The Pre-professional training division is a program designed to assist the serious dancer with the necessary tools to achieve a professional career in ballet and the performing arts. Ballet classes are taught following the American Ballet Theatre National Training Curriculum. Dancers will need to maintain the amount of dance classes associated with their level placement in ballet, stretch, and contemporary to remain in the program and to receive appropriate physical education credit.

Class Time: One hour, 2 times a week PLUS 0.5 hour Stretch & Strength (Total minimum 2.5 hours/week)

Prerequisite: This class focuses on technical performance and creativity. Both of these elements are emphasized through age appropriate exercises and reinforcement techniques. The difficulty level increases in this class as simple head and arm movements are incorporated in to the exercises. The barre exercises increase to develop and strengthen concentration levels. Additional steps are introduced that demand emphasis on technique, such as improvement on using body weight changes, placement, and equilibrium. At this level, barre work is executed using both hands. Center and allegro exercises increase, reinforcing the work done at the barre.

**Evaluations are required for placement in Level I and higher**

Teachers evaluate each student individually to go en pointe. If your dancer meets some of the basic requirements and wants to be evaluated for pointe, they must attend the Pre-Pointe class during our school year AND summer session.
Pointe is an extra class and does not count as a ballet technique class. During our school year session, students must come to ballet class 3x a week (required classes must be taken at SABS) and their pointe class would be in addition to that.

Prerequisite: The student must have knowledge of the fundamental ballet skills such as body placement and posture, use of body weight, basic foot positions, and simple arm and head movements and positions.

Main Objective: The technical skills used at the barre, center and allegro increase in difficulty through execution, combination, length, and coordination. Students will continue strengthening the technical aspects of ballet, and will work on improvisation exercises, inspiring creativity and expression.

**Evaluations are required for placement in Level I and higher**

Summer Intensive 2024
SABS Summer intensive will include daily ballet and pointe (or pre-pointe), Jazz, Contemporary, Progressing ballet technique and/or Acro stretch, Variations and Partnering.
July 8, 2024-August 2, 2024. Classes will be held Monday through Friday with an in-studio performance on Friday, August 2, at 12:00 pm.
Sessions will be taught according to level of skill.
Group A will be designated for Level 3 Ballet and above and will be taught from 10:00pm to 4:00pm. Tuition = $2,600.00
Group B will be designated for Level 1, Level 2, through First-Year Pointe students and will be taught from 10:00am to 3:00pm. Tuition = $2,200.00
Intensive Faculty includes Danielle Campbell Steans, Giselle Recio, Genevieve Garcia and TBA Guest Faculty. *Full participation in Summer Intensive is required for all youth company members. Exceptions will only be made for those who made special arrangements with the Director prior to spring 2024.
