In this introductory dance class, students will learn how to use dance to worship God and bring Him glory through movement! This class includes Pre-Pointe strengthening to help students to develop their core, flexibility, and strength needed to take pointe classes. For male students these exercises will also help them in developing as a strong dancer.

Students may enroll in more than one Foundations in Ballet class per week

Advancement to Intermediate Ballet classes are at the discretion of the instructor and will be based upon a students demonstrated mastery of the skills and concepts presented in Foundations in Ballet.

This is an EXTRA ballet class for Intermediate B Ballet Students with a focus on preparing for pointe work and is not to be taken in place of the Intermediate B classes that meet on Tuesday and Thursday. Students must also be enrolled and attend the Tuesday and Thursday Intermediate B classes.

This class is strongly recommended for dancers who want to pursue pointe. Dancers who will be taking pointe must be enrolled in classes a minimum of three days per week. The class includes Pre-Pointe strengthening to help students to develop their core, flexibility, and strength needed to take pointe classes. For male students these exercises will also help them in their development as a strong dancer.

Enrollment is by Teacher Placement only.

Beginning/Intermediate Teen/Adult Ballet: (1.25 hours, one day per week)

Tuition is charged monthly for this class and it is not offered on a drop-in basis.

This class will introduce basic ballet technique safely with an emphasis on correct placement and alignment. Students will enjoy moving and experiencing the freedom, grace and joy of taking a ballet class.

This class is intended for students ages 12 through adult who have had little to no ballet training but have always wanted to take a class. This is also a great place for students who took classes in the past and want to start taking classes again after a time of absence from ballet. Students may join this class at any time during the school year; however, please be advised that the class is designed to progress from introductory concepts to a full ballet class during the year. If you join after the first couple of months of the school year, we advise you to take a few private lessons to pick up on the introductory terminology and techniques that have already been introduced in the class.

Dress Code:
Teen students should wear a black leotard, pink tights, and dance skirt or shorts. Examples may be found in our school dress code for Intermediate / Advanced Ballet Students.
Adult students may wear appropriate athletic clothing that is comfortable to move freely in during the class along with Ballet Flat / Ballet Technique Shoes.

Please Note:
This class WILL NOT participate in recitals. The class follows SSD's school calendar for breaks and weather closures. This class is taken on flat, not en pointe. We need a minimum of 4-students in order for this class to run and continue running during the year. If at any point enrollment drops below 4-students the class may be placed on hold. If the class is placed on hold, private lessons are available. Please consult your physician or other health care professional before starting this or any other fitness program to determine if it is right for your needs.

Intermediate Teen / Adult Ballet: (1.5-hours, one-day per week)

This class is open to teen and adult dancers with an intermediate to advanced level of ballet training. This class is a basic ballet technique class for dancers who have already mastered core classical ballet technique concepts. This is a great maintenance class where dancers can continue to refine their technique and artistry.

This class is highly recommended for SSD students in Intermediate Ballet C, Advanced Ballet A, B, C as an additional Technique Class, and is required for any SSD students who are taking Pointe 1 or Pointe 2 classes on Wednesday's

Dress Code:
Students enrolled in Intermediate C or Advanced classes must follow their dress code.

Dancers not enrolled in other SSD Int/Adv classes may choose to wear a leotard, tights, and dance skirt or shorts, or appropriate athletic clothing that is comfortable and allows them to move freely in the class. Ballet Flat / Ballet Technique Shoes required.
