis on correct posture and technique. All classes focus on turns, jumps, leaps, increased flexibility, strength and an overall development of style as well as percussive disciplines, isolations, expression and musicality. Classes begin with a warm-up to develop strength, flexibility, correct alignment and coordination followed by progressions across the floor and end with phrase work and combinations.
