Dancers who enroll for classes at IDAC are expected to come dressed to dance in IDAC dress code, on time, and with a positive attitude. We strive to create a welcoming, peaceful, and loving environment of learning, and count on our dancers to contribute to that feeling. We expect all dancers to be respectful, kind, and courteous to their fellow dancers and instructors as well as all those in the building. Dancers and parents are expected to keep a courteous level of volume while interacting in the lobby and hallways of NCDC studios as this facility is shared with other groups.

Please go over the following items with your dancer.

Dancer requirements/commitments:

-Two of our core values are unity and peace. To that end, we expect all dancers to be respectful as they learn about cultures, traditions, and dances that are new or unfamiliar to them.
-To facilitate a positive environment where all dancers can grow and learn, each dancer must be respectful, kind, and courteous to other dancers, teachers, and parent leaders.
-All dancers must be willing and able to focus and exert energy and work hard for the duration of class. Please check the duration of your dancer's class and make sure they can be successful for the duration of the class.
-Dancers must be willing and able to follow directions and collaborate/cooperate with instructors and students. This includes but is not limited to locomotor movement and a full range of motion of all limbs. Dancers must be able to move their bodies; this includes, legs, arms, and torso without the need for assistance.
-All dancers must be able to dance with the same and opposite gender. In cultural dance, we hold hands and participate in groups as boys and girls and in mixed gender groups.
-All dancers are expected to attend classes weekly and if an absence is unavoidable, please notify IDAC prior to class.
-All dancers will participate putting forth their best effort, energy, and enthusiasm.
-All dancers are expected to be punctual. Warm-up is conducted at the beginning of every class and it is imperative that all dancers participate in warm-up to ensure that their body is ready for physical activity.
-All dancers must adhere to the dress code. This includes hair and attire.
-All dancers are expected to interact with peers, adult leaders, and other patrons and employees of the spaces where IDAC rents with respect, courtesy, and kindness.
-Dancers expected to be courteous with the facilities we utilize including picking up their trash, wiping waterbottle spills, etc.


All parents assume responsibility for their children when they are on the premises but not in class with IDAC.

IDAC operates on a semester system. Upon signing up for classes, your performer is committing to a semester of classes culminating in an end of the semester performance tentatively scheduled for the first or second weekend of November. The week preceding the show will be "tech week"/"show week" and performers will be expected to participate in extra rehearsals on that week. More details to follow.

Parents and performers are REQUIRED to come to the semester kick off workshop and parent meeting on 8/17 in the afternoon.

All parents are required to help with a minimum of 4 job credits throughout the semester as this is a non-profit. This will be explained at the parent meeting on 8/17.

Performers must provide director and class parents with scheduling conflicts at the BEGINNING of the semester. Performers who miss extended amounts of rehearsal time may not be able to perform the dances/songs they missed in the show.

Our program is run on a semester basis (similar to soccer or swimming) and refunds will not be given for missed classes or dancers who choose not to participate in class or in the performance, or who drop out. In the event that a class must be cancelled on short notice by the teacher, every effort will be made to offer a make up class.

Photo/Video Release

I hereby grant International Dance Arts Collective (IDAC) the irrevocable right and permission to use photographs and/or video recordings of me/my child on IDAC and other websites and in publications, promotional flyers, educational materials, or for any other similar purpose without payment or any other compensation to me.

I understand and agree that such photographs and/or video recordings of my child may be placed on the Internet. I waive the right to approve the final product. I agree that all such portraits, pictures, photographs, video and audio recordings, and any reproductions thereof, and raw images, recordings, and digital files are and shall remain the property of IDAC.

We respect and protect your privacy and will not share or sell your personal information.

On behalf of myself and my children, I recognize and understand the risks of physical injury inherent to dance and dance training and I fully assume those risks. I/we will not hold International Dance Arts Collective liable for any personal injury including: scrapes, bruises, cuts, sprains, fractures, broken
bones, concussions or death or any personal property damage/loss, which may occur on the premises before, during or after classes. I hereby release International Dance Arts Collective, its employees and dance teachers from all liability for injuries sustained or illnesses contracted while attending or participating in any dance classes, rehearsals, workshops, or performances. I agree to indemnify, defend, hold harmless, and not to sue International Dance Arts Collective, its employees and dance teachers for liabilities, costs and judgments which result in injury or damage to any person or property. I further release International Dance Arts Collective of all liabilities associated with my childrens' attendance at International Dance Arts Collective.

All material taught at IDAC is the intellectual property of Alexandra Shadle and IDAC.

You must ask to be able to take photos or videos in class.

Videos of choreography may be taken for individual use WITH EXPRESS PERMISSION from the instructor, but may not be shared via email or social media without permission.

A parent may not video another child without permission from his/her parents.

Videos may be taken at public performances in the community where permitted or with permission from the instructor.

Still photos may be taken and posted of one's own child and other children with permission from each child's parents.
