1. General
This is a contract between parent / student and Tanglin Arts Studio.
By signing this form, you agree to the following terms and conditions related to your child’s involvement at Tanglin Arts Studio.
1.1. Enrolments
Enrolments are taken on a term by term basis. Tanglin Arts Studio has two terms per year (August to December & January to June). Enrolments for the new term are open 1 month before the end of the previous term. Students registrations are taken throughout the term where class availability is given.
1.2. Trial
Trial classes are available for a fee of $40 (excluding Adult & Babyballet Tinies classes)
If you choose to sign up afterwards, you will be charged a new enrolment fee of $35 in addition to the term fees which will be pro-rated from the start date.
2. Financial
2.1. Fees
Fees are payable at the time of student enrolment online, via bank transfer or credit/debit card. An invoice (statement) and receipt will be provided via email from our Studio Parents Portal. Late fees will be applied to the account if payment is not made in time. Without payment we have the right to exclude your child from classes, exams and or concerts. You can find the fee structure in the Parents Portal or can request for it via email. Tanglin Arts Studio reserves the right to change / amend the fees at any time without prior notice.
2.2. Annual Administration & Insurance fee
The administration & insurance fee of $35 is payable every year in August and is non-refundable. Every student enrolled at Tanglin Arts Studio, in any form of class, must pay this annual fee.
2.3. Refund
There will be no refunds for change of mind, sickness / injury, family holidays or other occasions not related to the studio. Exam and concert fees are non-refundable. Please see exam and concert documents for more information.
2.4. Credit
We will offer credit of classes under the following circumstances sickness / injury of a serious nature with medical documentation and cancellation of classes by Tanglin Arts Studio for which no makeup classes are available. Such matters need to be discussed with the director before a final decision is made.
2.5. Withdrawal
There will be no refunds of fees in case of withdrawal of a student from class before the end of the term. In case you know that you will be relocating to another country, please write to us at the start of the term. You will be required to pay the full term fee but we will refund those classes which can not be taken due to the relocation. We will not refund without prior notification.
2.6. Changing classes
Changing classes within the term is not accepted due to continuity and progression of the program.
2.7. Makeup classes
Makeup classes are only available when a student misses a class due to serious illness / injury as decribed in 2.4. Only 2 makeup classes can be taken per term. No makeups will be transferred to the new term or between students. You must notify the office via info@tanglinartsstudio.com to arrange for those makeup classes. Drop-in for makeups can not be accepted.
3. Class Procedure
3.1. Behaviour
In class and within the club area, students will conduct themselves in a proper and respectful manner.
Students must adhere to the following rules of being respectful to / mindful of other students both inside and outside the classroom; respecting the teacher and the class; listening and participating in class as is appropriate for the class structure.
3.2. Hair and uniform
All students must purchase the correct uniform from the office for class. Please see the Parents Portal for more detailed information regarding specific uniforms. Uniforms must be worn to all classes so that teachers can correct students appropriately. Hair must be in a bun for all classes except for Babyballet Tinies, Movers and Movers, Beginner classes & Hip Hop which may be in a ponytail. Grooming is important for class as it creates less distraction and is showing respect for the teacher, fellow students and the studio.
3.3. Punctuality
Punctuality is important for any dancer. Please make sure the child is on time for their class as valuable information could be missed and it is disruptive to the other students and teacher. Classes are carefully planned according to the time allocated and the child is at a detriment when not punctual.
3.4. Parent Viewing
Parents, guardians, siblings and friends are not permitted to watch classes as it is a distraction for all students. We will allow overseas visiting relatives to view a short part of the class as long as notification is given in advance. We are committed to protecting our students right to a safe environment for creative learning.
3.5. Communication Devices
All the student’s electronic devices have to be switched off or silenced for class and kept in the student’s bags. The use of electronic devices during class is extremely disrespectful to the teacher, the studio and fellow students.
3.6. Pick Up / Drop Off
Tanglin Arts Studio takes responsibility for young students only when the child is dropped off at the classroom with a teacher present. Tanglin Arts Studio is not responsible for students that are dropped off outside the club or travelling to class via alternative transport. In the event a guardian is not present to pick the child after class, we will endeavour to care for the student either in the classroom or by leaving them in the care of a responsible adult at the club reception. Tanglin Arts Studio will not be liable for any issues arising from the guardian’s lateness for collection. Students / parents are not permitted inside a classroom without a teacher present.
3.7. Sickness / Illness
Please be considerate and keep your child at home if they are unwell / sick. Tanglin Arts Studio reserves the right to ask guardians to take their student home if they arrive to class clearly unwell.
3.8. Class Changes and Content
We reserve the right to cancel or change classes if minimum student enrolments are not met. The director and teachers are solely responsible for deciding student’s placement in classes and exams based on age, commitment, previous experience and other extra-curricular activities. Teachers will be responsible for age appropriate content within the classroom.
4. Communication
4.1. Information Communication
Means of communication for information will be via email, private Facebook groups, website and the Parents Portal. We consider the information as being received on the day the email was send. Login details for the Parents Portal can be obtained via portal registration or with assistance from the office. No communication will be accepted via Facebook, Instagram, text or Whatsapp messages and these mediums are not monitored constantly. Communication to the director, teachers and office is via email only.
4.2. Social Media
While we accept that everyone enjoys their social media platforms, please be mindful of photos and videos that you post where other students or children are involved and expressed permission has not been obtained.
By signing these terms and conditions, the parent / guardian understands and gives permission that the studio will use photos and videos of students for any ongoing promotional and non-promotional print, video, digital & social media. If you wish your child to be excluded from this, please email separately to the office regarding this matter.
5. Concert & Exams
Concerts and Examinations are offered to students usually once per year. It is solely the director’s and teacher’s decision as to who may enter the concert or exams. The same applies to determining levels for exams, concert content and costume decisions.
6. Bullying & Mobbing
We have a strong anti-bullying policy at Tanglin Arts Studio that applies to both students and parents. We take all instances of bullying and mobbing very seriously and any occurrences of if or non-sports person like behaviour will not be tolerated at Tanglin Arts Studio. We reserve the right to request that students and parents involved in bullying and mobbing episodes leave the studio
7. Injury and loss of private property
While every reasonable precaution will be taken to prevent accidents, the director, teachers and those associated with Tanglin Arts Studio will not be responsible for any accident, injury and damage, however arising, which may happen to any person on or off the premises, irrespective of the extent of the injury, damage or loss sustained.
In case of need, and in the event that the parents cannot be contacted to give consent, the teacher in charge may authorise the medical examination of the child. All expenses thereby incurred have to be met by the parents.
Personal property is the responsibility of the owner. Tanglin Arts Studio will not be responsible for loss and or damage of private property.
8. Declaration
8.1. I have read and fully understand all terms & conditions as set out by Tanglin Arts Studio and agree to all of the above.
8.2. I have understood that these terms & conditions override all previously signed agreements.
8.3. I do hereby enrol my child for the selected classes and I am aware to the best of my ability that my child is physically
capable of participating in the chosen classes.
8.4. I confirm that I am the legal parent/guardian to the enrolled student.
8.5. I understand that Tanglin Arts Studio may modify the terms and conditions at any time and all modifications shall be
affected immediately upon posting on the Parents Portal.
